Chapter 177

"Mechanical life?"

"Does Miss Mo mean that mechanical beasts can also develop intelligence?" Lin Jing asked.

"Magic treasures can, so why can't mechanical beasts?" The young woman in plain clothes smiled slightly.

"That's true, though the methods are likely not entirely the same," Lin Jing remarked.

Lin Jing did not rush to refuse the trade proposed by the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang.

Although the usage conditions for the Mosquito-Powered Mecha were somewhat harsh, for the high-level cultivators of the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang, there should be a way to resolve them.

The key to the power of the Mosquito-Powered Mecha created by Lin Jing was the energy source; the combination of the mutated Blood Demon Vine and the blood of the Cloud Sea Mosquito Beast could trigger a terrifying fission reaction, providing the entire machine with immense power.

The Cloud Sea Mosquito Beast was not difficult for the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang to obtain; after all, this faction was a legacy power with a Void Profound Ancestor presiding over it.

As for the former, as long as Lin Jing was willing to provide the Blood Demon Vine, the other party could replicate this unique energy reactor.

The only difficulty lay in the fact that the Blood Mosquitoes, which the Blood Demon Vine turned into after absorbing blood, could only be controlled by the Pine-Leaf Rat!

Without the Pine-Leaf Rat's control, the Blood Mosquitoes would attack friend and foe alike. Lin Jing, the Pine-Leaf Rat's beast tamer, had even been attacked by them before. Getting them to cooperate obediently and provide power steadily was very difficult.

However, in other words, as long as a solution was found, this energy source could be used by others.

Although Lin Jing had not yet found this solution, the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang might have a way.

Furthermore, because the Pine-Leaf Rat had powerful control over the Blood Demon Vine, there was no need to worry about others turning his own creation against him.

Therefore, in Lin Jing's view, this trade could be made.

On one hand, he could let the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang help him research how to let others control the Mosquito-Powered Mecha; on the other hand, Lin Jing was indeed very interested in the mechanical life Mo Qianyi mentioned.

After all... besides the Mosquito-Powered Mecha, he had another traditional mechanical beast in his storage space.

"Holy Son Lin knows about the Mechanical Soul Heart, right? Most high-level mechanical creations need to fuse with a Soul Heart to facilitate control by the mechanist."

"Actually, the Soul Heart is the key to giving a machine intelligence. The Soul Heart can evolve through a secret technique of the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang!"

"How come I've never heard of the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang using mechanical creations that contain consciousness?" Lin Jing asked his question.

Mo Qianyi smiled: "Holy Son Lin comes from the Beast Sect, so you should understand that consciousness is a double-edged sword. While it allows mechanical creations to operate on their own, it also makes them prone to breaking free from control. Most mechanists still prefer to trust mechanical creations under their own mental control."

"If I'm not mistaken, the Beast Sect must have had cases of pet beasts rebelling, right? Most mechanists in the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang worry about this situation, so they would rather control mindless machines."

"So, after this secret technique to give the Soul Heart consciousness was created by an ancestor of the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang, the mechanists of the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang haven't used it much. Currently, within the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang, only a few mechanical lives left behind by ancestors, which serve the duty of guarding the mountain, possess self-consciousness."

"If you are willing to take out the design blueprints of the mechanical creation from just now to exchange, the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang can give you a mechanical beast capable of upgrading to the Nascent Soul stage, and can even let it develop self-consciousness. Aren't you curious whether the Beast Sect's Beast Taming Art can contract a mechanical beast that possesses its own life?"

"Interesting." Lin Jing also smiled slightly, then narrowed his eyes: "However, I'm going to disappoint you. Even if I give you the blueprints for that mechanical creation, you won't be able to reproduce it, because it contains a special, irreplaceable material that only I possess... it is the key to the entire mechanical creation's power, defense, and sustained combat."

"Of course, I can provide you with some of this material, but the method to control this material is related to my physique and cannot be given to you. You will need to find another control method on your own."

"If you feel there is no problem, then the trade can continue to be discussed."

Mo Qianyi looked back at the Elders of the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang who had been silent behind her. She appeared to be communicating with the Elders, but in reality, she had already made up her mind.

The proposal to trade with Lin Jing was even suggested by her to the Elders.

For this new type of mechanical creation that didn't use a Soul Heart, Mo Qianyi, who had practiced mechanics since childhood, was very curious. Out of her love for mechanics, she wanted to study it.

Several Elders nodded, also feeling there was no problem. As long as it was something from the Tianyuan Continent, they didn't believe the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang couldn't find a way to control it.

In the study of materials science, the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang dared to claim second place in the Tianyuan Continent; no faction dared to claim first.

Let alone the control method, as long as Lin Jing provided them with the material, they had the confidence to replicate the material and make a substitute, so it would no longer be scarce!

"Then what are your conditions?" Mo Qianyi asked.

"Just as you said earlier. I want a set of design blueprints for a mechanical beast capable of upgrading to the Nascent Soul level, plus the secret technique to let it develop intelligence."

Mo Qianyi shook her head: "The Nascent Soul level mechanical beast blueprints are fine, but the secret technique to let the mechanical beast develop intelligence cannot be given to you directly. After you design the mechanical beast, you can let our Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang help you awaken its intelligence, or the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang can manufacture a mechanical prop to help the Soul Heart upgrade, and you can upgrade the Soul Heart yourself later."

"Fine, but I want to add one requirement." Lin Jing also knew the other party couldn't hand over the secret technique. He proposed this requirement just to make the other party refuse, and then take the opportunity to propose other requirements.

"If the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang researches how to control the material I mentioned earlier using other methods, you must share this method with me when the time comes."

"Deal."

"Then it's settled." Mo Qianyi stopped haggling: "The Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang has numerous Nascent Soul level mechanical beasts, with over a hundred types. What are your requirements for the mechanical beast?"

Lin Jing rubbed his chin, then stretched out his hand. Light permeated, and a mechanical turtle, two meters tall, standing on two legs, carrying heavy cannons on its shoulders, and holding a mechanical bamboo spear in its hand, was summoned out!

"This is..." The Elders of the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang scrutinized this mechanical turtle. A mechanical beast? This Lin Jing, is he really a mechanist? He has so many mechanical creations on him!

No wonder Lin Jing agreed to the trade; it turns out he already had a mechanical beast!

"Do you have design blueprints for a turtle-type mechanical beast? I want to upgrade and modify it." Lin Jing was a sentimental person. Although the mechanical bamboo turtle he originally created didn't have much use now and had been relegated to a gardener turtle helping the Pine-Leaf Rat irrigate spiritual plants...

But if there was an opportunity to upgrade it to a higher level, Lin Jing still wanted to give it a try.

After all... this was the combined product of his first and second mechanical creations...

It could be considered the old predecessor of the Mosquito-Powered Mecha, and Lin Jing had poured quite a bit of effort into it at the beginning of his cultivation.

"Turtle..." Mo Qianyi took one look and said: "Of course we have them. Currently, the Divine Mechanism Shanzhuang has two types of Nascent Soul level mechanical beasts regarding the turtle type."

"One is the Wave-Surging Turtle, a water-attribute mechanical beast. It is proficient in water-escape techniques and can also help cultivators dive into water areas for combat. It possesses terrifying ability to control water currents and can stir up giant waves to submerge a city."

"One is the Mountain-Peak Turtle, an earth-attribute mechanical beast. Its defensive power is astonishing, and it can repair damage on its own by consuming ores. It is a defensive mechanical beast and can help mechanists resist damage..."
