Chapter 193: Boss, the Patrol Squad Was Kidnapped by Batman
"Sheriff Gordon of the Gotham City Police Department officially entered the war zone today to negotiate with those two madmen—seeing him return unscathed, I am truly glad; he is a true warrior."
"Bill, half a month has already passed, and the Gotham City Police Department hasn't even finished rebuilding. I admit they are trying very hard, but their efforts are as useless as the Batman they support—those two guys both said, 'Hand over the Bat, end the war,' yet he completely refused."
"Damn, those are two criminals! Frank, can you really believe what criminals say?"
"Batman isn't legal either, and then there's that Kite Man who recently appeared—oh my god, you're all practically worshipping them as heroes."
"Frank, they saved over a hundred people these past few days. If you could save that many people too, I would see you as a hero as well."
"Then what about the war? The Joker and the Riddler are evenly matched; someone has to break the stalemate!"
The Riddler watched the two news anchors engage in a futile verbal dispute on the screen, felt a bit bored, and casually turned off the television.
At that moment, the communicator in his pocket began to ring.
"Boss, the Perverted Biker is back."
Two minutes later, in the main hall where the meeting was being held.
The Riddler asked Ma Ma Zhaodi in the center of the hall, "Seeing you return makes me happy, but where is Kite Man?"
"Kite Man ran away."
Seeing Ma Ma Zhaodi make his report with such self-righteousness, all the supercriminals present wore expressions of contempt.
That guy was just a minor character with no special abilities other than flying with a kite; why could you state such a shameful result so naturally?
Has Gotham City really degenerated to the point where such trash supercriminals are appearing?
The Riddler said nothing; after a moment of silence, he finally spoke: "Sol."
"I am here."
"I am curious," he said. "I am curious, did Kite Man shoot at you?"
"No, he probably didn't bring a gun."
"He never landed?"
"Not exactly; he was standing on the ground at the time, accompanied by a woman and a child."
"Was he too fast for you to shoot?"
"No, he took off with enough time for me to hit him."
"You had no teammates nearby?"
"There was a patrol squad with rifles."
The Riddler's expression suddenly turned gloomy and irritable; he asked, word by word, "Then, how, the f***, did you let him get away?"
"Batman showed up."
The moment the words left his mouth, the meaning in everyone's gaze changed instantly; they all thought, that makes perfect sense.
"Why didn't you say so earlier?"
"You didn't ask."
The Riddler took a deep breath, suppressing the urge to kill.
Can't kill, can't kill; at least I can't act rashly, I need a reason.
Otherwise, this loose alliance would become even more of a disorganized mess.
"Since you encountered that Bat, escaping counts as a success, but what about the patrol squad?"
"How do you think I escaped?"
"."
The Riddler's hand involuntarily reached for his waist; he now very much wanted to shoot and kill this useless idiot who could do nothing right and only cause trouble.
But a moment later, he gripped his cane again.
"Forget it."
He silently comforted himself: Why bother? No need to get angry.
He finally realized one thing: there was really no need to spend much time and energy on a character like the Perverted Biker; even if he was so good at ruining things, he was just an idiot with no intelligence.
Why should I be angry with him? The money is already spent; just use him as cannon fodder.
"Forget it," he said to Ma Ma Zhaodi. "Since Batman helped Kite Man, they have probably formed an alliance. Kite Man is unlikely to join us again, and we have no need to look for him; after all, he is just a minor character."
"Apart from him, all the notable villains in Gotham City have already chosen sides, either ours or the Joker's—speaking of which, Slade, have those few who refused to choose sides been dealt with?"
"Everyone except Catwoman has been dealt with."
A man stepped forward to respond to the Riddler; he wore a mask that was half black and half orange on his face, and a tactical armor suit on his body. He was armed with an automatic rifle, a pistol, and a tactical belt, with two long blades on his back and a telescopic staff at his waist; saying he was armed to the teeth was no exaggeration.
Slade Joseph Wilson, the world's most deadly mercenary, top assassin, super-soldier who works for money, top tactical master, martial arts master, and master of all weapons.
Originally a soldier for the US military, he nearly died during a mission; the military then performed special modifications on him, giving him extraordinary speed, strength, endurance, reaction ability, and self-healing ability. This saved his life and made Wilson, who was already a top soldier, an even more deadly existence—the super-villain known as Deathstroke.
"Is Catwoman hard to deal with?"
"She is very good at escaping, and she has Batman's protection. To kill her, you have to pay extra."
"How much extra?"
"Five times."
"Forget it," the Riddler shook his head. "She's just a cat; she won't affect the big picture. She isn't worth that price. After we deal with Batman, we will deal with her."
Having said this, he looked at Ma Ma Zhaodi again.
"Sol, you and Deathstroke will go together tomorrow to execute a mission."
Ma Ma Zhaodi looked at the Riddler, thinking to himself how he had the courage to assign him and Deathstroke to a mission again after already witnessing his ability to ruin things.
"Gordon did not agree to my request, nor did he agree to the Joker's request. However, fortunately, through a corrupt cop in the police department, I learned a piece of news: starting tomorrow, Batman will patrol and guard the war zone, so we can lock down his position for tomorrow."
"You two go to the West District, set up positions for an ambush, and snipe that annoying Bat from a distance. If you can succeed, that's best; if not, just find a few of the Joker's henchmen in the West District, anyone will do—Mr. Freeze, Deadshot, the Penguin, or Solomon Grundy, who was easily kidnapped by the Joker."
"Take them out."
Deathstroke nodded, said not a word, turned around, and left.
Ma Ma Zhaodi nodded as well; with himself and Deathstroke joining forces, they could achieve an effect where one plus one was less than one, and the outcome of this assassination was already sealed.
It was absolutely impossible to succeed.
Meanwhile, in the Upper West District.
Sitting behind the desk, the Joker picked up the communicator and answered the call.
"Joker, the Riddler has made a move."
"Hmm?"
"He sent Deathstroke Slade to intercept and kill Batman in the West District tomorrow."
"Hmm."
The Joker casually picked up a pen and wrote the address spoken through the communicator onto a piece of paper.
"Oswald!" He folded the paper and shouted loudly toward the door.
"Call Deadshot to see me."
