Chapter 716: Ordered by the Snow Moon Tribe
Wu Yue and Yuan Lang followed behind the little curly-haired Beastfolk all the way to the tent of the Sea Eel Grand Shaman.
I don't know if it's an illusion, but she always felt that the Beastman Warrior guarding outside the tent looked at her with eyes that weren't very friendly, filled with a deep chill.
She turned her head and exchanged a glance with Yuan Lang, secretly raising her vigilance.
The beast-skin curtain at the tent entrance was lifted; Wu Yue stepped in first, with Yuan Lang following closely behind.
Upon entering the tent, Wu Yue lifted her gaze to the various super-tribe Grand Shamans and chieftains seated at the head, and felt a strong gust of wind rush toward her, the wind saturated with the Beast God's power, entwined with surging killing intent.
The force of this attack was clearly not intending to leave her any chance of survival.
Wu Yue's expression turned cold in an instant, her previously smiling eyes turning icy.
She stood still in place, allowing the attack, wrapped in powerful Beast God power, to strike her.
But the next moment, a situation that astonished everyone occurred.
The formerly fierce Sea Snake chieftain let out a miserable cry, was flung backward, and crashed hard onto the steps before the Sea Snake Grand Shaman.
The tremendous impact made him involuntarily spit out a mouthful of blood with a "puff" sound, his eyes blood-red as he looked at the two unharmed figures at the tent entrance.
"Shaman Yue, you actually dare to fight back!"
Wu Yue's expression cold: "You suddenly ambushed me; not killing you already counts as me showing mercy. Do you still want me to stand there and take a beating? Who gave you the nerve?"
Her voice cold and arrogant, the way she utterly disregarded the Sea Snake chieftain made the other chieftains and Grand Shamans in the tent involuntarily frown.
"Shaman Yue, we summoned you here to have you explain things clearly in front of all the chieftains and shamans."
The Sea Eel Grand Shaman furrowed his brows slightly, glanced disgustedly at the still-lying Sea Snake chieftain, then spoke.
Wu Yue inwardly sneered; these super-tribe Grand Shamans and chieftains had never regarded her group in the slightest.
If she hadn't acted quickly just now, she would likely have been seized by that damned Sea Snake chieftain, and then dealing with her would be entirely up to them.
It seems she was still too polite, giving them face.
She locked eyes with the Sea Eel chieftain, the curve of her lips revealing utter coldness: "The force of that Sea Snake chieftain's attack just now doesn't look like he wanted to talk; it looks like he wanted my life."
Seeing they showed no embarrassment or guilt, Wu Yue inwardly sneered, walked straight to a beast-skin mat, and sat down by herself.
The sturdy Yuan Lang stood beside her, like a loyal and powerful guardian knight.
"Speak, what is it that you Grand Shamans and chieftains summoned me for? I'd also like to hear."
The Grand Shamans and chieftains exchanged glances; the Sea Eel Grand Shaman let out a light sigh, then said: "The beastman warrior that the Shark chieftain brought back to the tribe has spoken, and the Shark chieftain also found several precious talismans on his person."
As he spoke, he tossed the stack of talismans in his hand onto the beast-skin mat before him: "Shaman Yue, take a look—doesn't this look familiar?"
A beastman stepped forward respectfully, picked up the talismans, and held them to Yue's side: "Shaman Yue, please look."
Wu Yue glanced at the several very familiar talismans in the beastman's hand, then snorted coldly: "What, you found these on him and think I gave them to him?"
"Our tribe trades with several super-tribes, and one of the trade items is talismans."
"He might have obtained these talismans through trade elsewhere, and they're being used to frame us."
Having said that, she casually tossed the talismans that the beastman had carefully presented onto the ground: "We no longer use these old talismans."
She turned her head to the Sea Eel Grand Shaman: "Other tribes may not know, but you Sea Eel Grand Shaman should certainly be aware, after all I've never exchanged these old talismans with you."
The Sea Eel Grand Shaman gave a dry cough, faced the gaze of the Grand Shamans and chieftains, and could only nod: "Yes, I have never seen this kind of talisman among those we received from the Snow Moon Tribe."
"But Shaman Yue, this doesn't prove you have nothing to do with it, after all this kind of talisman originally spread from your Snow Moon Tribe."
The Sea Snake Grand Shaman's gloomy eyes were full of malice.
"Bring over the captured Shark tribesman; since he claims these things were done at our behest, shouldn't I also be qualified to hear how he says it?"
Seeing she showed no trace of guilt, several Grand Shamans and chieftains in the tent couldn't help but frown.
"Could it really be that this matter has nothing to do with the Snow Moon Tribe?"
The Shark Grand Shaman waved his hand; the Shark chieftain rose and personally went out to bring in the still-bound beastman.
Wu Yue glanced at the beastman, then turned to the assembled Grand Shamans and chieftains: "Do you all believe in the Beast God?"
As her words fell, everyone present, including the three Grand Shamans, involuntarily sucked in a cold breath, looking at her as if she were a dangerous element.
"Shaman Yue, do not offend the Beast God, nor doubt our loyalty to the Beast God; we are forever his children."
Wu Yue gave a light laugh, then looked again at the beastman warrior tightly gripped by the Shark chieftain.
"If that's the case, let him swear to the Beast God that it was our Snow Moon Tribe that, together with him, captured the beastmen."
As her words fell, the beastman who had been hanging his head in silence instantly lifted his head, glaring at her with a fierce gaze.
Only then did Wu Yue notice that something had been branded onto the beastman's face, a very ugly pattern.
The Shark chieftain silently looked toward the Shark Grand Shaman at the head.
After a few Grand Shamans exchanged glances, they nodded in agreement with Yue's proposal.
"Very well, since Shaman Yue insists he swear, then you will listen to Shaman Yue."
Wu Yue rose and approached the beastman: "Swear, to the Beast God."
The beastman's eyes were fierce, yet deep within lay a hint of panic.
He knew that everything he had said before was false, all to push this matter onto this small inland tribe.
But if he swore to the Beast God, his words would surely be seen through.
The air inside the tent was extremely still, only the beastman's gradually heavy breathing rising and falling.
The Shark chieftain glared for a long time without seeing him swear, his eyes fierce: "Speak!"
The beastman clenched his teeth, the muscles on both cheeks tensed, his eyes blood-red.
"I swear to the Beast God that it was our Snow Moon Tribe that captured the beastmen warriors from all tribes, and those talismans are also from our Snow Moon Tribe..."
"Boom!!!"
Before he could finish, accompanied by a deafening boom, a bolt of lightning blasted the beast-skin tent, burying everyone inside.
