Chapter 198: Boss, Slade Was Also Captured by Batman
The fourth day.
Ma Ma Zhaodi held the shield, huddled in a corner, AFK.
"Slade, why can't Batman catch Deadshot?"
Deathstroke watched the two fighting through his sniper scope and answered calmly, "Because he's too green."
"His body is strong, but his training is still insufficient; his gear is excellent, but his tactical thinking hasn't yet become instinct in the first moment; his movement relies too much on the grapple gun, and his opponent is more skilled at climbing and vaulting in complex terrain."
"Floyd and I are both mercenaries; we've both spent an extremely long time training for long-distance sprints and short-distance dashes; formulating tactics and observing the environment is almost subconscious; we've also trained how to move quickly in complex terrain and how to shake off opponents."
"Oh, oh, I see, I understand completely now."
Deathstroke couldn't help but turn his head to glance at Ma Ma Zhaodi's clear yet foolish eyes, then shook his head.
"Killing an opponent and capturing an opponent are two different concepts; defeating a skilled fighter who acts like a hothead and defeating a skilled fighter who knows how to maneuver and retreat are also two different concepts; the latter often requires strength far exceeding the opponent's, and Batman isn't strong enough to reach that level yet."
Boom!
The deafening roar of an explosion came from afar; Ma Ma Zhaodi couldn't help but poke his head out to take a look. He saw a burst of fire on the fifth floor of a building, then raised his hand to check the time on his watch—he had given Deadshot a "I Don't Kill" skill buff yesterday afternoon, and the time hadn't arrived yet; even if someone was accidentally injured by this explosion, it wouldn't be fatal—though he knew there probably wouldn't be anyone in that building.
"As I said, Floyd has had too much time to set up his home ground, while Batman lacks experience." Deathstroke immediately holstered his gun: "Let's go check the situation over there."
Ma Ma Zhaodi immediately shouldered the shield and followed.
After the explosion, a green figure rode the wind to the top of that building—Chuck had heard the explosion from afar and seen the fire; he rushed to the scene immediately.
"I hope there aren't many people inside the building."
The green kite drifted down, and Chuck flew in through the breach.
"Let me see if this place is empty."
Seeing that this place seemed to have no one, Chuck sighed in relief and used his jet device to fly to the upper floor.
"This floor is empty too."
A moment later, Chuck finally confirmed that this was an empty building.
"Deathstroke and Floyd seem to have been controlling the damage the fight causes to civilians since the day before yesterday, fighting in a no-man's-land," he thought. Why is that?
"Floyd, you don't need to work for the Joker."
"Sorry, he paid."
On the tenth floor above Chuck's head, Batman was throwing punches at Deadshot. Deadshot blocked with dual pistols, used the momentum to retreat, and jumped straight out the window.
Batman caught up in a few steps, leaped into the air, covered his face with his cape, and used the cape to block two streams of bullets Deadshot fired at his face mid-air. When the cape was drawn back, Deadshot's figure was lost from sight once again.
While the two were fighting, they also saw that green figure in the sky.
"Kite Man?"
Ma Ma Zhaodi and Deathstroke, who were rushing to the battlefield, also spotted that figure. Ma Ma Zhaodi felt somewhat relieved: "He's probably here to save people; he was the first to arrive at the scene yesterday and the day before yesterday too."
"He's not the mission target," Deathstroke said. "No need to worry about him. If he attacks, or if he attacks other civilians, Batman will start attacking us."
"Does Floyd think the same?"
"I don't know. Maybe because Floyd knows Kite Man; I heard the two have some connection—Batman chased him to another district with almost no people, which is good; we don't have to worry about traps."
"Chased?"
"Chased."
After Chuck finished searching the rooms in that building affected by the incident, he flew straight out of the scene. Since becoming Kite Man that day, he had become very busy. Batman found him and hoped to reach a cooperation with him: Batman would provide intelligence and offer him protection, while he would rescue people within the war zone.
At this moment, the flight suit he was wearing had been remade by Batman for him, providing bulletproof and impact-resistant protection, along with a tactical belt convenient for carrying candy and a communicator to contact Batman.
Batman had originally proposed upgrading his backpack for him, but he refused. He wanted to upgrade and replace his backpack himself; this was his persistence as an aerodynamicist.
Although the armor had few functions, it was enough for Chuck. For him, who often flew in the sky, the greatest threat was bullets, and the bulletproof performance of this armor was very good. In these few days, wearing the armor, he had saved about several hundred people—men and women, children and the elderly. The citizens' recognition of this hero with little combat power was growing higher and higher.
"The battle situation looks a bit intense..."
He flew through the sky and saw Batman, Deadshot, and Deathstroke locked in a brawl; it seemed all three were somewhat exhausted after four days of high-intensity fighting.
Bang!
Batman delivered a heavy punch to Deathstroke, knocking him backward; blood flowed from the gaps in the mask.
Thud!
Deadshot kicked Batman on the unprotected chin, tearing off a patch of flesh and blood.
Pow!
Batman immediately retaliated with an elbow, striking him so hard that blood gushed from his mouth and nose, soaking the white mask red.
The three fought with punches landing squarely on flesh. Batman, who had gradually become familiar with the two opponents' attacks, swung both fists, gradually gaining the upper hand, and found an opportunity to knock out the two men, who were already covered in blood.
Dusk.
"Boss, the perverted Bat-Biker is back."
Hearing that familiar reporting voice, the Riddler waved his hand, indicating he understood.
Two minutes later, in the main hall where meetings were held.
The Riddler looked at Ma Ma Zhaodi standing in the center of the hall. He appeared to have taken no injuries; aside from some dust on his black robe, there was no blood and no extra bullet holes.
The day before yesterday, there were at least a few bullet holes on the robe; now all the bullets went into the shield.
"I'm glad to see you're back, but where is Slade?"
"Batman captured him."
Seeing Ma Ma Zhaodi make the report with such righteous confidence, all the super-villains present felt this scene was strangely familiar.
The Riddler asked, "Thawne."
"I'm here."
"I'm curious," he said. "Batman defeated Deathstroke, so what about little Floyd?"
"He was taken away by Batman too."
"The three of you couldn't beat one Batman?"
"Not exactly; it's that the two of them lost."
"What do you mean 'the two of them'?"
"Because I didn't fight."
"Then, while those three were battling, what were you doing?"
"Why do you think I managed to withdraw without a scratch?"
The Riddle Man took deep breaths, silently chanting in his heart, "Can't kill, can't kill"; he had held back last time, and he couldn't break his resolve this time.
"Aren't you teammates?"
"Yes, which is why if he got captured, only I could return to report the news."
