Chapter 308: Driving Away Bugs for the Slaves
Wu Yue smiled and said, "Of course I'm here to help everyone drive away bugs."
After saying that, she looked toward Changye: "Please go find a few people to come help."
The surrounding slaves looked at her in disbelief; this little female actually really came to drive away bugs for them, and her attitude toward Changye and them was so good.
And she even smiled at these slaves?
Knowing Wu Yue needed help, the slaves who had gone to dig sweet potatoes last time all rushed over together.
They had no stone pots, so Wu Yue had a few Beastman Warriors dig a few new ones for them: "These stone pots are for you to use; during the rainy season it gets colder, so when you have nothing to do normally you can go pick up some firewood and set it aside."
If it's cold, just light a fire to boil water; drinking some hot water will warm you up a lot.
While the Beastman Warriors were digging the stone pots, Wu Yue began speaking with the slaves from the previous small tribe.
Gradually, besides those small-tribe slaves digging taro, more and more slaves gathered around.
They didn't speak either, just squatted beside Wu Yue, listening to her gentle voice, trying hard to remember every word she said.
Yue, the stone pots are ready.
Teng Qian's voice interrupted Wu Yue's speech; the surrounding slaves all somewhat awkwardly stood up and returned to their grass huts.
What surprised Wu Yue was that a few half-grown youngsters also came over on their own initiative, although they still looked very frightened.
"May I ask, is there anything we need to do?"
Several male youngsters were skin and bone, yet they still asked in a small voice; their eyes held much unease, standing several steps away from Wu Yue, fearing she would despise them.
Wu Yue handed them one of the stone pots containing chili peppers: "Find a wooden stick to crush the herbs inside, then pour water in to soak; fill the water up."
The little slaves nodded obediently, held the stone pot and walked aside to start working.
"These little guys are really diligent."
Wu Yue couldn't help but sigh.
Changye beside her, hearing this, a bitter smile appeared on his numb face: "They are all my children."
Wu Yue looked at the bitter expression on the middle-aged male's face, and she also couldn't help but sigh.
"Following you is better than starving to death in the old tribe."
Wu Yue looked toward the direction of the small tribe in her memory and said.
Changye heard this, was startled, and then the guilt he felt toward his three youngsters finally eased considerably.
"Yeah, if I hadn't brought them and left them in the old tribe, it's uncertain whether they'd still be alive now."
After all, the grass balls they can eat every day as slaves were precious food in the old small tribe.
Wu Yue selected four temporary supervisors from the slaves who had dug taro together before—three males and one female.
Although they can't compare to ordinary Beastfolk, at least they can speak normally with me, and when they see me they don't wobble their legs.
Assign each of them to oversee a portion of the people to get the bug‑driving done.
What she didn't expect was that the slaves' bug‑driving work went much more smoothly than that of the tribe members.
Perhaps because they were accustomed to obedience, when Wu Yue's order came, everyone spontaneously formed four long lines, stepping forward in turn, and the four supervisors sprayed the medicinal liquid onto each person.
During this process, indeed many slaves were found to have parasite worms on their bodies.
