The ancients held dragons in great reverence, believing that among water-dwelling creatures the dragon possessed the greatest strength, and so they honored people of lofty virtue with the title "Dragon Elephant." Among the Dragon Kings, there is one called Sāgara (meaning "Ocean") Long Wang. His young daughter, at the age of eight, went to Vulture Peak where Shakyamuni was preaching. After hearing Shakyamuni expound the Lotus Sutra, she offered a treasure pearl to Shakyamuni Buddha, instantly transformed into a male body, rose into the air, rode auspicious clouds to the Southern Wugou World, and manifested Buddhahood to save sentient beings. This special phantom beast cannot be subdued.
