Chapter 1244: Come, Have a Cigarette

Before work ended, Zhao Desan took the opportunity to smoke, opened the cigarettes Xia Jian put in his drawer, took a pack, stood up, and called Xia Jian: "Section Chief Xia, let's go out and have a cigarette."

"Okay." Xia Jian had nothing to do all afternoon and was a bit sleepy from sitting. He yawned, stood up, and followed Zhao Desan out of the office to the end of the corridor where they often smoked. Zhao Desan opened the cigarette case, took out two cigarettes, put one in his mouth, handed one to him, and then stuffed the cigarette case to him.

"Comrade Xiao Zhao, what are you doing? This was specially bought for you by your brother. Do you think the grade is not enough or?" Xia Jian held the cigarette case and looked at it, asking with some worry.

"Where is it? Brother Xia, don't overthink it. You gave me a carton of cigarettes, so as a courtesy, I'll return a pack to you." Zhao Desan laughed as if nothing had happened.

Xia Jian walked up, wrapped his arms around Zhao Desan, and whispered: "Brother, I'll leave the matter of that day to you. Don't tell anyone."

Zhao Desan immediately raised his head and chest, patted his chest twice, and said righteously: "Brother Xia, no matter what, I, Zhao Desan, am a man! I will never measure a gentleman's belly with a villain's heart! A real man's word is his bond. I said I would keep it secret for you, so I will keep it secret for you. I will never break my promise! You can rest assured about this!"

Seeing Zhao Desan making such a serious guarantee, it didn't look like a trick, so Xia Jian was completely relieved. He patted him on the shoulder and laughed wickedly: "Comrade Xiao Zhao, what do you think brother should do to thank you? How about I introduce a female college student to you too?"

"Brother Xia, I understand your difficulties. Isn't it because sister-in-law is pregnant for ten months and can't do that? As for me, when I want to vent at night, I go out and spend a hundred yuan to have a shot, and it's different every time. I can't afford to support current female college students." Zhao Desan said with a smile.

Xia Jian patted him on the shoulder and laughed wickedly: "Also, you kid really know how to calculate."

"By the way, Brother Xia, do you have any news about the promotion of Deputy Section Chief above?" Zhao Desan began to lead the topic to the main point.

Xia Jian looked at him with a strange gaze, appearing very vigilant, shook his head and said: "No, I haven't heard anything. Why, Comrade Xiao Zhao, do you have news in this regard?"

Seeing that he had whetted Xia Jian's appetite, Zhao Desan deliberately smoked and tilted his head to play mysterious, making Xia Jian anxiously ask: "Comrade Xiao Zhao, did you get the news from your cousin? Reveal it to brother, brother won't compete with you."

Bah! Not compete with me? It would be strange if you didn't compete with me! Zhao Desan cursed secretly in his heart. "I do have some news here, but it's not what you think, Brother Xia. I'm afraid it will make you unhappy if I say it." Zhao Desan deliberately beat around the bush to hook his interest. ===== CHAPTER 1245 =====
