Chapter 384: Such a studious nature

Scale-Controlling Puppet... Qiao Sang scrutinized the pet beast summoned by Wang Rui.

A few months ago, when she first started battling against a Scale-Controlling Puppet with Like Ya Bao, she had a feeling of "I'm done for." But now, she felt completely calm; her mindset was entirely different.

A Psychic-type pet beast, a "glass cannon" just like Little Xunbao. It all comes down to who lands an attack on the other first...

At this moment, the whistle signaling the start of the battle sounded.

Qiao Sang immediately shouted: "Get close to it and use Hypnosis!"

Her voice was so loud that Wang Rui, on the other side, heard it clearly.

Wang Rui quickly issued the corresponding command:

"Don't let it get close!"

The words had barely left his mouth when he saw the Treasure-Hunting Ghost vanish from its spot and appear right in front of the Scale-Controlling Puppet.

Although he knew that with the Scale-Controlling Puppet's strength, it shouldn't be so easy for the Treasure-Hunting Ghost to succeed, Wang Rui couldn't help but feel his heart tighten.

Having watched her matches during this period, the shadow Qiao Sang had cast over him was simply too great...

The Scale-Controlling Puppet didn't panic in the slightest; it used Teleport to open up a distance of several meters.

Immediately following that, it extended its short claws, and a beam of multicolored light shot rapidly toward the position where Little Xunbao was located.

Little Xunbao grinned, turned invisible, and disappeared from sight.

"Bang!"

The Psybeam hit the ground, sending stone fragments flying.

"Psychic Sensing!" Wang Rui shouted immediately upon seeing this.

Psychic Sensing, an intermediate-level sensory skill for Psychic-type pet beasts. It allows the user to perceive the different mental fluctuations of surrounding organisms through psychic power, thereby pinpointing their location, including invisible Ghost-type pet beasts. However, it is only effective on living organisms.

As expected, he used this move... Qiao Sang had studied Wang Rui's profile, so naturally, she knew his Scale-Controlling Puppet could use Psychic Sensing.

Unfortunately, sensing also takes time.

The Scale-Controlling Puppet closed its eyes, and an invisible wave of energy spread out 360 degrees from its position as the origin.

When the energy spread to half a meter in front of it, the Scale-Controlling Puppet suddenly opened its eyes.

Because it sensed that its opponent was right in front of it!

It was one thing to see the opponent at the start, but to suddenly sense it appearing right in front of it while invisible—this truly gave the Scale-Controlling Puppet a fright.

It wasn't that it had never battled Ghost-type pet beasts before, but never once had an opponent been sensed at such a close range.

"Scale-Control!"

The Scale-Controlling Puppet wore a startled expression and wanted to use Teleport, only to find that it couldn't move at all.

Little Xunbao revealed itself, one of its claws raised, emitting a blue light.

An invisible force was tightly binding the Scale-Controlling Puppet, cutting off any possibility of it using Teleport.

To think that even with the Scale-Controlling Puppet's psychic power, it couldn't break free from the Treasure-Hunting Ghost's Telekinesis... Wang Rui's heart sank, and he immediately recalled Qiao Sang's command at the start of the match: "Get close to it and use Hypnosis."

He remembered the Treasure-Hunting Ghost's Hypnosis; it was a skill that even the high-tier pet beast, the Ruling Owl, had fallen victim to!

Wang Rui's expression changed drastically, and he shouted in a panic:

"Close your eyes!"

Hearing its Tamer's words, the Scale-Controlling Puppet immediately closed its eyes.

"Pfft~"

Seeing this, Qiao Sang couldn't hold it in and laughed out loud.

Hearing the laughter, Wang Rui was stunned; he didn't understand what Qiao Sang was laughing at.

Just as this doubt arose from the bottom of his heart, he suddenly had a bad premonition.

Wang Rui suddenly looked up into mid-air.

He saw that the blue light on the Treasure-Hunting Ghost's short toe had already dissipated.

