Chapter 28: Reversal! Unexpected Intrusion!

~5 min read 972 words

!!!

Killing intent surged.

At this moment, Estelle’s entire gaze turned terrifyingly monstrous—a primal, frenzied hunger for blood.

Any ordinary child brought here would have been frozen in terror, left at Estelle’s mercy.

Unfortunately, Emma is not among them.

[5] But Emma was not among them.

She sidestepped nimbly, yanked the black ribbon from Estelle’s hand, revealing the thick, ugly scar beneath—already healed but grotesque.

Estelle trembled violently, lunged against Emma, snatched the ribbon back, and frantically wrapped it around her wrist—once, twice…

Yet even pinned against the wall, Emma still smiled brightly.

“Sister, don’t even think about killing me to silence me—I’ve already written this secret down. If you don’t erase it in time, do you think Dad will see it?”

Estelle, who had been stealthily slipping her hand into her skirt to retrieve a knife, froze instantly. Her palm clamped around Emma’s throat. “What are you trying to do?!”

“What am I trying to do? I just think you’re too dangerous. I’m giving you a warning.”

“Of course, we could talk,” Emma suddenly changed her tone.

Talk?

Emma must have some hidden agenda.

But she named the Sarn Institution—she clearly knows my secret. What do I do?

Kill her? Must kill her. But first, I must confirm whether she’s telling the truth…

Estelle’s twisted yet mature mind swiftly reached a decision: “Fine. Of course.”

Estelle released her grip on Emma’s throat.

“Let’s go.”

“Where?”

“You don’t want to talk here, do you? Of course, it’s not my secret—I don’t mind.” Emma shrugged, smiling indifferently.

Estelle halted her step, but inside, joy surged. Children are still children—they think so poorly. She actually wants to talk outside with me. Heh.

A brilliant idea formed in her mind.

“We can go out. I know a secluded place. Let’s go there.”

“Okay.” Emma acted like any ordinary child, utterly unconcerned.

“Wait, I need to tell my friend first.”

After speaking, Estelle hurried toward the direction Yulinka had left.

Watching Estelle’s back, Emma frowned. Friend?

That was never part of her and Louis’s plan.

But now it’s too late to turn back. The arrow is on the string—step by step, we’ll see.

She glanced behind her.

On the other side, Estelle met Yulinka returning with something in hand. “Estelle? What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. My little sister wants to play too. I thought I’d bring her along. She walks slowly—I’ll go ahead and set up a prank to scare her.”

Sister?

She has a sister?

Yulinka’s eyes flickered slightly, then she smiled. “Sure, no problem. I’ll go ahead then.”

“Thanks so much, Yulinka—you’re my best friend.” Estelle hugged Yulinka tightly.

They parted. Estelle returned to find Emma.

Meanwhile, Yulinka, walking alone toward the abandoned classroom, wore a cold expression.

Abandoned Classroom Building.

Due to rumors of suicides, the classrooms here were abandoned—though occasionally, students still came to play.

Graffiti covered the walls, and desks and chairs were piled in the corners.

And today,

New visitors arrived.

Emma and Estelle arrived together.

Estelle’s gaze darted around, then she spotted Yulinka approaching.

Perfect. Next…

Yulinka walked up, smiling warmly, and greeted Emma. “Hi, I’m your sister’s friend. I’m Yulinka.”

Emma said nothing, sizing up Yulinka, her mind unsettled.

Should she call Louis out now?

And why did Estelle do this? Doesn’t she fear Emma exposing the secret?

At that moment, Estelle pushed both of them forward into the classroom. “Alright, come on—we can talk here…”

Yulinka, pushed to the front, was about to open the door when she suddenly dodged Estelle’s shove—instead, she shoved Estelle inside.

The half-open door swung wide. A metal barrel dropped from above, crashing directly onto Estelle’s head, knocking her to the ground!

CLANG!!

The metallic crash jolted Emma awake. She stepped back quickly.

There, Yulinka stood at the only exit, smiling at her.

“I don’t understand.”

“Estelle, why did you want to harm me? Oh right—your ‘sister’ too?”

Yulinka asked in a sweet, childish voice, stepping forward slowly, pulling out spray paint and a lighter from the corner, aiming them at Emma.

She puckered her lips.

Signaling Emma to move inside.

Soon,

In the classroom’s corner, Emma and Estelle stood together.

Drops of blood dripped from Estelle’s chin, smearing her makeup into a grotesque mix of black and red.

Leaning against the wall, she glared fiercely at Yulinka.

Yulinka shook her head. “Estelle, why?”

“You’re new here—you shouldn’t know anything about me. So what did I do to you? And your ‘sister’—you lured me here, then brought her too. You planned to eliminate us both, didn’t you?”

Yulinka glanced at the blood-smeared barrel by the door, then at the rope and axe already placed in the corner—her eyes slowly filled with malice.

Estelle had left too many openings. Before, I thought she might become a sister—I didn’t pay attention. But just now, she was too fake!

Trying to fool a child?

Once the illusion shattered, every inconsistency became obvious. So I played along—and once we arrived, I checked carefully. I found the trap in the leftmost abandoned classroom.

Then I just pushed Estelle right into it.

I tricked the arrogant Estelle—but I still can’t understand why.

Could it be she doesn’t want me joining the new family?

That’s unlikely…

Facing Yulinka’s questions,

Estelle forced a smile. Maybe, perhaps, she could try fooling her again?

“Actually, this is all because of my sister, Emma—”

Before she finished speaking,

A faint sound came from outside—growing louder, clearer.

“…”

“Madison, are we really going to play here? It feels creepy… so cold.”

“Come on, Maria, stop being such a coward. You’ll get mocked at school if you keep acting like this. Look—this classroom looks just… not… right?!”

Madison pulled Maria, both staring in shock at the scene inside.

Blood! Rope! Axe!

And three girls—dark, fierce, or sneering?

What the hell is going on?!
