Chapter 95: The Terrifying Poison Pill

Upon hearing Ling Yun's words, the three were suddenly startled, clearly realizing that something was amiss with themselves, and immediately summoned their Dou Qi Armor.

The Dou Qi Armor acted like a protective suit, isolating them from the external poisonous gas. Once they had all summoned their armor, they each took a detoxification pill from their storage rings and stuffed it into their mouths.

Although they didn't know if it would be effective, it could at least alleviate the effects of the poison. All of them were Great Dou Masters and naturally had some resistance to toxins; as long as they stopped inhaling the gas, they would slowly regain their senses even without the pills.

After taking the detoxification pills, they began to sit cross-legged with their eyes closed to regulate their breathing. As the toxins were gradually expelled from their bodies, the four opened their eyes, and the color of their eyes returned to normal.

After standing up, the four let out deep sighs of relief. Recalling what had just happened, they still felt a lingering fear. After all, a pill that could make one fall victim without even realizing it was truly terrifying.

If not for Ling Yun's warning, they would likely have ended up like the other mercenaries, dying in a mutual slaughter.

"What kind of poison is this? Not only is it colorless and odorless, but its effect is so powerful that even we Great Dou Masters couldn't escape it. If it hadn't been discovered early, the consequences would have been unimaginable," Dali said, still shaken.

There was no other way now; only by experimenting directly could they clearly understand the effects of this poison pill. One had to experience this poison personally to know its specific effects.

"What is this?" Dali picked up the sphere from the ground and asked in confusion. Because all four of them had summoned their Dou Qi Armor and were actively isolating themselves from the external toxins, they hadn't even smelled it.

"This should be the poison," Ling Yun snatched the sphere from Dali's hand and said with wide eyes.

"Pills that can affect the mind, or even make people lose their sanity and become abnormally irritable, are rare, but they do exist. However, such medicine only takes effect when ingested! What kind of impact could the tiny amount of effect released by exposing the pill to the air have? At most, it could only affect ordinary people. As for dealing with us Great Dou Masters, isn't that a bit unbelievable?" Ji Lei said skeptically.

Because he had been the most heavily affected by the pill, even though Dali was usually quite irritable, he wouldn't have resorted to violence at the slightest disagreement.

Fortunately, Ling Yun had called out to them; otherwise, once they started fighting, it would have been difficult to stop.

Although the three mercenary leaders felt helpless, they could not allow Ling Yun to attack them, so they immediately began to counterattack. However, they controlled their strength, focusing only on defense.

"This... guessing is useless. Since the poison can still take effect, it means it is nearby. Let's search carefully; once we find it, everything will be clear, right?" Ling Yun also felt it was incredible after hearing Leader Ji Lei, but finding the poison would provide the answer.

"It seems that the batch of mercenaries sent out earlier, as well as the mercenaries dying all over the mountains, were all affected by this terrifying poison and fell victim without knowing it. This kind of poison can affect a person's mind, making them lose their sanity and become extremely extreme. Perhaps it was just a trivial matter, but once this poisonous gas is inhaled, it magnifies that trivial matter infinitely, eventually evolving into a life-or-death struggle." Seeing that everyone had regained their senses, Ling Yun began to voice his conjecture.

The anger, unwillingness, grievances, jealousy, and hatred suppressed in his heart surged up all at once. His eyes began to fill with bloodshot veins. As his sanity gradually slipped away, he could no longer control his emotions. At this moment, Ling Yun was like a bloodthirsty magical beast, with a crazy light flickering in his eyes.

Now that only the four were present, someone had to test the medicine. They were desperate to know the true power of this poison pill, so they didn't even have the time to wait for those pursuing Xiao Yan. One had to experience this poison personally to know its specific effects.

"Quick, restrain him!" Laman shouted. He then snatched the poison pill from Ling Yun's hand, placed it into a small jade bottle, and stored it in his storage ring.

"Damn it! The people from the three mercenary groups are basically all dead, leaving only us lonely survivors. Yet, until now, we haven't seen the culprit, nor have we found any clues." Dali punched a nearby large tree fiercely; the tree was pierced through by his punch, and the trunk shook continuously.

"Sigh! That is also a possibility!" Ling Yun shook his head at this point; after all, they had been searching for over an hour and hadn't found the poison.

"Hmm, be careful. Once we notice you aren't right, we will immediately take the poison from your hand and subdue you." Seeing Ling Yun actually testing the poison himself, Laman nodded and said.

The mercenary leaders began searching the mountains and plains for the poison, but they searched the entire battlefield and did not find its location.

Because they all knew that this poison pill could only temporarily affect Ling Yun's mind, and with a Great Dou Master's own recovery ability, Ling Yun would naturally return to normal once the time was up.

"It shouldn't be. Since it is still having an effect, it means it isn't far from us. Let's return to the previous position and search carefully again." Ling Yun shook his head and said.

"Could it be that the poison has already been taken away by the person who cast it?" Laman said with a frown.

"How is that possible! To fly, one must at least reach the Dou Ling level to barely manage it, and even then, it's only a short-distance glide; it doesn't count as flying." Laman shook his head.

Taking advantage of Ling Yun being controlled, Laman took out a detoxification pill, preparing to stuff it into his mouth.

Under the gaze of the three leaders, Ling Yun slowly put away his Dou Qi Armor. The moment the armor was retracted, Ling Yun felt his clear mind become blurred, as if shrouded in haze.

The other two leaders each grabbed one of Ling Yun's arms, pinning him firmly to the ground so he couldn't move an inch.

But Ling Yun had already completely lost his sanity and become extremely violent. He directly summoned his Dou Qi Armor, used brute force to break free from the two leaders, and began to attack the three leaders.

"Could this poison be in powder form? That's why we can't find it!" Laman had been searching for a long time and was getting impatient.

However, after the four returned to the original spot and searched carefully, they still didn't find it.

"What? This is the poison?" The three leaders stared fixedly at the poison pill in Ling Yun's hand.

Suddenly, Dali felt something hit him, and a spherical object fell to the ground.

Seeing Ling Yun's persistence, and with no other clues, the three leaders had no choice but to return to the original spot to continue searching.

"But how could this poison pill be in the tree? Could it be that he poisoned us from the sky?" Ling Yun looked at the pitch-black sky and felt it was somewhat unbelievable.

"Forget it, never mind how he poisoned us. I will first test how powerful this pill is. You watch from the side; once you notice I can't control myself, you subdue me." Ling Yun said.

Sure enough, after only a short while, Ling Yun stopped attacking on his own and raised his hand to stop the three.

After taking a detoxification pill, Ling Yun sat cross-legged on the ground again and began to neutralize the toxins in his body.
