Chapter 267: If I Can't Have It, No One Else Can
Outside the Laboratory gate.
A tall, burly white man stood with his arms crossed, watching the gate coldly.
Two security personnel in special gear held high-speed cutters, working in coordination to continuously cut through the special alloy gate.
Large sprays of sparks shot out into the surroundings, like brilliant fireworks.
About twenty-some minutes later.
The thick alloy gate was cut open to reveal a massive hole large enough to accommodate two people.
"Boom!"
One of them gave a hard push, and the heavy metal gate crashed inward toward the room.
A partial view of the interior was presented to the security personnel.
At the signal of the tall white man, the security chief Fanni, the security personnel had long been prepared; seeing the gate open, they held their guns and slowly approached the opening.
More of the interior scene came into view.
Someone noticed that the researchers inside were all huddled together, their expressions looking extremely strange.
Just then.
A black shadow suddenly rushed out from a corner, its speed as fast as a gale, making it impossible for anyone to see its face or movements clearly.
But someone reacted quickly, instinctively firing their gun at the incoming shadow.
However.
The shadow seemed completely unfazed.
It rushed into the crowd without a moment's pause.
"Sshh!"
A blade flashed.
Blood sprayed.
In the blink of an eye, two people were killed.
"Open fire! It's a transformed one!"
"He's charging over, scatter!"
The crowd was in a state of chaos; those on the periphery scrambled to run away, while the few at the very front were cut down by the blade in their confusion.
"Hold your ground! It's just a transformed one, everyone retreat in an orderly fashion!"
Security chief Fanni shouted.
Standing at the very edge of the crowd with a clear view, he had seen the entire process of the transformed one's attack and, through the transformed one's clothing, confirmed that the target was indeed Mike.
That Mike, who had always lived in luxury and carried himself like an aristocrat, would actually be willing to voluntarily inject the Transformation Agent was truly beyond his expectations.
However, the orders from his superiors were to capture Mike alive if possible; since the target had injected the Transformation Agent, no one could guarantee how long he would live.
After all, he knew that this agent had major flaws; over the past two or three months of experiments, several hundred people had already died.
"Must capture him as soon as possible!"
"Otherwise, if the drug's effect suddenly kicks in and he dies, that would be troublesome!"
Fanni thought to himself and shouted orders:
"Everyone pay attention, this transformed one is the target, do not attack vital points! Aim for the legs!"
While shouting, he raised his pistol, attempting to aim at Mike, who was rampaging through the crowd, but found that the target's speed was simply too fast and he was blocked by the bodies of his own companions, leaving him with no opportunity to fire.
Let alone accurately attack the legs.
"Damn it!"
He cursed inwardly.
In just two or three seconds, five security personnel were killed in succession.
But the others had by now all retreated, leaving enough space for shooting.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The sound of gunfire was incessant.
Bullets landed on Mike's thick, sturdy legs, leaving white marks on the iron-hard dark green scales, but never knocking off a single scale.
Mike did not pause for a second, charging through the hail of bullets into the crowd, the sharp scalpel in his hand easily leaving fatal wounds on one security guard after another.
"Damn it! He's not afraid of bullets!"
"Attack the vital points!"
"Kill him!"
Seeing this, the security personnel could no longer heed Chief Fanni's orders; while dodging everywhere, they attempted to shoot at vital points, wanting to kill Mike.
But it was already too late.
Out of a total of twelve security personnel, nine were killed by Mike in less than ten seconds.
The remaining three, even if they attacked regardless of the cost, were no match for Mike at this moment and were killed one by one.
Finally, only Chief Fanni remained, looking at Mike in terror and trembling as he said:
"Mike! You can't escape!"
"You have completely turned into a monster; this world has no place for you..."
"Is that so?"
Mike smiled coldly: "Too bad, you won't live to see that day."
Having said that, a blade flashed, and a large spray of blood splattered onto him, making his ugly, scale-covered body look even more ferocious and terrifying.
Watching Chief Fanni's tall body crash to the ground, Mike looked around.
The corpses everywhere, the bodies that were not yet fully dead and still twitching, the blood flowing all over the ground, and the desperate wails lingering in his ears gave rise to a strange sense of pleasure in his heart.
"This is what a true powerhouse is!"
"To kill or spare, to do exactly as one pleases!"
"How many years! How many years has it been since I felt such a powerful body!"
Mike lowered his head and clenched his fists.
Feeling the explosive power within his body, looking at his own thick, sturdy arms and the deep green scales on them capable of resisting bullets, he felt not a shred of disappointment at becoming a monster, but was instead filled with pride and excitement.
"This is the true future of humanity!"
"Those enhanced ones of Su Xin are nothing but a pile of mud in front of me!"
Mike turned around, stepped over the blood, walked through the corpses covering the floor, and returned to the Laboratory.
Professor Gailun and the others watched him nervously, seemingly terrified of being casually killed by him.
Seeing this scene, Mike couldn't help but grin, though his voice was unusually cold:
"Rest assured, I will not harm you."
"You are my most important researchers; I owe my current powerful strength entirely to your knowledge and technology."
"In the future, this technology must continue to be studied in depth and promoted to the whole world, so that everyone can possess this kind of powerful strength and achieve universal evolution; all of this depends on you..."
