Chapter 308
“Qin, it’s really you.”
Emily rushed over excitedly, not caring this was a public place, and threw her arms around him.
Seeing this, Qin Yun quickly reached out to prevent her from falling.
Holding Qin Yun tightly, Emily laughed happily: “Qin, why are you still in Kenya? Haven’t you gone back home yet?”
Then, without warning, she kissed him right on the cheek.
Qin Yun was genuinely baffled by her enthusiasm: “I’m just wandering around. Since I’m here anyway, I’m exploring Kenya.”
As he spoke, he glanced at a girl who had just caught up behind Emily, a flicker of admiration crossing his eyes.
The girl was beautiful; though she wore a headscarf like the local Kenyan women, her skin peeking through was dazzlingly pale.
Her figure was excellent too—long, straight legs that tightened her jeans, drawing stares from several men at the barbecue joint.
“We’re so fatefully connected, Qin!” Emily released her embrace and grinned, then remembered the girl behind her: “Qin, this is my best friend, Scarlett.”
Saying that, she pulled Scarlett down to sit.
“Scarlett, this is Qin—the one I’ve told you about. You’re his loyal fan; get to know him properly.”
Scarlett extended her hand: “Qin, hello. I really like you.”
Qin Yun shook her hand: “Thank you. Miss Scarlett, you’re beautiful. It’s an honor to earn your favor.”
Scarlett’s gaze at him didn’t resemble that of a fan—Emily was clearly the obsessed one.
“This place is chaotic. Why did two girls like you come here?”
Qin Yun was puzzled. Emily was pretty enough, but Scarlett clearly came from privilege—why would she come to a place like Garissa?
Emily shrugged, skewered a piece of meat from Qin Yun’s plate, and shoved it into her mouth: “Who dares touch us? They’d be asking for death. Right, Scarlett Mellon?”
Scarlett shot her an annoyed look: “We brought bodyguards.”
Qin Yun nodded: “Even with bodyguards, stay cautious—especially at night. Try not to linger outside.”
“Alright, alright, we got it.” Emily called over a waiter, ordered food, then said: “Qin, how long will you stay here? Come with us tomorrow.”
Qin Yun thought for a moment: “Three or four days. If you’re free, sure—tomorrow I’m meeting someone at Bour-Algr. If you want to come, find me at Tana Garden Hotel.”
“Perfect! It’s settled then!”
As she spoke, Emily suddenly nudged Scarlett’s shoulder: “Scar, the real deal’s right here. Want to try the back door?”
Scarlett’s face flushed. Seeing Qin Yun’s puzzled expression, she whispered: “Qin, didn’t you post the lottery link? Could you… leave me a spot? I’ll pay for it.”
Qin Yun was about to refuse, but Emily hurried in: “Qin, Scarlett’s rich—ask for a million dollars, she’ll pay.”
Still, Qin Yun shook his head: “Sorry. Every spot is allocated fairly and publicly. I won’t reserve backdoors—that wouldn’t be fair to others.”
“Besides, outdoor live-streaming isn’t easy. Miss Scarlett… you don’t need to join.” Qin Yun wanted to say: your delicate skin clearly isn’t suited for this—why bother? If you later want to quit, it’ll just cause trouble.
Scarlett looked disappointed but nodded: “Sorry. I was too forward.”
“Tsk tsk, what a shame.” Emily shook her head beside her. “Qin, are you ready for your next live-stream?”
“No!” Qin Yun shook his head. “I haven’t even decided what to do yet. Can’t be too dangerous, can’t be too easy—any suggestions?”
Emily’s interest sparked: “Keep doing wilderness streaming. Go somewhere new—like the Amazon, or Mount Aerbeisi.”
Qin Yun dismissed it outright: “Too unsuitable for ordinary people.”
“Then pick a remote island—no major danger, but plenty of excitement.”
“That’s worth considering.”
Scarlett spoke little, nothing like a normal fan—she only chimed in occasionally, mostly listening to the two of them.
Around eight, the three finished eating and left the barbecue joint.
The town was still brightly lit, the roads still busy with cars.
“Which hotel are you staying at? I’ll drive you.”
“No need.” Emily pointed to two old American Chevrolets parked nearby—where several black-clad men stood, wearing sunglasses despite the late hour.
Qin Yun nodded: “Alright. Emily, Scarlett, see you tomorrow morning.”
“Goodbye!”
Watching the two cars drive off, Qin Yun turned and strolled slowly toward his hotel. This area was Garissa’s CBD, so it was still lively at this hour.
Back at the hotel, Qin Yun finished showering and was about to sleep when he suddenly remembered something and reopened his phone app to search again.
This time, the search yielded results.
His eyes lit up. He clicked immediately—a pre-generated data sheet popped up.
【Hassan Said, male, 27. Height… Weight… Coordinates: 0°30.766′S, 39°41.567′E…】
At the end of all data was a photo: a typical Kenyan young man, muscular build, square face, broad nose—not a kidnapper, more like a simple, hardworking laborer.
All the data was irrelevant—the coordinates were what Qin Yun needed.
“Good, good—it finally showed up.”
Qin Yun was thrilled. The hundred-thousand-dollar reward was indeed worth it.
He’d never expected to actually get the cash reward—he’d only done it to test the waters. To him now, the money was trivial. If he could lure the man out, it’d be worth every penny.
He immediately copied the coordinates, opened a mapping app, pasted them in—and within seconds, a location just seven kilometers away appeared on the map.
“This is…” Qin Yun zoomed the map—the spot lay squarely within the Bour-Algr Reserve, labeled “balambalagypsum,” meaning gypsum mine.
Qin Yun stared at the map, tempted to go investigate right now—but he held himself back.
He’d be going to Bour-Algr tomorrow anyway. He could check it then. It had been days already—no need to rush.
Calming his restless mind, Qin Yun turned on the air conditioner and prepared to sleep.
…
“Seriously, no elevator? So inconvenient.”
At the fourth-floor stairwell, a slender, long-legged figure appeared. She glanced left and right, then locked onto her target.
“414… 414… here it is. Heehee, gonna scare the hell out of him.”
The black-clad figure crouched by the door, pulled a card from her chest, swiped it against the lock—soft *beep*—then pushed the door open and slipped inside.
A wall lamp glowed dimly. The figure closed the door, peered cautiously toward the bed—where a man lay on his side, motionless, breathing evenly.
“Hmph. You refused me? Let’s scare you!”
She unhooked a pouch from her belt and dumped its contents onto the floor—dozens of wriggling creatures scattered everywhere.
Watching this, she imagined the man on the bed waking up screaming—she nearly laughed out loud.
She clamped a hand over her mouth, shoulders shaking, inching slowly toward the bed.
As she drew near, the man on the bed suddenly rolled over—facing her directly. She froze, terrified, dropped low beside the bed, not daring to move.
After ten seconds, she realized—he hadn’t woken up. He’d just turned over.
“Damn it!”
She muttered, slowly lifted her head—and saw a near-naked body, perfectly sculpted, laid bare before her.
She stared, stunned, eyes glued in place.
Five minutes passed. She even considered reaching out to touch.
“Cough… just look. Don’t you dare touch.” A voice suddenly echoed in the room.
The black-clad figure’s blood ran cold.
“Ahh—!” Her scream was cut short as a hand clamped over her mouth.
The noise vanished instantly.
Qin Yun looked at the person in his hand and sighed helplessly: “Miss Scarlett, why on earth are you in my room at this hour?”
