Chapter 612: The Good‑Tempered Grand Shaman
The Huo Teng Tribe Grand Shaman, whose old face ached, turned his gaze away gloomily: "Since you all prefer to stay in remote small tribes, forget about joining our tribe; take the totem pole and leave."
His cold demeanor formed a stark contrast with his just‑now gentle manner.
Wu Yue didn't care at all about his gloom; after performing a proper bow, she stepped aside to wait.
This "assembly" lasted a full half day; aside from the Snow Moon Tribe, all the shamans and beastfolk favored by the Super Tribe tearfully agreed to join.
Whether it was because they suffered a setback in the Snow Moon Tribe or not, the Huo Teng Tribe recruited an unusually large number of beastfolk and shamans this time.
Although it aroused the dissatisfaction of several other Super Tribes, the Huo Teng Tribe, having regained its confidence, didn't care at all.
After all the tribes received the rewards issued by the Super Tribe, this tribal competition finally came to an end.
Facing the icy glances from the Huo Teng Tribe's elders as they left, Wu Yue and the others showed no expression on their faces, but inwardly they heightened their vigilance.
Others' rewards were beast hides, medicinal herbs, or similar items, but the Snow Moon Tribe's two totem poles required infusion by the Huo Teng Grand Shaman, and even one of the totem poles needed them to provide the materials themselves.
The surrounding tribespeople all left in droves, yet not a single person came over to discuss the totem poles and their materials with them.
"Damn, the Huo Teng Tribe is supposed to be a big tribe, yet it's so stingy."
Teng Qian kicked the grass under his feet in anger, his contempt for the Huo Teng Tribe running deep.
Yuan Lang glanced at his little younger brother and said, "You can tell a thing or two from that old medicine shaman; what's strange about that?"
Even Wu Yue couldn't help but nod in agreement at those words.
"Wu Yue."
A familiar, laughter‑tinged voice sounded from behind; they turned to see the healing shaman leading a few of his own shamans toward them.
"The Huo Teng Tribe, whose hearts are narrower than a thread of grass, actually dumped you out here."
The healing shaman laughed heartily, seeming not at all surprised by the situation they faced.
He stopped, turned sideways to look at them, and said, "Our Kuma Tribe's Grand Shaman wants to meet you."
"Kuma Grand Shaman?"
Wu Yue recalled the earlier loud voice mocking the Huo Teng Tribe; glancing over, she saw that the other's attire looked like a shaman's robe made from dyed cloth produced by their own tribe.
"Of course there's no problem, except our tribe's two totem poles…"
A look of worry crossed her pale, delicate little face; the suspicion that the Huo Teng Tribe was up to no good gave the healing shaman and his companions a sudden sense of satisfaction.
He waved his hand and said, "Give me the materials for the totem poles, and I'll send people to find the Huo Teng Tribe folks—I'll make sure not a single one is missing and even have them sent back to your tribe."
Wu Yue's clear, bright eyes lit up instantly; looking at the healing shaman and his companions, her gaze was full of gratitude.
"I've been humming and hawing this whole time just waiting for you to say that."
Perhaps because of the earlier writing incident, even the previously grudge‑bearing poison shaman spoke with them, his bark‑like face even bearing a frightfully friendly smile.
The several Super Tribes weren't far apart; as the group talked, they soon arrived outside the Kuma Grand Shaman's tent.
"The Grand Shaman has a great temper, so you don't need to…"
"Cut it out! That old thing from the Huo Teng Tribe carries no weight with me—go tell him straight: there's no way I'll give you any of the Kuma Tribe's goods!"
The healing shaman's words were cut off by a loud barrage of insults; he looked at Wu Yue and the others staring straight at him, and gave an embarrassed dry chuckle twice.
"Grand Shaman, wait until I finish speaking before you start cursing."
"First release, latest."
