Chapter 318: Pregnant
“Sss… so many people signed up.”
Su Huan looked at Qin Yun’s phone screen; after several days of buzz, the number of registrants in the program had surpassed fifty million.
Qin Yun’s total followers across all online platforms barely exceeded two hundred million, even after removing duplicates—if you removed duplicates, fifteen million would be a generous estimate.
But now, the registration numbers on the program were real—each number one, one person, no duplicates whatsoever. The ratio was so high it was almost unimaginable.
“The lure of one hundred thousand dollars is truly powerful.”
Su Huan sighed; under normal circumstances, she never expected so many sign-ups. After all, Qin Yun hadn’t even revealed what the livestream would entail—no one knew if it might be dangerously extreme.
Most people were just there for the spectacle.
But with a hundred thousand dollars at stake, it was different.
Even if you just tried your luck, what if you won? Regardless of what happened afterward, being selected meant one hundred thousand dollars in hand—whether in China or abroad, that was a massive sum.
As far as she knew, even in the U.S., one hundred thousand dollars equaled over a year’s salary for an average wage earner.
Qin Yun held a tablet, scribbling on it, and hearing Su Huan’s remark, he chuckled: “What can I say? I thought of this method back then. Without the prize incentive, the guy might never have signed up—if he didn’t sign up, I couldn’t lock his location.”
Su Huan rolled her eyes; only these past two days had she learned that the bus hijacking incident now dominating the internet had been resolved by the man right in front of her. No wonder he’d gone all the way to Garissa instead of returning directly from Nairobi.
Though the situation now seemed resolved, anyone could imagine how dangerous it had been.
They were armed bandits. Even with state backing, Qin Yun was still alone—this wasn’t some American superhero movie where Rambo or John McClane were indestructible like cockroaches. If he got shot, he’d bleed, he’d die.
“I hope I never run into something like this again.”
Su Huan could only pray that.
She set down her phone, leaned against Qin Yun’s shoulder, and looked at the tablet: “Mango, Tomato, and Zhejiang TV have all come knocking—what do you say?”
Qin Yun didn’t look up, his stylus still moving: “Which one do you think is best?”
“The pay is similar across all three, but TV stations—you know how they are—they want far more rights than any of the online platforms. Su Huan thought of the demands from each platform and smiled: “Besides, live streaming on TV is highly unlikely—so that alone is enough to rule them out.”
Qin Yun looked at her: “So how did you negotiate?”
“I negotiated broadcast rights with all three TV stations, buying by episode count—like second or third-run syndication. As for live streaming, I think we should just partner directly with Douyin—no need to find another partner.”
Qin Yun thought for a moment, then nodded: “Fine. But since five ordinary people are involved, we must prepare safety measures in advance—so we can respond instantly to any situation.”
“Mm, don’t worry about that—you focus on planning the livestream.” Su Huan took the tablet from his hands, placed it aside, then straddled his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck and cooing sweetly: “Chairman, my parents are coming to Hangzhou in a couple days—should I invite your mom too, for dinner together?”
“Your parents are coming to visit?” Qin Yun blinked, gripping her slender waist. “When?”
“Mid-Autumn Festival. This year it’s combined with National Day—eleven days off—so they want to tour Jiangnan.”
Qin Yun immediately said: “Perfect. I was already deciding whether to go back to Zhoushan or Hebei for the long holiday—now we can just bring your parents and my mom all to Hangzhou.”
He grinned mischievously, pinching her hip: “Someone’s eager to get married, isn’t she?”
Su Huan didn’t deny it. She cupped Qin Yun’s face and kissed him hard, then leaned close to his ear: “Mm, because I think my period is late.”
At that, Qin Yun froze, then realized what she meant—his eyes widened.
“What did you say?”
Su Huan blushed slightly, gently tapping his chest: “My period’s late—what’s the big deal? It’s not even certain yet…”
“You’re healthy, never stay up late, your routine’s perfect—why would your period suddenly delay? Didn’t you test?”
Su Huan blinked her big, doe-like eyes, looking utterly innocent: “Can you even test that soon?”
Qin Yun was speechless—he had experience. Back when he’d tried to get Song Ya pregnant, he’d prepared meticulously. But all that effort had vanished into memory.
“It’s been nearly a month since I left for Africa—if you’re pregnant, a pregnancy test will show it now.”
Saying that, he suddenly got excited, lifting her off the sofa.
“Come on, let’s go to the hospital for an HCG test.”
Watching Qin Yun’s excitement, Su Huan felt uneasy—afraid this might just be false hope.
They arrived at the hospital, registered, queued, got blood drawn, waited for results.
“Husband, if I’m not pregnant, will you be disappointed?” Su Huan could see how much Qin Yun hoped—he made her nervous, torn between hope and fear.
Qin Yun pinched her nose: “Hmph, if you’re not pregnant, you’ll learn just how powerful your husband is—you won’t be able to get out of bed for ten days.”
“Hmph, we’ll see who ends up stuck in bed.”
A nearby auntie stared at them in shock, then moved farther away.
They exchanged a smile, completely unfazed.
“I’ll go check again.”
Qin Yun stood up, walked to the self-service printer, scanned his code, and a prompt appeared: “You have a lab report ready for printing.”
His heart tightened; he grew anxious.
“Zzzzz—!”
As the machine hummed, a lab report slowly emerged.
Su Huan stood up too, but didn’t move closer—she watched from afar.
Watching Qin Yun pick up the paper, turn around, and his face light up with joy, a heavy stone suddenly dropped from her chest.
She hurried over, leaned in to read the report.
【Beta-Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (β-HCG) - 286.5 - Reference Range (0-5.0)】
【Progesterone (P) - 22.3 - Reference Range…】
They looked at each other. Qin Yun swallowed: “These numbers… mean I’m pregnant, right?”
“Should we ask the doctor?”
“Let’s go!”
They were both college graduates—they understood what the numbers meant. But right now, they felt like illiterates, desperate for a professional to confirm it.
Without waiting to be called, they walked straight into the doctor’s office, apologized to the patient inside, and Qin Yun shamelessly laid the report on the doctor’s desk.
“Doctor, please help us understand this.”
The doctor glanced at it, smiled faintly: “Congratulations. Your wife is pregnant.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
Qin Yun beamed, hugging Su Huan tightly: “Hahaha, Xiao Huan, you’re pregnant! You’re pregnant!”
Su Huan was equally thrilled; they jumped and danced right there in the doctor’s office.
After a while, Qin Yun came to his senses. He apologized to the doctor and patient, then pulled Su Huan out.
Back home, Qin Yun suddenly realized.
“Xiao Huan, those few days after I got back—we were so… intense… could that have been bad?”
Su Huan rolled her eyes: “You’re only thinking of this now? Too late. But since today’s results are normal, it probably didn’t affect anything.”
Qin Yun exhaled: “Good, good. From now on, we’ll hold off—avoid any risks.”
“No way!” Su Huan immediately protested. “I did my research—even early pregnancy is fine, as long as we don’t go too…”
“Too what…?”
“Stop it! Go cook—I’m hungry.”
“Got it!”
Qin Yun headed to the kitchen, and before closing the door, he poked his head out.
“By the way—you’re not allowed to cook anymore. Remember that.”
