Chapter 30
Yuan Lang turned his head to look at the two beastfolk beside him: "How are they?"
Middle-aged beastman furrowed his brow and shook his head: "Just like you, we dug them out from the pile of ferocious beast corpses, see if they still have breath."
He said, exhaling a breath, as if trying to suppress the sorrow in his heart: "The wounds aren't as severe as yours, but they still haven't woken up."
Yuan Lang moved his arms, but couldn't muster any strength, his dark, deep eyes looked at the middle-aged beastman: "Uncle, feed them that herbal medicine."
The middle-aged beastman's lips twitched, but he only sighed, got up, and shoved the herbal medicine, split into two halves, into their mouths.
"May the beast god bless us."
In the forest, it gradually grew quiet; aside from a few patrolling beastfolk, the beastfolk all shifted into beast form, leaning on each other as they fell asleep.
Only Yuan Lang, through the dense canopy, gazed at the sky where only a corner was visible, wondering how Teng Qian and Teng Kun were faring.
Thinking of the two deputy commanders who had followed him at the cost of their lives, Yuan Lang's eyes grew dark, the lines on his dirty cheeks becoming ever more stern.
The chirping of birds announced the start of the day; when Wu Yue opened her eyes again, the outside of the cave was already faintly light.
Suddenly, a foul stench spread at her nostrils, causing her face to change dramatically, and she couldn't help but retch.
"Damn it, Tongzi, didn't we agree you'd take night watch? You actually slacked off!" Wu Yue pinched her nose and jumped up, inwardly roaring.
After a moment of confusion, the system flew into a rage: "I've been working hard to keep watch, and you dare to deny the system?"
Wu Yue stomped her feet in anger: "If you weren't slacking, how did something run into my mountain cave to take a dump? I'm about to be smoked to death!"
System: "."
After a strange silence, the system suddenly burst into a shrill laugh, mocking Wu Yue for a hundred years while laughing: "Idiot host, the source of the foul gas is you; lift your arm and sniff—you're now a walking poison bomb."
Wu Yue's body stiffened suddenly; after a moment, she struggled to lift one arm, but before she could bring it near, a waft of foul odor drifted in.
"Ugh~" Damn it, what kind of godly smell is this.
Unable to bear her own foul stench any longer, Wu Yue grabbed a handful of dry grass and sprinted toward the riverbank, leaving a trail of intoxicating odor.
Along the way, she even knocked out a few half-beast warriors with unusually sensitive sense of smell.
Having run all the way to the riverbank in one breath, Wu Yue stood there hesitating, stretching her neck and lifting her legs, simply unwilling to enter the water again.
Seeing the host's cowardly demeanor, the system sneered with disdain: "Host, for the harmony of the Snow Tiger Tribe, please hurry up and clean yourself up."
Wu Yue shuddered: "Nonsense, you think I don't want to wash? I dare not—you forgot the last time those grass fish with shark teeth? That thing is deadly!"
The system was speechless: "Not bathing will also get you killed."
It will take the lives of those beastfolk and half-beasts.
"Rest assured, host, with that strong poisonous aura on you, no fish will dare approach; don't believe me? Try it."
The system urged.
Upon hearing that, Wu Yue pressed her lips; she actually knew that as long as she wasn't injured and bleeding, those grass fish wouldn't arbitrarily attack her.
But this fear does not dissipate with one's will.
She mustered courage and extended a big toe into the river; just then, the group of grass fish that had been leisurely swimming scattered instantly, and a plump fish, swimming slower, actually flipped belly-up.
Wu Yue felt embarrassed—was it fainted or did it just belch?
