Chapter 692: Actually Falling Asleep Beside Him

~7 min read 1,280 words

Standing at the doorway, Cai Xiaotang clutched her room card, still hesitating for a moment.

The alcohol was rising to her head; although she wasn't drunk, her head felt somewhat heavy.

"Big sister, are you going to open the door? You aren't suddenly having second thoughts, are you?"

The boy leaned against the doorframe with his arms crossed, and seeing Cai Xiaotang standing there foolishly in a daze, he couldn't help but tease her.

Cai Xiaotang was called out on her thoughts, and her face immediately felt awkward; she hurriedly responded, swiped the door open, and walked inside quickly.

A dark glint flashed in the boy's eyes, and the corners of his lips curled up slightly.

With a "click," the room door closed.

Hearing the sound, Cai Xiaotang's entire body immediately tensed up involuntarily.

Now they really were a lone man and a lone woman alone in a room together...

And she didn't know the other person at all; she didn't even know what his name was!

"You go rest; this side is mine."

The boy seemed to notice her nervousness, and as he spoke, he took the initiative to sit on the sofa and open his computer.

Cai Xiaotang glanced at him twice, and seeing that he was already clattering away at the computer, she said nothing more and turned to go into the inner suite.

She closed the bedroom door, and only then did she let out a sigh of relief.

The presence of a stranger outside the room made her feel somewhat strange.

In the past, she would never have agreed to such an inexplicable request.

But tonight...

Cai Xiaotang raised an eyebrow, feeling her eyelids growing heavier and heavier.

"I should just go take a shower first... it'll be easier to fall asleep after that..."

Cai Xiaotang muttered to herself and hurriedly turned to walk toward the bathroom.

She took a quick shower, wrapped herself up tightly, and prepared to get into bed to sleep.

But just as she lifted the quilt, she suddenly thought of something.

There was only a sofa outside... and not even a blanket.

That boy really shouldn't be a bad person; should she bring him something so he doesn't catch a cold?

Thinking this, Cai Xiaotang fought through her sleepiness, sat up from the bed, and walked toward the wardrobe not far away.

Fortunately, there was indeed a spare quilt inside.

She hugged it in one arm, grabbed a pillow from the bed, pulled the door open, and walked out.

The boy was still maintaining his previous posture, looking at the computer, his hands still clattering away without stopping.

Hearing the sound, he turned his head to look over, then raised his eyebrows in surprise.

"For me? Thanks."

Seeing Cai Xiaotang holding the quilt and pillow, he asked with a smile.

"Yeah, I was afraid you'd freeze to death."

Cai Xiaotang responded, tossed the items in her hands onto the sofa casually, and suddenly felt a bit strange.

Was it because of the alcohol?

Since when was she so quick to get familiar with people?

She had only just met this boy... why did it feel like the two of them were very close?

As she thought about this, her gaze swept casually toward the screen.

She then froze slightly.

"Are you working on code?"

Cai Xiaotang frowned as she looked at the characters she couldn't understand at all but found somewhat familiar, thinking of the things Jiang Baobao was always tinkering with.

"You can even read this?"

The boy was somewhat surprised.

Cai Xiaotang simply sat down on the sofa and suddenly asked, "You wouldn't happen to be a hacker, would you? The people chasing you today... was it because of this?"

"Uh..."

Not expecting her to be so sharp, a flash of unnaturalness appeared on the boy's face.

Cai Xiaotang, however, continued in an indifferent tone: "It doesn't matter if you are; I have a friend who does this too. I often watch her fiddle with these things; it's actually quite interesting..."

"I see."

Hearing her say this, the boy finally let out a sigh of relief. Then, seeing that she seemed quite interested, he simply held up his computer to demonstrate: "It really is interesting. Do you want to learn?"

"Me?"

Cai Xiaotang raised an eyebrow: "If I wanted to learn, I'd just go find my friend. She's a very formidable hacker."

"Is that so?"

The boy curled his lips in disbelief, a feeling unique to young people called "defiance" appearing on his face.

He was a very formidable hacker too, alright?

But... looking at how she didn't seem to know much about this circle, she probably wouldn't know who he was even if he told her his name.

The boy thought this, and then couldn't help but pause for a moment.

Why would he want to tell her his identity?

Didn't he usually keep it well hidden?

"Tsk..."

He frowned slightly, seemingly dissatisfied with himself, and continued tinkering with the things in his hands.

Then he heard Cai Xiaotang suddenly ask: "I haven't even asked what your name is yet, even though you already know what mine is."

"Click—"

The sound of keyboard tapping suddenly stopped.

A trace of hesitation flashed across the boy's face.

Seeing that he didn't speak, Cai Xiaotang couldn't help but look a bit suspicious: "You can't even say your name? So mysterious?"

"There's nothing I can't say."

The hesitation on the boy's face instantly turned into a smile: "Big sister can call me Aze."

"Aze?"

Cai Xiaotang repeated it; she knew at once that this wasn't his real name, but she didn't continue to press him.

Silence returned between the two of them.

The "click-clack" of the keyboard was so rhythmic that, before long, Cai Xiaotang's eyes, fixed on the lines of code on the screen, couldn't help but glaze over.

And then... she just fell asleep like that.

Half an hour later—Aze finished handling the code in his hands, and catching a glimpse of Cai Xiaotang swaying, he couldn't help but ask with amusement: "Big sister, if you're sleepy, why don't you go back..."

"..."

He hadn't even finished his sentence when he couldn't help but freeze for a moment.

Immediately after, he laughed helplessly.

Isn't she too unguarded?

Clearly, she was incredibly vigilant before entering the door just now, and now she's just sitting right in front of him and fallen asleep?

Should he call her stupid, or just big-hearted?

Does she not know that her looks make it very easy to attract men?

It's a good thing he really is a gentleman... if it were any other man...

Aze's gaze swept over Cai Xiaotang's flushed little face as she slept, and suddenly, as a prank, he reached out and flicked her forehead hard!

"Ah!"

Cai Xiaotang frowned sharply, opened her eyes groggily, and instinctively reached out to cover her forehead.

Her vision was blurry, and she only felt her cheeks burning and was sleepy as death—the most normal reaction to having had a nightcap.

But...

Why was there a man in her room?

Cai Xiaotang was dizzy and had already cast previous events to the back of her mind; she just squinted at Aze, looking dazed.

"If you're sleepy, go to bed."

Aze said with amusement.

No sooner had he finished speaking than he saw Cai Xiaotang lean in abruptly.

"You..."

Her tone was a bit sluggish; she paused for a long while before continuing to ask: "Who... are you? Why... are you in my room..."

Aze: "..."

What is going on?

She only slept for half an hour, and she's already lost her memory?

Or is she drunk?
