Chapter 85: The Adventures of Magnet Rat

The ultimate goal of coming back to the old hometown this summer break was to help Fire Fang Dog train so it could evolve.

Finding wild supernatural creatures to battle back in the old hometown had always been part of the training.

Because the mountain required climbing, which was a hassle, whereas the little grove over in Tan'an Township grew on flat ground, making the trip there and back easy.

But since they were already at the foot of Yellow Bright Mountain this time, she figured she'd head up along the way to find some wild beast pets to train with.

Qiao Sang watched her surroundings warily.

Although this wasn't a secret realm and high-level wild supernatural creatures couldn't possibly show up, the usual safety precautions still had to be taken.

The mountain path wound along, and Qiao Sang walked the narrow trail while Fire Fang Dog and Magnet Rat cleared the way up ahead.

Fire Fang Dog immediately stopped in its tracks and struck a battle stance; Magnet Rat, startled, also stopped.

Little Treasure Ghost, meanwhile, lay on top of Qiao Sang's head, watching curiously.

The Saddle Velvet Worm heard the noise, turned its head to glance this way, then unhurriedly wriggled past Qiao Sang without a care.

Qiao Sang stood there in a daze for a good while.

This was awkward…

Some beginner wild beast pets were rather simple and non-aggressive; as long as you didn't go out of your way to provoke them, they basically wouldn't attack without reason.

And the Saddle Velvet Worm was clearly one of that type.

The arc struck the ground, sparks flew, and left a small crater.

Fire Fang Dog turned its head and gave Qiao Sang a worried glance.

"I'm fine," Qiao Sang said, scrambling to her feet and shaking her head.

She was afraid that if she moved too slowly, another arc would come her way.

Seeing that its beast master was all right, red flames suddenly leapt up on Fire Fang Dog's body; it glared furiously at the Magnet Rat that had appeared out of nowhere and looked ready to charge.

But just as Fire Fang Dog was about to charge, it found that the Magnet Rat had actually risen into the air and was hovering there.

"Mag!!!"

The hovering Magnet Rat struggled desperately, its eyes glaring furiously at Qiao Sang, looking as if it wished it could rush over and bite her.

Qiao Sang also noticed the commotion here; she froze for a moment, then turned to look at Little Treasure Ghost beside her.

At this moment, there was no longer any curiosity in Little Treasure Ghost's eyes.

It could be seen that a blue glow rose over its body, its form floated in midair, and its yellow eyeballs had turned blue.

Qiao Sang stood dazed for a long moment.

Using telekinesis to control objects and using it to control living beings were two entirely different concepts.

Its hind legs dug back into the ground, the flames on its body flared out once more, and it shot forward like a bolt of lightning.

It moved so fast it looked like nothing more than a streak of red light flashing past.

Just as Fire Tooth Dog leaped up to slam into that Magneto Rat, a yellow figure darted in front of the Magneto Rat to shield it.

Fire Tooth Dog's Blazing Charge was so fierce that it sent the yellow figure — along with the Magneto Rat shielded behind it — flying together.

"Mag!"

"Mag!"

Two Magneto Rats with different voices shrieked at the same time.

In no time at all, both Magneto Rats had fainted.

Looking at the smaller Magneto Rat that had just rushed out to shield the other one, Qiao Sang understood everything perfectly well.

That big Magneto Rat that had suddenly charged out to attack clearly knew the Magneto Rat she had brought back.

It must have identified her as a bad person and chosen to attack…

Qiao Sang looked sympathetically at the Magneto Rat she had brought back, which was currently collapsed on the ground unconscious.

This little one had had far too rough a time these past few days.

It had finally escaped, was almost home, and then this miserable thing had to happen.
