Chapter 567: Her Wedding Invitation
"Xia Xuerou!"
Xia Huiya suddenly shouted her mother's name at Jiang Baobao.
Jiang Baobao was stunned upon hearing this.
Xia Huiya, however, suddenly burst into wild, hysterical laughter, though tears slid down from her eyes.
"Why! Why on earth! Why have you lived a better life than me your entire life! Why can I never compare to you no matter what!"
She roared loudly, and as she spoke, she laughed again: "So what if I can't compare! But you have a short life!"
"Xia Huiya!!!"
Hearing her bring up the most painful thing in her heart, a fierce glint flashed across the depths of Jiang Baobao's eyes.
Xia Huiya, however, could not hear her at all; she simply muttered nonsense to herself, as if she had truly descended into madness.
Jiang Baobao stared at her for a few seconds, then turned and left the room without hesitation.
"Ms. Jiang."
The police officer guarding outside the door saw her come out and hurriedly greeted her.
"Mm."
Jiang Baobao acknowledged him, then said in a low voice: "Xia Huiya has gone mad. Arrange for her to be moved to the special prison for the mentally ill, and then I would like to see Lu Guohui."
"Understood. Do we need to inform Mr. Li about the prisoner's situation..."
"Tell him."
Jiang Baobao did not want to hide it from Li Beijue, and even if she did, he would find out sooner or later.
The police officer nodded and left, and not long after, he took her to see Lu Guohui.
Compared to Xia Huiya, Lu Guohui looked much more composed.
Although his body was covered in overlapping new and old wounds, his spirit seemed alright.
"What are you here for?"
Lu Guohui was somewhat surprised to see Jiang Baobao and asked in a gloomy tone.
Jiang Baobao could not be bothered to reminisce with him and got straight to the point, throwing photos of Lu Qing'er in front of him.
"I'm here to let you admire what your daughter has been doing lately, and by the way, don't count on her being able to save you two."
Lu Guohui lowered his head and glanced at the photos on the table, his expression changing instantly.
"This... Qing'er, she..."
"She has fallen this far; she now relies on selling her own body to make money."
Jiang Baobao said these provocative words ruthlessly.
Then, without waiting for Lu Guohui to speak, she continued: "Also, I have already shown these photos to Xia Huiya, but her ability to handle stress is clearly not as good as yours; she couldn't take the stimulation and has gone mad."
"What did you say?"
Lu Guohui frowned fiercely and sprang up from his stool: "Jiang Baobao! Do you have any conscience left! How could our family have raised such an ungrateful wretch like you! If I had known you would return kindness with enmity like this, I should have sent you away before you came of age! There were plenty of men who had their eyes on you back then anyway! With that slutty face of yours, you should have been serving men!"
"Is that so?"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Baobao was not angry; instead, she laughed: "Then I really must thank you. But it's a pity that the one who has fallen to the point of serving men now isn't me, but your precious daughter. She looks like... she was born to be in this line of work..."
Jiang Baobao left the photos behind, not bothering to say anything more to him, and walked two steps toward the door.
Lu Guohui continued to curse at her behind her back.
Jiang Baobao suddenly stopped at the door, pretending as if she had just thought of something, and kindly reminded him: "By the way, it seems my cousin really likes this line of work. From now on, every month, I will have someone send over some photos of her at work, so you won't have to miss her."
Jiang Baobao dropped that final sentence and turned to leave without hesitation, shutting all the angry curses behind the door.
The last bit of pent-up resentment in her heart was finally completely eradicated.
Regardless of whether Xia Huiya was truly mad or faking it, as long as she and Lu Guohui were alive for one more day, she would make them watch with their own eyes just how far Lu Qing'er would fall!
Two more days passed—
Jiang Chenghao specifically took a weekend off to come to the Li Mansion to visit the three little ones.
Seeing the group playing a racing game in the living room, Jiang Baobao turned and went to the kitchen, intending to get some snacks for everyone to eat together.
But just as she walked in, she heard the villa's doorbell ring.
Zheng Bo was still resting these past few days.
Jiang Baobao had seen the group playing happily earlier and hadn't kept other servants in the living room, so she had to go open the door herself.
Just as she turned around, a figure was faster than her.
Jiang Chenghao pulled open the villa door and saw a young man in a suit standing outside.
"Hello, may I ask if Mrs. Li is in?"
The man asked very politely.
Although Li Beijue and Jiang Baobao were not yet married, their relationship was known to everyone, and with three children, those around them had long since tactfully changed how they addressed her.
Jiang Chenghao was just about to speak when he heard Jiang Baobao already walking over.
"Are you looking for me? May I ask what the matter is?"
She didn't recognize the person either and asked casually.
As soon as she finished speaking, she saw the other party respectfully take out a very exquisite, flat, rectangular box from his pocket.
"This is the wedding invitation for my young lady; she specifically asked me to deliver it to Mrs. Li."
"Your young lady..."
Jiang Baobao was stunned for a moment.
The other party hurriedly explained: "The Liu Family, Ms. Liu Xin'ai."
"Oh, okay, thank you. Please help me tell Xinaijie that I will definitely attend the wedding."
Jiang Baobao hurriedly accepted it, and as she spoke, she cast an uneasy glance at Jiang Chenghao beside her, feeling somewhat helpless inside.
Sigh... why did they have to come and deliver it today of all days?
Of all times, they had to pick today when Uncle was here...
Jiang Baobao put the invitation away, watched the other person leave, and only then hurriedly closed the door.
Immediately afterward, she looked at Jiang Chenghao, feeling somewhat at a loss.
Should she say something to comfort Uncle?
Or should she act as if nothing had happened?
Just as Jiang Baobao was thinking this, she heard Jiang Chenghao suddenly say softly, "Baobao, could you lend me the invitation to take a look?"
"Of course!"
Jiang Baobao agreed without hesitation and hurriedly handed the small box in her hand to him.
Jiang Chenghao lowered his head and opened the lid, seeing an invitation with intricate patterns and embossed gold lettering lying inside the box.
One look told him it had been specially designed by someone.
"Uncle..."
Jiang Baobao called out to him softly, her tone somewhat cautious.
Jiang Chenghao did not speak; he simply picked up the invitation and opened it.
The date and venue of the wedding were clearly written on it.
It was at the largest church in the city.
And the name written after the groom was: Qin Yiyan.
Jiang Chenghao could not help but recall the scene he had seen at the banquet that day, and a dark glint flashed fiercely across his eyes.
Xin'ai would not be happy with him...
Had she really... made her decision?
Jiang Chenghao stared at Liu Xin'ai's name for a long while before closing the invitation again and carefully putting it back.
Jiang Baobao hurriedly took it, wishing she could hide the invitation away so he wouldn't have to look at it and feel sad.
Immediately afterward, she heard Jiang Chenghao suddenly ask, "Baobao, can you do me a favor?"