Before he could finish his words, he suddenly felt his legs go weak, as if he hadn't eaten for over ten days, and his body suddenly became powerless.
At the same time, a violent, twisting pain came from within his body, making him unable to stop himself from vomiting a large mouthful of blood mixed with unknown flesh and tissue.
"What... is going on?"
Mike's face showed panic as he muttered.
"Boss, this serum has not yet been verified, the risk of death is extremely high..."
In the distance, Professor Gailun offered a reminder.
"Damn it! Why didn't you say so earlier!"
Mike's face suddenly turned ferocious; he roared at Professor Gailun and strode forward.
The crowd hurriedly dodged.
Yet even in his weakened state, Mike's physical attributes in every aspect far exceeded those of the others, and he grabbed Professor Gailun in an instant.
"Boss, I warned you beforehand! This serum hasn't been successfully researched yet..."
Professor Gailun's face was full of terror, not daring to look directly at Chairman Mike, who had already turned into a monster, fearing he would be torn to shreds by the other party at any moment.
Mike's expression shifted for a moment, but in the end, he did not kill the other party, instead saying coldly:
"Take me to the Alien Cold Storage!"
"Boss, you..."
Professor Gailun had wanted to ask about Mike's purpose, but seeing the coldness on that ferocious and terrifying face, he had no choice but to swallow his words.
The two left the Laboratory.
They walked quickly in the direction of the other side.
While walking through the pile of corpses, Mike thought for a moment, then picked up two guns before continuing to follow Professor Gailun's footsteps; along the way, he vomited two more large mouthfuls of blood, his body grew even weaker, and the twisting pain in his abdomen became more intense.
"Damn it! It seems I really can't hold on!"
Mike gripped the guns in his hands tightly, his heart filled with a chill, his eyes full of determination.
The two moved through the building and soon arrived outside the nearby cold storage room where the alien was kept.
After taking a few bullets to kill the two security personnel responsible for guarding it, a few shallow gunshot wounds were left on Mike's body.
Perhaps because they were being held back for some reason, none of the other security personnel rushed over to intercept them.
This made Mike breathe a slight sigh of relief.
He was becoming weaker and weaker now; if he encountered a few more armed security personnel, he could not guarantee he would be able to kill them successfully.
After catching his breath, he looked at Professor Gailun, who was verifying his identity, and urged:
"Hurry up!"
"I understand!"
Gailun replied, brought his eyes a few centimeters in front of a camera, and then proceeded to verify the password and palm print.
The next moment, the heavy door opened.
Mike entered impatiently; after Professor Gailun also came in, just as he was preparing to turn back to close the door, he heard a burst of rapid and dense footsteps coming from outside.
"Finally here, are you? Too bad it's too late!"
Mike sneered, took Professor Gailun through another door inside, and entered the inner chamber, which was the Alien Cold Storage.
After another round of identity verification, the door to the actual cold storage was finally able to be opened.
A gust of visible cold air rushed toward his face, and even Mike, whose body had been greatly enhanced, couldn't help but shiver.
But he couldn't care about that much, and strode into the cold storage.
Behind him, Professor Gailun couldn't help but ask:
"Boss, what exactly are you trying to do?"
"I am going to destroy all of this; if I cannot have it, no one else will!"
Mike laughed maniacally, strode to a crystal coffin, and flipped it open without hesitation.
Inside the crystal coffin, a humanoid monster about two meters tall lay quietly.
The monster was covered in ink-green scales, like the armor of an ancient general, faintly gleaming with a metallic luster; it looked extremely textured, and was not in the same league as the scales on Mike's body.
Its arms were long, its build was burly, and its face was similar to a human's, only its two ears were square, looking like some kind of mechanical device.
From a human aesthetic point of view, if one didn't count the scales on its body and the gill-like slits on the sides of its cheeks, its features could be considered handsome.
It was just a pity that it had no breath and no heartbeat; it had clearly been dead for a long time.
"The alien is my property; if I am destined to die, none of you will ever get to have it!"
Mike leaned toward the crystal coffin, his expression shifting for a moment, then he put down the gun in his hand and reached both hands toward the alien's body.
"Boss! You cannot harm it!"
"It is a precious asset of humanity, I beg you, do not harm it!"
Professor Gailun stood at the entrance of the cold storage room, unable to help but shiver under the oncoming cold air, then spoke urgently.
Mike turned his head, his cold, gloomy gaze sweeping over Professor Gailun, then he turned his head back indifferently and, without the slightest hesitation, grabbed the alien's body and lifted it up with some difficulty.
The constant, twisting pain coming from within his body meant Mike was no longer as strong as before; his strength was only slightly better than his original aged state.
Dragging the alien's body, which weighed nearly two hundred jin, Mike walked toward the outside of the cold storage room with difficulty.
To destroy an alien body that had been frozen for nearly a hundred years, the simplest and most thorough method was to expose it to a room-temperature environment.
The other party's corpse would rapidly deteriorate, rot, and completely lose its research value.
However.
What Mike did not notice was that when he dragged the alien body outside the cold storage room, the latter's eyelids twitched slightly.
