Chapter 64: Promotion Strategy (1)

~8 min read 1,521 words

For the past few days, Yang Tianxing has been busy with the recruitment of part-time university students. Although the advertisement for Room 101 in Building Z has become somewhat well-known within the Finance Institute, only about 40-plus students were ultimately willing to take on the part-time work.

One must also consider the characteristics of student part-time work, which are high turnover and strong spontaneity; they basically quit whenever they feel like it.

The reasons are also varied: being in a bad mood, a breakup, studying for certifications, or feeling too embarrassed to push sales.

Of course, there are those who can stick with it to the end; such students are either in financial difficulty or truly want to accomplish something.

Yang Tianxing belongs to the latter category. He coordinated the platform well in the early stages, even becoming an entrepreneurship project supported by the Finance Institute, which is a relatively high starting point for campus part-time jobs.

However, if one truly wants to convert the platform into economic benefits, superficial shouting is not enough. Ultimately, one must delve into every study classroom and every dormitory to promote it, maximizing face-to-face contact.

But Yang Tianxing cannot be at 101 all the time, and Liu Jiaoyue alone cannot handle recording, weighing, collecting, and organizing all at once. Someone else is needed to be stationed at 101, and those who "fish for three days and dry nets for two" won't do.

This person needs to be responsible and conscientious, and preferably a boy, because some physical labor is required.

Yang Tianxing set his sights on Fu Yiming.

Why Fu Yiming? Because Song Fei and Qian Jiale lack discipline, Li Ainan lacks a sense of responsibility, and Yi Min prefers to slack off and has recently been busy with an "online romance" with "Xiao Hu." All things considered, Fu Yiming fits the requirements in every aspect.

After returning to the dormitory in the evening, Yang Tianxing called Fu Yiming to the balcony to chat.

"Old Fu, you know what I've been busy with lately, right?"

"I know. I reckon the entire Department of Humanities and Social Sciences knows—the first person to start a business as a freshman, right?"

Fu Yiming said with a chuckle, "When are you opening for business? I have some letters here specifically saved for 101 to send. I'll definitely support your business."

"Good brother, but there is one more thing I'd like to ask for your help with."

"What is it?"

Yang Tianxing looked at Fu Yiming and said, "101 is short-handed, and I'd like to ask you to come over and lend a hand."

Fu Yiming was stunned for a moment: "Isn't Liu Jiaoyue from our class there?"

"She can't do it; she's just a young girl and can only handle some logistics work."

Yang Tianxing patted Fu Yiming on the shoulder: "When brothers are of one mind, they can cut through metal."

Fu Yiming thought for a moment and said, "I can do it for a short time, but I can't stay there forever. I'm still planning to study for a certification."

Yang Tianxing acted as if he hadn't heard him, opened the balcony door, and walked out: "You're studying for a certification? You're just going to surf the internet; what kind of excuse is that?"

"Number Two, I really want to study for a certification!"

Fu Yiming shouted from behind.

"Go to 101 after class; don't you dare forget."

"Damn it!"

Fu Yiming cursed. He clearly hadn't agreed, so how did it end up sounding like it was all settled?

After these matters were finalized, Yang Tianxing divided the 40-plus part-time students into seven teams, with about six people in each team.

He planned to spend a week, every night, following one team to run through dormitories and classrooms for promotion.

Monday, Team One.

The characteristic of this team was that they were all boys, so Yang Tianxing led them to the boys' dormitory for promotion.

Downstairs at the boys' dormitory, Yang Tianxing gave one final round of encouragement.

"I know everyone's goal isn't money, but rather to improve your own abilities through part-time work. Actually, I think the same way. But exercising ability isn't just talk; there is an opportunity right before us, and I hope everyone can cherish and value it."

If a person wants to successfully do something, there are three essential elements:

1. Always visit the site for research, and analyze specific problems specifically.

2. Always pay attention to morale, and always explain to your subordinates the theoretical basis for why we can win.

3. Always face difficulties head-on, always solve problems, and always lead the team personally to tackle the hardest tasks.

Without further ado, after finishing the pre-battle mobilization speech, Yang Tianxing led the team into the boys' dormitory to start "sweeping" one by one.

This kind of sweeping was indiscriminate; all sorts of problems and all sorts of dormitory environments were encountered.

Some students might become interested and would carefully ask about the difference between 101 and the Post Office. Yang Tianxing would then compare them based on price, shipping speed, and convenience.

University students mainly focus on price and convenience. Fortunately, the prices of Shentong Express are much lower than the Post Office. Furthermore, there are no courier companies that offer door-to-door pickup yet, so the 101 base that Yang Tianxing set up on campus has a huge advantage.

"If you want to send a package, you have to carry it to the Post Office in Hejiaying, but in the Finance Institute, you only need to send it to Room 101 in Building Z."

Yang Tianxing doesn't plan to play the "door-to-door pickup" trump card yet, and he doesn't even want to promote Shentong Express; his main subject of promotion is always "Room 101 in Building Z."

However, another problem also exists: the Post Office is a semi-governmental institution, while Shentong Express is a private enterprise. Some students have concerns about the safety of their packages.

Just as Yang Tianxing was about to explain, a boy in the first team spoke up: "Classmate, you're being too cautious. Our base is right in Room 101 in Building Z; you pass by it every time you go to class."

"As the saying goes, the monk can run, but the temple can't. What are you worried about? I'll just show you my student ID."

Yang Tianxing took a look; this boy was named Lin Bing, and he was a sophomore.

As Lin Bing spoke, he took out his student ID, and the other members of the first team followed suit and took out their student IDs. This actually made the concerned student blush: "I'm not doubting you; I was just asking. I happen to have a package here; I'll take it to 101 to send tomorrow."

At this time, Yang Tianxing also took out his student union ID: "Classmate, look, this is my ID as Vice Minister of the Student Union. If you're not at ease, you can write it down."

Someone took a look: "Yang Tianxing, Vice Minister of the Liaison Department of the Humanities and Social Sciences Department. He really is a student union cadre."

"Not only that."

Lin Bing added: "Our 101 base is also an entrepreneurship project supported by the school. In short, safety is definitely guaranteed."

By the time they finished saying this, out of the six people in the dormitory, four were already willing to go to 101 to send packages tomorrow.

After leaving this dormitory, the members of the first team all felt quite excited. This was a great start.

Yang Tianxing was quite calm, because there would inevitably be dormitories that would pour cold water on them.

Sure enough, they didn't even make it through two dormitories before encountering a situation. In this dormitory, everyone was doing their own thing, ignoring each other, and even more so ignoring Yang Tianxing and his group. The dormitory atmosphere was simply at freezing point.

Yang Tianxing knew that this was a problem with the dormitory relationships, which is very common in universities. However, the promotion could not stop just because the other party's dormitory had problems; he definitely had to bite the bullet and speak up.

Actually, Yang Tianxing felt it was quite good to encounter this, because now that they face more problems, the others will know how to handle such situations when they promote on their own.

Yang Tianxing coughed: "Good evening, classmates. We are from Room 101 in Building Z..."

After the self-introduction was finished, the dormitory remained quiet. Those who were reading continued reading, and those who were doing laundry continued doing laundry.

There was no response; the atmosphere was terribly cold.

Yang Tianxing felt it didn't matter, nor did he feel awkward, but he didn't linger either; he put down a few flyers and went to the next dormitory.

After finishing the remaining dormitories on this floor, while returning, he passed by the door of this abnormal dormitory again, and someone discovered the flyer for 101 in the trash can.

This indicated that they had thrown it out without even looking at it.
