Chapter 199: Pure Yin Realm: Under the Favor of the Great Yin, He Emerges

~9 min read 1,655 words

“Madison, how big is the gap between you and Jiali now?” Maria suddenly asked.

Hearing this, Madison tucked a strand of golden hair behind her ear and said, “What are you talking about? When have I ever been behind her? I’m just as strong as she is now.”

Maria’s lips twitched slightly—her best friend was always like this, with such bizarre self-esteem.

“Mm-hmm, you’re right, so exactly how much behind are you?”

Madison pressed her lips together, her expression shifting between dark and light. “A little. According to her, I’ve just reached the level she was at two and a half years ago—I still can’t destroy a three-story building easily.”

“I don’t know how strong she is now, but it doesn’t matter—my bloodline has awakened. I feel immense potential within me. One day, I’ll crush Jiali under my feet.”

Madison spoke with venomous intensity.

For the past two years, her bloodline had been on the verge of awakening, and to help her awaken, Jiali—whose abilities were most similar—became the ideal training partner.

The result? A cold woman and a haughty woman colliding—and Madison, foolishly, challenged her.

What followed was something Madison never wanted to remember.

That’s how a small grudge formed.

Hearing this, Maria frowned—just as she’d suspected, Madison was no match for the other.

At that moment, “What about you? You’ve been swallowing those things all along—how far have you progressed?”

Madison asked.

Maria shook her head. “After completing Qi Gong, I chose the White Bone Bodhisattva Contemplation, but I’ve made no real progress yet. Though Emilia has gained some insight—she’s already entered the preliminary stage.”

“She’s inspired me too—I think I’ll be ready to attempt breaking through to Yin Spirit in another year or two.”

Madison looked envious. Is this what it feels like to be guided?

Even if you yourself can’t advance, another soul can pull you along—so long as that other soul gains insight, you gain too.

Isn’t that like two people cultivating together?

“Then you should be able to catch up to Emma, right?”

Maria smiled modestly, her thoughts clear in her expression.

But then—

“Catch up to me? Can you break through within a year?”

Click-click—

The elevator doors opened.

Emma stepped out, glancing calmly at Maria and Madison.

Her talent, even Louis had said, was exceptional. Combined with her dual-cultivation with Louis, she was now just one step away from fully comprehending the White Bone Bodhisattva Contemplation. She was confident she’d master it within half a year, then break through to Yin Spirit.

Maria and Madison, clearly, were far behind.

The moment they met, all three fell silent.

Then—

A faint rumbling arose.

All three hurried forward.

At the very depths—

A group of soldiers clad in black armor stood at attention, their armor always stocked with water.

Behind them, at the room’s door, clustered several deformed human gu corpses—now noticeably bulkier than before, all draped in black robes, radiating dense Yin energy, appearing sinister and terrifying.

Beneath their feet lay straw padding, and on either side of the room’s entrance were two straw doghouses, where Coal and Gold lay curled up, their fur glossy and sleek.

Within Cano International and the underground base, soldiers were divided into three categories.

Ordinary soldiers, enhanced soldiers, and exosuit soldiers.

Ordinary soldiers received no enhancement; enhanced soldiers were strengthened by witchcraft elixirs; exosuit soldiers were enhanced by witchcraft elixirs and parasitized by host species.

The black-armored soldiers were exosuit soldiers.

They were Louis’s core force.

Few in number, most stationed within the base.

Now, a loud crash came from the room they guarded. The lead black-armored captain halted, his faceplate retracting to reveal Tommy’s face.

“Finley, you don’t think the boss is in trouble, do you?”

At his feet stood Finley, the good-evil puppet, dressed in a miniature tailored trench coat, holding a tiny pistol, looking every bit the agent.

Finley shook his head violently.

Others couldn’t sense it, but he could—the presence of the Fire Man inside was growing stronger, and so was the feeling of being able to act—or not. How could anything go wrong?

Tommy nodded, easing his worries. He’d barely survived devil training—he hadn’t even gotten revenge on Andre, the bastard who’d dragged him here, and he didn’t want to die just because the boss did.

He unconsciously touched his head—something small resided inside.

As the rumbling grew louder, an inexplicable force emanated from within.

Emma and the others who had just arrived all froze.

“The moon…”

In their minds, a lone, cold, vast full moon hung in the dark starry sky, glowing with a pale white light.

Then—it drew nearer!

Almost crushing them!

The exosuit soldiers guarding the room also fell into stunned silence.

The disturbance continued spreading, reaching throughout the base, the prison, and the surrounding farmlands.

Then—

“Woof! Woof! Woof!”

A series of barks jolted everyone awake.

A small dog, like a lump of coal, instantly grew to adult size—majestic, full of spirit, lifting its head to roar.

Crack!

