Chapter 160: Nigma's Commandos Storm the Prison, the Star of Calamity Captures the Riddler a Second Time
Ma Ma Zhaodi summoned the system record board, spent one dollar of asset points, and pulled up both the location pointed out by the Riddler just now and the Gotham City map.
"The Monarch Comedy Theater? This is the place the Joker attacked at dawn; I was inside back then."
【Ding—The system launches a new product "DS Intelligent Analysis". Would you like to try it?】
"Ha, the system is getting good too, even riding the DS hype."
【Analysis complete. Attack locations: "Monarch Comedy Theater, Joke Shop, Comedy Film, Stand-up Comedy, Joke Factory." Analysis complete.】
【Analysis result: Hidden composition—The Clown Without a Nose.】
Ma Ma Zhaodi watched as the system connected the locations on the Gotham map where the Joker had attacked, finally constructing a simple clown pattern—except it lacked the red nose.
"Nice, that's very Joker."
Why couldn't the Gotham Police Department see this pattern? The reason was, of course, very simple, just like the question the Riddler had posed—Why does the end of the world never come?
"Because the Earth is round," Ma Ma Zhaodi retorted. "Who would use the logic of a brain teaser to solve this kind of case?"
But the Joker would use the logic of a brain teaser to commit these crimes.
Although the police radio no longer carried news of the Joker continuing his attacks, Ma Ma Zhaodi was certain the Joker had not yet finished what he intended to do. He directed his gaze to the part of the map that should have been the nose; there seemed to be a skyscraper, fully over a hundred stories tall.
"Damn it, which floor am I supposed to look on..."
Just then, a news report played again on the big screen.
"Breaking news: Ten minutes ago, a gang of thugs used explosives to blast open the cells of the Gotham Police Department. Police killed three of them, but the rest escaped. The criminal Riddler is missing. Citizens, please be aware of your safety..."
Ma Ma Zhaodi: "..."
Incredible, he thought. The code the Riddler gave was definitely not a termination code, but a signal to execute Plan B—the code to execute the prison break plan.
The Gotham Police Department was quite miserable; Ma Ma Zhaodi could almost imagine the public opinion pressure they were about to face. When Gotham citizens learned the Riddler had executed two prison breaks in a single day and actually got away, they would probably drown the police station with spit.
【Ding】
【You have a new gig available. Please check.】
【Nigma's Commandos Storm the Prison, the Star of Calamity Captures the Riddler a Second Time】
Mission Introduction: The sage once said, "While parents are alive, do not travel far; if you must travel, have a destination." This means that when your parents are alive, naughty children should not run too far away; even if they do, there is always a way to catch them and bring them back. And for the scheming Riddler, encountering the Star of Calamity for a second time, which always appears outside the plan, was indeed enough to make him subconsciously curse out a "Motherf***er".
Note: As an officer currently on leave, you will still do your utmost to capture the Riddler, who has just broken out of prison, and return him to jail.
Interestingly, schemers will sooner or later learn a second lesson: Accidents and tomorrow are alike; they cannot be avoided.
Status: Pending completion.
Reward: Special Skill "Fake Death".】
"Oh my, a rare item."
Ma Ma Zhaodi looked at the gig reward and couldn't help but let out a soft snort.
Gotham's night was colorful. On a busy street in the Burnley District, a red taxi drove toward the direction of the skyscrapers.
"A man went to a toy store and said he wanted to buy a new boomerang. Then he asked the clerk: 'How should I throw away that old boomerang?'"
The taxi driver hadn't realized it at first; he froze for two seconds before realizing the person in the back seat had suddenly told a joke.
So, to liven up the atmosphere, he immediately burst out laughing.
"Hahaha—" He turned back while laughing and chimed in: "Buddy, that was a really funny joke!"
However, the passenger in the back seat did not seem to agree with his opinion.
The car drove down the street, and a streetlamp happened to be right in front on the roadside. White light shone through the window into the car, illuminating the pale figure in the back seat with his lips pursed.
It also illuminated the muzzle of the revolver in his hand, flashing with reflection.
"No, that's not funny."
Bang!
The gunshot rang out. The front windshield of the red taxi instantly shattered into pieces. A streak of blood sprayed from the broken hole, fine cracks like a spiderweb spread everywhere, obscuring the specific situation inside the car.
Screech—
The unmanned taxi immediately lost control. Its tires scraped against the ground with a piercing sound as it rushed toward the sidewalk.
"Ah—!"
"Get out of the way!"
Screams and warning shouts rang out together. Panicked pedestrians turned and ran to avoid being knocked flying by the out-of-control car.
Boom—Crash!
A car coming from another intersection suffered collateral damage, hit by the taxi and stopped dead in its tracks. The taxi itself was even more terrifying; its side was grazed while moving at high speed, causing the entire body to lose balance completely. It even spun and flew directly into the air, finally crashing headfirst into the fountain in the square.
Pedestrians screamed in panic and fled in all directions from the square. A few unlucky souls were knocked down by the taxi's body, hitting the ground with their heads bleeding.
The crowd gathered at a distance from this wildly out-of-control taxi to see what had happened. A moment later, a green-haired man in a black tuxedo climbed out of the twisted, deformed car and the scattered fountain debris.
"Ugh." He covered his left face; a stinging pain came from between his eyebrows. He raised his hand to look; his purple glove was already stained dark red with fresh blood.
I thought this would be funny, he thought. After so much time, killing so many people, and having so many people want him dead, to have his neck snapped on the back seat of a car for no reason on a beautiful night.
This should have been ridiculous, enough to make him smile even in the grave.
But at this moment, the Joker walked out of the fountain, his face dejected.
No, it's still not funny.
He turned his head and stumbled toward the inside of the building.
Just after he entered the building, a figure in a dark green suit arrived downstairs and strolled into the building.
He whistled, his expression extremely relaxed, muttering to himself.
"Someone wanted to enter a shop, but the guard wouldn't let him in, so he peeked at the conversation between others and the guard to find out the password."
"The guard said 'Twelve', the guest said 'Six'."
"The guard said 'Six', the guest said 'Three'."
"He was confident he understood and was about to enter. At this moment, the guard said 'Ten', and he answered 'Five'."
"He was kicked out."
Ding—
The building's elevator chimed, announcing the arrival at the seventy-eighth floor.
"He thought this was a math problem, but it is a riddle—the question asks for the number of letters in the numbers—fools are always like this, seeing one leaf and believing they know the whole autumn."
With the joke told, the riddler arrived before the building's main door; he gently reached out and pushed it open: "Knocking on the door—thump, thump."
And a figure waited there: "Opening the door—who is it?"
At this moment, downstairs in the building, a figure wearing a suit and jeans also stepped into the elevator.
"Entering the door—haha, the riddler's elevator stopped at the seventy-eighth floor! I don't need to solve the riddle!"
