Chapter 324

Wang Wang Wang Anguo had always acted as Gao Gao Husheng's protector, but with Director Zhang present and so angry, he felt embarrassed to stand up for Gao Gao Husheng. He also feigned anger and asked: "How many people died? Including the injured, how many in total?"

"Eleven died, and twelve or thirteen were injured and have already been sent to the hospital for emergency treatment."

Wang Wang Wang Anguo walked to Zhang Zhang Ailing's side and whispered: "Director Zhang, what do you think..."

Zhang Zhang Ailing said with a cold face: "Old Gao, you are clearly slapping us in the face! If Vice Mayor Yu finds out about this, how are we supposed to answer for it! I think my position as Director won't be secure! Your mine won't be secure either! Tell me what to do!"

Gao Gao Husheng said timidly in a low voice: "Director Zhang, this matter... I'm afraid we can't let Vice Mayor Yu know, right?"

"With such a big thing happening, do you think paper can wrap up fire!" Zhang Zhang Ailing's attitude was quite severe. It was also the first time Zhao Desan had seen her so serious, and he felt a bit timid, standing to the side and not daring to make a sound.

Gao Gao Husheng looked at Wang Wang Wang Anguo with pleading eyes. Wang Wang Wang Anguo said to Zhang Zhang Ailing: "Director Zhang, look, we can't let Vice Mayor Yu know about this for now, right? If he finds out, he will definitely be furious, and when he blames us, we won't be able to avoid being implicated."

"Blame is inevitable. This is our bureau's work. If an accident happens, you as Vice Director and I certainly won't be able to escape responsibility." Having said this, she turned her head and snapped at Song Song Jihong: "And you! You, as the Section Chief of the Safety and Quality Section, go to the countryside for inspections often, but your work is a complete mess!"

Song Song Jihong lowered his head under Zhang Zhang Ailing's criticism and didn't say a word. Usually, going to the countryside for inspections was just going through the motions; occasionally, he would find some small problems, but faced with the money placed before him, he would just let it go. Now that a problem had suddenly occurred, he was terrified.

At this moment, Zhao Desan also lowered his head slightly, his heart beating fast, fearing that he would be implicated.

Gao Gao Husheng stepped forward and whispered something in Zhang Zhang Ailing's ear. She stared at him with a straight face and ordered: "Handle the scene quickly, don't let the outside world know, especially the media reporters!"

Gao Gao Husheng nodded repeatedly and arranged for people to bury the bodies of the victims to destroy the evidence.

Zhao Desan, who had kept a sharp eye out, secretly took out his phone and, taking advantage of their lack of attention, turned on the recording function and filmed the entire process.

After standing at the scene for a while, Gao Gao Husheng invited them to the mine's reception room to discuss countermeasures.

Regarding this major accident, Zhang Zhang Ailing had no choice but to help Gao Gao Husheng cover it up. Every time Vice Mayor Yu held a special meeting, he would clearly state his position on safety accidents. If an accident occurred, the top leader and the competent leader would all be held accountable—at best, demoted; at worst, dismissed. If Vice Mayor Yu found out about this, the consequences would be self-evident.

Zhang Zhang Ailing warned everyone present: "Everyone here has responsibility for today's accident and cannot escape involvement! If Vice Mayor Yu finds out about this, he will absolutely not be lenient and will definitely handle it strictly! Old Wang, what do you think we should do?"

Wang Wang Wang Anguo was a smart man and naturally knew Zhang Zhang Ailing's initial thoughts. He went with the flow and said: "Director Zhang, I think we shouldn't report this to the municipal committee, right? If the municipal committee finds out, you and I will both be implicated. Vice Mayor Yu's character is too strict; he will definitely punish us without mercy. Although it's said that no matter how well safety work is done, accidents can still happen. I think you should make the decision, Director Zhang. Whatever you say, we will do. Just let Old Gao cooperate well. Old Gao, what do you say?"
