Chapter 1: Just Got an IV and Time-Traveled

~4 min read 610 words

Wu Yue, in a daze, furrowed her brows. What's going on with this hospital? The noisy commotion—can't they let patients rest properly?

The burning pain in her throat made her a bit irritable; she'd been on IV for two days but showed no improvement—wasn't IV supposed to work fast?

She barely opened her mouth, a hoarse moan like a mosquito: "Water~"

But the surrounding noise instantly drowned her painful moan, eliciting no response.

Clearly there are many people talking nearby, yet no one attends to this patient of hers.

She rolled her eyes, forced them open, looked toward the noise, hoping to summon a nurse to bring her a cup of water.

But the sight before her eyes made her freeze instantly.

What met her eyes was not the clean, comfortable hospital ward she expected, but a dark, cramped little cave; the cave walls bore signs of having been polished, yet still looked uneven.

The place she lay should be the innermost spot of the cave; beneath her was not a soft bed but a thin layer of dry grass, and she was sparsely covered with some dry grass, with nothing else for cover.

No wonder, besides her sore throat, she felt chilly all over.

The cave entrance was just a few steps away, showing how small the cave is.

And the noise she had just heard was coming from outside the cave.

A group of men and women, with only grass vines around their waists and messy hair, were arguing, even kicking their legs in excitement.

Wu Yue silently turned her head away, "damn"—it's actually a vacuum, where's the modesty?

Heaven wouldn't favor me this much, would it?

She only felt her head buzzing instantly, then she tilted and fainted again.

At the moment she fainted, the only thought in her mind was: This must be a dream.

And when she woke up again, she was lying prone on a thin person's back.

She was being carried by a man; although he was thin, his steps were still fairly steady.

The dry pain in her throat had improved a lot; she must have drunk water while unconscious.

"Excuse me. Uh!"

She struggled to open her mouth, wanting to ask where this was, when suddenly she felt her head as if being pricked by millions of needles.

The intense pain made her groan in anguish, wishing she could smash open her own skull.

The man carrying her also seemed to notice something wrong with the woman on his back; he hurriedly turned, put her on the ground, and ran anxiously to the front of the group: "Chief, Yue is having another attack!"

Hearing the man's words, a tall, middle-aged man at the front stopped, his rugged brows furrowed, face full of impatience: "Is there no end to this?"

He cursed and walked toward Wu Yue, who was rolling on the ground.

Seeing Wu Yue writhing in pain on the ground, the burly man frowned at the thin tribesman: "Pick her up and keep moving; we can't delay too long, we need to hurry back to the tribe."

The thin man shrank his neck, nodded repeatedly, then squatted down to hoist the struggling, crying Yue onto his shoulder and caught up with the leading group.

But Yue, slung over his shoulder, gradually grew quiet.

"Ding~ System binding successful!"

A mechanical voice sounded in Wu Yue's mind, but she, tormented by pain into unconsciousness, didn't hear it.
