Chapter 4228

Zhao Desan frowned and said quickly: "I am not Mayor Qi." Out of instinct, he questioned: "What are you doing?"

The rat-eyed man who led the group said: "We came to talk to Mayor Qi about the new rural construction. Since you are not Mayor Qi, then we will look for Mayor Qi!" As he spoke, the rat-eyed man sat down on the sofa in the reception room.

Hearing the rat-eyed man's words, Zhao Desan was stunned for a moment, then asked suspiciously: "Talk about what new rural construction? New rural construction is the government's business, what does it have to do with you?"

The rat-eyed man glanced at Zhao Desan and said arrogantly: "Mayor Qi promised that the sand and stone materials used for the new rural construction would be supplied by us, but now he has suddenly changed his mind!"

Hearing the rat-eyed man's words, Zhao Desan understood. He thought to himself that it seemed these hooligans had also seen a business opportunity and wanted to make some money from the government project. He couldn't help but chuckle and said: "This new rural construction project is a key project established by the Chanba District Government in the second half of this year. It is a project for the benefit of the people. The supply of building materials must go through strict approval and checks; it's not up to Mayor Qi to decide!"

The rat-eyed man sneered and said arrogantly: "It's not up to Mayor Qi, so it's up to you? Who do you think you are! Mayor Qi already promised us, what are you babbling about!"

Zhao Desan chuckled and said: "To tell you the truth, I am a leader from the district. I am solely responsible for this new rural construction work. As for who supplies the sand and stone, it is impossible for Mayor Qi to decide!"

As soon as the rat-eyed man heard Zhao Desan say he was from the district, he stood up immediately and clamored: "Oh, so you are the leader in the district responsible for this matter. We were just looking for you. It really is a case of 'finding something after a long search, only to have it come easily'!"

Damn it! Zhao Desan saw this guy immediately turn his spearhead toward him, and for a moment he felt a bit like he had been tricked. He thought to himself, "Damn, is that bastard Mayor Qi trying to play me?" He cursed inwardly, trying his best to remain calm. He couldn't let this rat-eyed guy see that he was guilty, but the uncontrollable trembling made his heart beat like a drum. His hands couldn't calmly cross over his chest, and he chuckled and said: "Brothers, your idea of monopolizing the sand and stone is too naive. The new rural construction project is a project concerning people's livelihood, and the district will not mess around!"

Sure enough, these people were not here with good intentions. The rat-eyed man sneered and said: "I don't care what your district thinks. Now that this project is being implemented in our Shenlong Town, we locals must definitely get some profit from it! Otherwise, don't even think about carrying out this project smoothly!"

Zhao Desan knew that these guys relied on being local bullies and didn't take him seriously at all, so he sneered and said: "No one should think about going against the government. The government will absolutely not accommodate you on this matter!"

The rat-eyed man laughed and said arrogantly: "If you want to carry out the project in our area, you must listen to us locals. Otherwise, you, District Mayor Liu, don't even think about carrying out this project smoothly. Since you, District Mayor Liu, are here today, you must agree to our request!"

Looking at the other party's aggressive appearance, Zhao Desan sneered and said: "Brothers, what if I don't agree to you today?"

Seeing Zhao Desan's unchanging demeanor, the rat-eyed man shouted at him: "District Mayor Liu, I, your brother, have given you enough face today. You won't agree? Hmph! You can go ask around on the streets of Shenlong Town. If there's something we want to do, there's simply no room for negotiation in Shenlong Town and the neighboring county town. Even the leaders of the neighboring county government have to give us some face. Today, we brothers are waiting for your reply!"

Zhao Desan squeezed out a smile and tried his best to keep his tone calm: "Brothers, I have already made it very clear just now. It's not that I don't want to agree to what you said, but there are clear requirements from above. All matters concerning materials need to be publicly tendered..."

"Heh heh, stop trying to fool me. You leaders are just trying to extract benefits from it! You're just trying to give it to someone else!" Before Zhao Desan could finish explaining, the rat-eyed man started shouting foul language.

"Brothers, don't be anxious, don't get angry, let me finish, okay?" Zhao Desan said patiently. He wasn't particularly afraid of these few hooligans. If that were really the case, he could have just walked away and left this mess for Mayor Qi to solve. But since he was responsible for the new rural construction, and these things happened during the specific implementation process, he definitely had to stand up and solve it...

The rat-eyed man didn't seem to want to buy Zhao Desan's account. His green-bean-like eyes glared, and he continued to get angry and curse. Another guy on the side stood up, stopped the rat-eyed man, and said: "Fine, then let's listen to what Deputy District Mayor Liu has to say first. But today, the matter of the sand and stone must be agreed to by us brothers. Otherwise, no matter who the hell you are, we brothers won't be polite!"

Zhao Desan ignored them and continued: "How about this, I will write this matter down, and then when I go back, I will report it to the big leaders in the district. If other leaders agree, then we will let you do it, how about that?" This was a pretext Zhao Desan had considered on the spot. He thought that since he saw the other party's arrogant momentum, he didn't want to be on the same level as these people, so he would just send them away first.

Seeing that Zhao Desan had compromised a step, the rat-eyed man immediately changed his face and played the rogue: "District Mayor Liu, we are not trying to make things difficult for you. I know that you leaders also have to listen to the arrangements from above, but this matter must be handed over to us to handle. Since you are here today, your official position is higher than Mayor Qi's, so it must be up to you. Mayor Qi already promised us to supply it, can't you agree?" The rat-eyed man clearly didn't want to look for trouble with Mayor Qi. ===== CHAPTER 4229 =====
