Chapter 322: Denton Black

PS: Sorry.

Although the mood for setting up the stall was spoiled by the Flash, business must still be done.

Ma Ma Zhaodi pushed the cart forward, browsing the morning news on his phone along the way.

"This afternoon, inside the Steg Industrial Building, the award ceremony for Steg's Citywide Best Contribution Award is about to commence."

"This big boss of Steg Industries, a super-wealthy billionaire, has actually made huge contributions to humanity as a genius researcher; just recently, Mr. Steg achieved a breakthrough in research on cell cloning and organ transplantation."

"It can be expected that this research will bring new hope to all patients worldwide with necrotic or diseased organs who cannot receive transplants: using their own cells as a foundation to replicate large quantities of undifferentiated stem cells, then cultivating new, healthy organs and transplanting them back into their bodies; this will simultaneously solve two major problems with organs: insufficient compatibility due to rejection reactions, and the shortage of healthy organs."

"According to Mr. Steg, the current cost of this method is relatively high, but the potential is great, with hopes of becoming a universal solution for permanent injuries such as congenital disabilities and organ damage."

Seeing this, Ma Ma Zhaodi felt a bit interested, so he casually clicked the link to the Steg Medical Department's official website attached to the report, only to be scared into immediately backing out by that string of expensive numbers.

"You call this 'relatively high'?" he couldn't help but complain: "An ordinary person working for ten years might not even be able to repay this medical bill."

At this moment, San San Bengzi suddenly spoke up.

"Old Ma, one second ago, the nanobots detected abnormal vital signs in Barry Allen's body."

"Hmm?"

Ma Ma Zhaodi frowned: "What happened to Barry?"

"In the past few seconds, some of his body data suddenly spiked, and it spiked very abruptly; moreover, he seems to be experiencing physical weakness."

"That's nothing abnormal." Ma Ma Zhaodi instantly understood what was happening: "I've seen this episode; his metabolism is too fast, causing excessive nutrient consumption, but what he eats is no different from a normal person's, leading to a nutrient deficit—in short—"

"He's not getting enough sugar?" San San Bengzi abruptly interrupted.

"I think this planet's internet culture is too advanced for a Cybertronian; surf the waves a bit less—I was originally going to say he probably didn't eat the chocolate I gave him."

"Then he's not getting enough sugar."

"Forget it, this isn't important; anyway, once you have experience with this kind of thing, it's easily solved; just leave it to STAR Labs."

"Alright, besides Barry's situation, there's another matter."

"Speak."

"Your friend Denton is in trouble recently—look to your right!"

"Hmm?"

Ma Ma Zhaodi turned his head to the right in confusion and saw a black van parked by the roadside across the street; a man wearing a hooded jacket and all black walked straight into a gun shop.

Ma Ma Zhaodi thought he was probably not going in to buy guns.

Since the glass at the gun shop entrance was covered with reflective film, Ma Ma Zhaodi couldn't see inside clearly; he could only see the sign at the shop entrance flip from "Open" to "Temporarily Closed."

This clearly meant something was up.

"San San Bengzi, connect to the camera inside the gun shop."

As soon as he finished speaking, San San Bengzi's projection appeared on his phone.

"Shut up! No screaming! Bring out the guns!"

"Hmm?"

The hooded figure at that moment drew a gun from his waist and threatened the owner—this part was relatively normal, since Ma Ma Zhaodi could guess he was there to rob, but he didn't expect the man wasn't there to steal money.

"I suddenly feel like this place isn't any better than Gotham," he complained: "Think carefully, who in their right mind robs guns instead of money? This is obviously a plan for something big." "I think you'd better stop him."

"I know," Ma Ma Zhaodi thought for a moment: "But right now he's still pointing a gun at the shop owner; it's best to deal with him after he finishes robbing and leaves the shop, using the old method."

"You want his car to malfunction?"

"Yes, that move worked on Clyde back then, with good results."

"I suggest you really shouldn't do that; actually, it's best to make sure he can't fire the gun."

"Why?"

"Because this is your old client, Denton Black."

"Damn! Why didn't you say so earlier!"

Ma Ma Zhaodi was shocked, immediately grabbed a bag of pastries, and sprinted into the shop.

At that moment, Denton was still directing the owner to open the warehouse door.

"Get twenty handguns, fifteen rifles, fifty magazines each, and pour in all the loose bullets; pack everything into these bags, no more than twenty kilograms per bag, hurry up!"

"Oh my god..." the owner, terrified, was pushed directly into the warehouse by him; with trembling hands, he stuffed bullets into his pockets: "All this stuff added together, you simply can't carry it away; these are iron bullets and guns, not cardboard."

Apparently provoked by the owner's non-stop chatter, Denton's eyes were filled with red bloodshot veins; he pointed the handgun at the owner: "I'm not in a good mood right now; if you understand human speech, please speed up your movements."

However, the owner, seeing the dark muzzle pointed at his forehead, made his movements even more distorted.

Denton gritted his teeth, glanced at his watch, and finally apologized to the owner: "I'm sorry, but the police are about to arrive—you shouldn't have secretly called the police."

The gun shop owner's originally trembling hand paused for a moment; at that moment, he knew his intention to stall had been exposed.

He turned around, raised his hand, and shot the surveillance camera in the shop, then pointed the muzzle at the owner again.

"Sorry, is anyone here?"

Just as Denton was about to pull the trigger, the sound of people at the shop entrance caught his attention; he cursed inwardly that things were bad, and with a backhand swing of the gun stock, he knocked the owner unconscious.

Should we take him out together? He calculated in his mind, and finally tiptoed out of the warehouse.

"Is anyone there?"

The familiar voice made his heart skip a beat; Denton hesitated for a few seconds, then directly reached up to remove his hood, tucked the gun into his waist, and covered it with his jacket.

"Ahem... hello, what guns would you like to buy—Old Ma? How is it you?"

Ma Ma Zhaodi, holding a bag of pastries, saw Denton walk straight out with no bloodstains on his clothes, and finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Good thing I stopped him."

He reached out and handed the bag of pastries directly to Denton: "Someone ordered a portion of pastries from this gun shop; I delivered them and found it closed, with no one inside."

"Oh, that's our owner," Denton replied calmly: "He just stepped out for something."

"Alright, then I'll give the pastries to you—by the way, haven't you been sleeping much lately? Your eyes are so red?"

"Me."

Thinking of the past few days' experiences, Dan Dun was momentarily at a loss for words.