The bark, charged with exorcism power, shattered the illusion instantly.

Everyone returned to normal.

“Illusion?”

Maria stared grimly at Coal, and the room trembling faintly behind it.

……

Inside the room.

Louis hovered slightly, spotless, his body glowing with soft, moonlike radiance.

He looked like a living light source.

Above him, even the alloy ceiling couldn’t block a certain pull—his gaze pierced through the wall, through the earth, through air and sky…

Straight to the celestial body in the cosmos—the moon.

Louis thought, and—

The blood elixir, crafted half a year ago and nurtured ever since by the Blood River Pearl, shot out obediently, spinning in midair.

Simultaneously, a spiritual form leapt from his body—it was Louis’s Yin Spirit.

Now, the Yin Spirit was ninety-nine percent solidified, just one step away from complete solidity—entering Pure Yin Realm.

The Yin Spirit swallowed the blood elixir whole.

In an instant—

The Yin Spirit dissolved the elixir, transforming it into an endless stream of pure magic power that flooded his entire body. With this sudden surge of immense power, the Yin Spirit shot upward at blazing speed.

Spiritual and physical forms perceived space differently—this meant Louis moved with astonishing speed.

As if there were no resistance at all.

Soon, he broke through the ground.

Facing the sunlight directly.

Normally, one would wait for nightfall to avoid being burned by sunlight—but here, the sun had lost its supreme Yang dominance; its harm to the Yin Spirit was minimal, so this restriction no longer applied.

The wind howled…

Leaves rustled…

Humans spoke…

Animals moved…

Even insects made subtle motions…

At this moment, Louis communed with heaven and earth.

When he reached high altitude and the dim moonlight became noticeably brighter—

Louis’s Yin Spirit began absorbing the torrent of lunar essence.

Here—

The moon’s power had no rivals. Whatever he desired, the moon acted like a devoted nurse, lavishly and endlessly supplying him.

Want more? Take it.

No need to fight. No need to scheme.

This continued for two hours.

Pop!

A silent crack echoed.

In the sky, Louis’s Yin Spirit fully solidified—he entered the Pure Yin Realm, his Yin Spirit perfected.

Louis opened his eyes, feeling the Yin Spirit as tangible as a physical form, and clenched his fist. “If I were to cultivate the Ghost Dao now, would I be able to enter the Underworld and become a modest Yin Spirit?”

He shifted his thoughts.

His entire figure dissolved into an arc of light and descended to the ground.

Inside the underground base.

The Yin Spirit returned to its place.

Louis snapped his eyes open.

A full moon flashed briefly within his eyes.

“The Pure Yin Realm is complete—but my gains aren’t limited to this.”

“Did the Moon favor me?”

Louis murmured, uncertainty lacing his voice.

There was no help for it; the visualization diagrams had mentioned that a rare few prodigies were born with stellar destinies.

If blessed by even the faintest star, cultivation would often feel divinely aided—even the weakest star could forge a minor genius.

How much more so for the Moon, a great star?

According to the visualization diagrams, the Moon was generally identified as the Taiyin Star.

One of the supreme stars.

“Why?”

Louis’s gaze was filled with confusion—he’d wondered this since the moment he absorbed the lunar essence. The Moon had poured itself into his body like a mad thing, utterly without restraint.

This contradicted everything the visualization diagrams taught!

Could it be because of this world’s peculiar nature?

Unable to understand, Louis could only blame it on that.

Feeling the phantom moon hanging in his mind, and the Divine Lord’s image at its center slowly shifting into his own face, Louis calmed his spirit.

It was a good thing, anyway. Let’s see how things develop from here.

Besides, now that he’d reached the Pure Yin Realm, all his accumulated reserves were spent. Further seclusion would yield no progress.

It was time to emerge.

Exactly two and a half years had passed; he had only offered cursory guidance and never truly examined things closely.

He wondered what the outside world looked like now.

Louis shifted his thoughts.

In an instant, all dust in the room coalesced and vanished, cleansed away.

Tap-tap-tap—

Creak—

The door opened automatically.

His gaze met the same blinding fluorescent light.

Then his dog, and the guard unit.

Oh, and Emma, Maria, Madison—wait, where’s Jiali?

He swept his Yin Spirit’s perception around.

Above the prison, at the elevator, he “saw” Jiali descending.

The two dogs, most alert and closest, shot over instantly, tails wagging furiously, nuzzling against Louis’s calves.

“Boss!” Tang Mi cried out in delight.

He was immediately shoved aside by Emma, and the three women approached; the guard unit stepped aside automatically.

Louis’s lips curled slightly as he gave a slight nod to Tang Mi and his guard unit.

“Louis!”

Looking at the three women, and Jiali just arriving, Louis smiled.

“Long time no see.”