The Scale-Controlling Puppet, no longer under the control of Telekinesis, was still foolishly keeping its eyes closed, staying in the same spot.

The Treasure-Hunting Ghost's right claw was raised high, a white energy condensing on it.

Wang Rui looked up, and what he saw was exactly this scene.

Holy crap! Brick Break?!

Wang Rui was filled with disbelief; wasn't that a Fighting-type skill?!

"Dodge quickly!"

Following Wang Rui's shout, Little Xunbao mercilessly chopped down toward the Scale-Controlling Puppet, which still had its eyes closed.

"Scale-Control!

!"

The Scale-Controlling Puppet instantly plummeted downward with a boom.

Before the Scale-Controlling Puppet could hit the ground, a Shadow Ball, fully twenty centimeters in size, struck it head-on from above.

"Bang!

"

The Scale-Controlling Puppet slammed heavily into the ground, sending dust flying.

When the dust settled, everyone saw the Scale-Controlling Puppet, still with its eyes closed.

"Qu!"

Following the whistle, the announcer's voice on the broadcast declared:

"Shengshui Middle School's Qiao Sang wins!"

Wang Rui looked at the young girl opposite him and suddenly understood something, saying with a complex expression:

"That command you shouted at the beginning, 'Get close to it and use Hypnosis,' was intentionally said loudly for me to hear, just so that when the Treasure-Hunting Ghost got close to the Scale-Controlling Puppet, you could make me issue the wrong command..."

Qiao Sang nodded and said modestly: "I was also inspired by Huang Kaijun."

Ever since she witnessed Huang Kaijun's tactics, she felt it was very suitable for Little Xunbao, so she mentioned this plan to Little Xunbao yesterday. She hadn't expected the results to be this good...

Wang Rui was completely convinced. Facing an opponent who was not only incredibly strong but also so studious, he didn't lose unjustly.

While the two were talking, the crowd in the audience was also discussing.

"Hahaha, I told you, what Qiao Sang said at the very beginning was definitely intentional. In her matches over the past few days, she basically didn't issue any commands to her pet beasts, but in this match, not only did she issue commands, she even made them so loud and detailed, as if she were afraid her opponent wouldn't hear them."

"Brick Break! Did you guys see that just now? That Treasure-Hunting Ghost actually used Brick Break!"

"That's truly awesome. To think a Ghost-type pet beast could actually learn Brick Break..."

"Hiss... I suddenly thought of a possibility. Could this Treasure-Hunting Ghost also have a Fighting-type attribute?!"

"You really dare to imagine..."

"Sly, truly sly... She's a good seedling to be a professional Beast Tamer..."

"Although it's a high school competition, I quite like watching Qiao Sang's battles. It's a pity this is her last day of competition in the province."

According to the match list arranged by the system, the loser of the first round will battle against Xu Yixuan, while the winner of the second round will determine who is first and who is second against the winner of the first round, which is Qiao Sang, in the third round.

As soon as Little Xunbao left the arena, it couldn't wait to take off its ring, pull out the diamond-encrusted gloves from inside, and put them on.

According to the competition rules, pet beasts are not allowed to wear any props or decorative items on their bodies during the match.

This was also something that couldn't be helped.

Initially, the competition rules only required that pet beasts could not carry props onto the field, but there were always some people who wanted to fish in troubled waters.

Once, a Beast Tamer's pet beast always wore a pair of glasses during a match, claiming it was severely nearsighted.

As it turned out, an acquaintance of his leaked that it wasn't a pair of glasses at all, but glasses specifically designed to detect energy fluctuations.

The effect of this high-tech eyewear wasn't huge, but it wasn't small either. It couldn't detect invisible Ghost-type pet beasts, but if an opponent used clones, it could accurately find the real body based on energy fluctuations.

There were many similar examples, which led to the rule that no decorative items were allowed in slightly larger competitions later on. ===== CHAPTER 385 =====
