Chapter 46

"Not bad! I didn't expect you to really be able to defeat the siege of five magical beasts." Yao Lao floated out from the ring and said with gratification.

"Don't even mention it! I almost died." Xiao Yan curled his lips, then smashed the giant lizard's head to see if there was a magic core inside.

"Aren't you perfectly fine?" Yao Lao said with a smile.

"There really is a magic core!" Xiao Yan took out a crystal core from the giant lizard's head and said with surprise.

"Mm, not bad! This thing is indispensable for us Alchemists!" Yao Lao said.

"Oh, by the way! When I was entangled by the five magical beasts, I suddenly felt a heat in my Qi Sea, and the poison seemed to be neutralized. Why is that?" Xiao Yan asked with confusion.

"Teacher, what medicinal pill should I refine now?" After everything was ready, Xiao Yan asked Yao Lao.

"If I have to tell you everything, what would be the point? Alright, you've collected quite a few magic cores during this period, and you've picked plenty of medicinal materials; it's time to learn alchemy. Although your strength has improved well, alchemy is equally of the utmost importance." Yao Lao looked at Xiao Yan and said.

Yao Lao tapped his finger on Xiao Yan's forehead, and Xiao Yan immediately felt a surge of information pouring into his mind.

The materials needed for the Energy Accumulation Pill were all low-grade, and Xiao Yan had already collected quite a few previously. During these ten-plus days of training, Xiao Yan not only had to fight magical beasts but also had to identify medicinal materials in the Magical Beast Mountain Range and learn collection methods. The Magical Beast Mountain Range was very rich in medicinal materials; in just over ten days, the materials Xiao Yan collected filled an entire storage ring.

Xiao Yan extended his right hand and began to mobilize the Yin-Yang Dual Flames within his body. The Yin-Yang Dual Flames were born in the void of the universe; the two colors of black and white flames intertwined, swimming like Yin-Yang fish. Yin and Yang are the laws of nature and the origin that nurtures all things in the world. And the Yin-Yang Dual Flames born within the origin were one of the flame forms manifested by the origin, filled with the dual powers of life and death—the Yang fire saves people, endless and continuous; the Yin fire kills people, leaving not even bones behind.

"This is the pill recipe for the Energy Accumulation Pill. It is the simplest type among first-grade medicinal pills and is also one of the pill recipes for the first-grade Alchemist examination. You should try refining it first!"

Xiao Yan sat cross-legged in the cave, took the medicine cauldron out of the storage ring, and placed it gently in front of him.

"Alright! I'll go check if the other four magical beasts have magic cores first, and then I'll go refine pills." Xiao Yan agreed immediately upon hearing this.

"Heh, that's because these magical beasts are not weak, basically all at the first rank intermediate level or above. The stronger the magical beast's strength, the higher the probability of producing a magic core." Seeing Xiao Yan obtain five magic cores at once, Yao Lao was also quite happy in his heart.

Seeing Xiao Yan so cautious, Yao Lao nodded with satisfaction, then smiled and said: "The bottom line for the alchemy world's assessment of a first-grade Alchemist is to be able to refine at least one type of pill-shaped medicinal pill. Although the Blood-Coagulation Powder you refined before counts as a first-grade medicinal pill, that was only for practice."

"My luck exploded today! In the past, it took two or three magical beasts to find one magic core, but today I actually got five magic cores all at once." Xiao Yan said with a smile.

Xiao Yan recalled the information about the Energy Accumulation Pill recipe Yao Lao had just given him in his mind again. After familiarizing himself with the required temperature and refining techniques for each medicinal material, he prepared to start refining pills.

"Energy Accumulation Pill: First-grade medicinal pill, can increase an individual's strength to a certain degree. Required medicinal materials: one stalk of Green Spirit Grass, one Purple Essence Fruit, one Purple Profound Flower."

After the temperature in the cave dropped, Xiao Yan took a step out and walked toward the cave. However, because it was already afternoon and the sun was in the west, the cave appeared very dim. Xiao Yan took several Moonstones from his storage ring and embedded them into the cave walls. The Moonstones emitted a faint light, driving the darkness out of the cave.

Xiao Yan's figure was elusive as he searched for a suitable location on the mountain wall. Alchemy requires a very quiet environment; if one is accidentally disturbed, the light consequence is failure in refining, and the heavy consequence could be soul damage or even direct death.

"It's not that I didn't know it could neutralize poison; if you want to blame someone, blame yourself for not telling me sooner. You make me discover everything myself." Xiao Yan curled his lips.

Xiao Yan found all the medicinal materials for refining the Energy Accumulation Pill from his storage ring and placed them beside him. He counted them carefully; there were over fifty sets of materials.

Xiao Yan dissected the heads of the other four magical beasts. He found an Ice Attribute magic core inside the Ice Snake, a Wind Attribute magic core in the magic wolf's head, a Earth Attribute magic core in the Rock-Armored Giant Elephant's head, and even in the head of the weakest Fire-attribute evil dog magical beast, he found a Fire Attribute magic core.

"Haha! The Yin-Yang Dual Flames in your body are the nemesis of all poisonous things in the world; what is this little bit of poison! You possess such a rare treasure, yet you can still be beaten into such a state—it's truly shameful!" Yao Lao looked at Xiao Yan with contempt, looking as if he were disappointed that Xiao Yan hadn't lived up to his expectations.

Seeing that the cave was already as bright as day, Xiao Yan walked to the cave entrance again, took the black giant sword in his hand, and slashed at the giant rocks on the cliff. Xiao Yan used the fallen rocks to fill the cave entrance until it was filled, leaving only a gap for ventilation.

Xiao Yan searched for a long time and finally found a steep mountain wall. The wall was nearly a hundred meters off the ground; unless it was a flying magical beast, it would be difficult to get up. Xiao Yan reached out and gestured, and black and white flames were born in his right palm. Xiao Yan drove the flames to burn and carve out the outline of the cave. Under the scorching of the Exotic Fire, the mountain wall was like plastic, melting instantly. In a short while, a small cave appeared before Xiao Yan.

Xiao Yan looked at his masterpiece and nodded with satisfaction. As his trump card, Xiao Yan generally would not use the Exotic Fire easily, even during battle. Because once the Exotic Fire was used, it was like cheating; let alone first-rank magical beasts, even second-rank magical beasts were like little brothers in front of the Exotic Fire. Therefore, if he always used the Exotic Fire, the training would become meaningless.

During this period, Xiao Yan had only been busy fighting magical beasts, but his alchemy level had not improved at all; now it was time to improve.

"I need to quickly make a cave to refine pills!" Xiao Yan looked at the magic cores in his hand and said impatiently.

Xiao Yan looked around and found a mountain wall to the east that could serve as a place for alchemy. Thus, Xiao Yan walked toward there. Before long, Xiao Yan arrived at the end of the mountain wall.

Using Yang fire to refine medicinal pills not only improves the quality of the pills but also gives the refined pills certain healing effects and other magical properties.

Xiao Yan extended his right hand, and a cluster of white flames suddenly appeared in the center of his palm. This cluster of white flames was the Yang fire within the Yin-Yang Dual Flames. It was precisely because of the existence of the Yang fire that no matter how severe the injuries Xiao Yan suffered, he could recover as before. Furthermore, the properties of this Exotic Fire had greatly enhanced Xiao Yan's physical strength and bloodline strength.
