Chapter 47: I Can Learn

~7 min read 1,251 words

Hearing the two's conversation, Ma Ma Zhaodi immediately felt deep respect.

He had long heard that the Falcone family was full of ruthless characters; only today did he learn that reputation falls short of reality. To deal with Two-Face first, then Batman—such bold words, he hadn't dared to speak even in his dreams, only daring to mutter a few insults about Batman in his heart.

"Idiot."

Just then, a cold mocking voice came from the side.

Ma Ma Zhaodi subconsciously nodded. Yes, yes, this sharp critique was too brilliant.

Wait, why does this voice sound so familiar?

"Who the hell are you calling an idiot? Want to fight?"

The family member whose proposal had just been rejected by his companion was already extremely annoyed; hearing someone else's sharp critique now, a burst of anger instantly rose from the bottom of his heart. He widened his eyes, twisted his head to look to the side, wanting to find out who was jumping in to speak up while he was already annoyed, while Ma Ma Zhaodi spotted the mocking burly man's figure a step before him.

Holy crap, Clinton Banner!

The damn bird who sat on a bus for half a year and then chased him and Drake to jerk off! Did he come to join the Falcone gang?!

Clinton also seemed to recognize Ma Ma Zhaodi, raising his head toward him as a greeting.

When the man saw Clinton and the Beretta at his waist, his angry voice suddenly quieted down. If Ma Ma Zhaodi guessed correctly, Clinton might have already made a bit of a name for himself within the Falcone family thanks to his marksmanship.

Of course, it might also be that he blew the heads off a few gang members who dared to provoke him.

"Stop arguing," the one who had first said he was asking for death spoke up to ease the tense atmosphere: "Don't talk about family matters here unless it's necessary. If you have that kind of free time, you might as well consider how to spend the upcoming Thanksgiving."

"How can one spend Thanksgiving? I don't even have a wife."

The topic gradually went off track. Clinton let out a cold sneer, turned his head, and walked away directly. Ma Ma Zhaodi also lost the mood to stay any longer; reminded by the two's interruption, he finally remembered he still had a task unfinished.

"Blocking is not as good as channeling."

Status: Pending (0/1)

Reward: Advanced Culinary Mastery."

Blowing up his house with a bomb was somewhat against one's conscience, and the risk was huge, plus the bounty obtained wouldn't count toward asset points; but considering the Falcone bounty had been posted for a while, it could at any time lead to a few hooligans helping Two-Face complete his origin story, so Ma Ma Zhaodi had no choice but to undertake this task.

Moreover, the twenty million hidden by Falcone in the factory was money he had burned; letting Harvey Dent take the blame made his conscience feel slightly uneasy.

So he walked toward Clinton.

"Hey, Clinton." He greeted: "Long time no see."

Clinton turned his head. He still wore a gloomy face, no different from the expression on the bus that day, or the night he helped Ma Ma Zhaodi chase away the robbers. Strangely, a few scratch marks had appeared on his bald head; he didn't know if they were from scratching someone while seeking revenge.

"Coward, what do you want with me?"

As soon as he spoke, Ma Ma Zhaodi found it hard to keep a straight face. He should have been angry, but seeing his fierce expression paired with a smooth, bald, claw-marked round head, he suddenly felt like laughing.

"I'm not called 'Coward.' My name is Ma Ma Zhaodi, thank you."

"No difference. Do you need something?"

"Yes, yes, a little something—do you know the Irish Mob?"

——

"That day I was responsible for driving people away from the scene. I will write it all down, if you need it."

The thin man with a mustache and shifty eyes was "Smooth" Jimmy.

"The package I delivered to that woman, Harvey Dent's wife, Lady Dent, you know. I will write it all down, if you need it."

The man with a righteous face was "Hypocrite" Kevin.

"I followed Dent to his home, yes, I did it, followed him until he got home. If you need it, I will write it all down."

The balding fat man with glasses always liked to say one thing twice; he was "Duet" Willie.

"I pressed that damn remote button. And I will write it all down, if you need it."

The man with thick eyebrows, black hair, and a big nose was "Boy" Tang Ni.

"I bought the materials and made the bomb, yes, I did this job—I will write it all down, buddy, you just want me to say this, right?"

The last one, a man with big ears and a long face, was "Weasel" Mickey.

Five people, five voices, five perfectly matching confessions rang out one after another in the room, while Ma Ma Zhaodi, hiding nearby and "listening at the wall," couldn't help but zone out.

"This guy is actually named Mickey, and even his nickname is 'Weasel'? Is that really okay? Won't Disney's legal department have any objections?"

His mind couldn't help but recall a certain red fumo from a certain game.

At this moment, the conversation in the room continued.

"No problems left, Mickey?"

"No problems. I've memorized the lines very well. If anything goes wrong later, just say it like this."

"Sigh—finally can rest. These past few days have been exhausting."

"Exhausting my ass. You didn't do anything from start to finish—except going out to practice hitting on married women and scamming ordinary girls."

"It was all for the plan. What could I do? You went to scout outside Harvey Dent's house every day until midnight before returning; I didn't say anything either."

"What the hell are you talking about? I just sat outside Harvey's house for a few hours every day watching when he came home; it was damn boring—why don't you swap with me?"

"Do you have my gentlemanly face?"

"You mean 'pseudo'-gentleman, right?"

"Why not look at our Mickey? Who swapped with him?"

"Can you make bombs? Then you go! Mickey must be sick of doing such dangerous work; someone replacing him would probably be more than happy."

"I can learn."

"Fuck you. Last time you said you'd replace Jimmy to drive the getaway car, you said those exact words, and that time the rest of us ended up in jail for a full six months."

Ma Ma Zhaodi desperately held back the corners of his mouth; these four birds were too humorous, and he could barely suppress his urge to laugh.

He put away the laptop in his hand, recorded the locations of these people, and left on foot—the Irish Mob's usual hideout was in the East District, so Ma Ma Zhaodi simply walked back and forth. If not for his two vehicles being too conspicuous, driving or coming in a wheelchair would have been much more convenient.

As for how he managed the eavesdropping...

"Suit—laptop, one lighter-shaped eavesdropping/tracker."

Price: 4000 US dollars

Note: Curious why it's so expensive? Buy the hacker skill, and you'll know.

Note 2: Even in a world without CTOS, its built-in hardware and software configuration can become an excellent weapon in the hands of an expert.
