Chapter 7: The System Is Quite Peculiar

~4 min read 613 words

Wu Yue ignored him completely, her gaze fixed firmly on the Snow Tiger Clan chief: "I swear to the Beast God that this beast crystal was obtained solely by my father's hunt; it does not belong to the tribe collectively."

The woman's voice was weak, yet in such silence it was unusually clear.

To dare swear an oath to the Beast God shows that the woman is telling the truth; she has the sole authority to dispose of this beast crystal.

The Snow Tiger Tribe chief looked at the emaciated, weak woman on the ground who seemed about to die and meet the Beast God any moment, and without hesitation agreed: "You may stay, as an ordinary tribe member."

He extended his palm, broad like a fan, and Wu Yue took the beast crystal from her neck and placed it in the Beastfolk's broad palm.

The burly men and tribespeople behind her looked at Wu Yue with complex expressions, and were eventually driven away by the Snow Tiger Tribe's Half-Beast warriors.

The weak Wu Yue was then brought to a spacious cave, its walls smoothed and neat, with a nest of dry grass inside—that would be her sleeping place from now on.

She was brought here by two Pure Human women of the Snow Tiger Tribe.

"We'll bring you breakfast tomorrow."

Having said that, they left her a few pitiful-looking fruits and then departed.

Looking at the cave, far better than the tribe's previous dwelling, Wu Yue finally could not bear her fatigue, closed her eyes, and fell asleep.

In the pitch-black cave, a tiny green light point flew out from Wu Yue's heart, circled her once, then vanished back into her heart.

Moments later, rings of pale green light patterns spread from her heart like waves, enveloping her entire body.

Beneath her disheveled, yellowish hair, her pallid complexion gradually gained a hint of rosiness, her tightly furrowed brows from pain relaxed, and the pale green light at her heart faded completely.

Wu Yue was awakened by the noisy clamor outside the cave; the Snow Tiger Tribe's morning was bustling, with Beastfolk heading out to hunt and women setting out to gather food to ensure the tribe's daily supply.

She struggled to support her body and move to the cave entrance, where unobstructed sunlight streamed in, and she could even see dust motes drifting in the beams.

Her body was wrapped in a layer of dry grass, tied only around the waist.

By then, the dry grass had loosened, leaving only a few strands clinging to her body, barely covering some key areas.

Yesterday's severe headache let her receive the original owner's memories, and she knew the original owner had already died during a fever; as for why she herself had awakened in this body,

Wu Yue said she herself also wanted to know.

Damn it, even getting a cold and an IV could have transmigrated me—could it be some unspeakable dark maneuver?

"Ding~ Host hello, System 438 at your service!"

As Wu Yue was complaining about her bizarre transmigration, a mechanical voice sounded in her mind; so stimulating early in the morning that she couldn't help but break out in gooseflesh.

So.

She twitched the corner of her mouth: "What are you?"

The mechanical voice sounded again: "I am not a thing; I am System 438."

Wu Yue laughed inwardly, struggling to keep a deadpan face: "Well, you're not a thing, you're a damn thirty-eight."

The system fell silent for a moment, always feeling that its host was cursing it, but without evidence.
