Chapter 465: Who dares to bully Bai Ling?

"Bai Bai Jie, have you not finished sweeping the courtyard yet?" He looked around; judging by the dim streetlamp light, the courtyard already looked clean.

"I finished sweeping, I was... I was waiting for you." Bai Ling said, head lowered. Her voice sounded somewhat hoarse, as if she had been crying.

His intuition told him she had been wronged, just like the first time he met her at the Logistics Department. He asked her, "Bai Bai Jie, what's wrong? Did someone bully you?"

"No... no one bullied me." Bai Ling kept her head down, refusing to lift it.

Seeing her so timid and submissive made him angry. He said sternly, "Impossible!" Without further ado, he lifted her chin to look. Her face, originally fair and pretty, was covered in blue and purple bruises; it was clear she had been beaten.

"Who did this?" He asked, his stomach full of anger.

Bai Ling twisted her face away, brushed his hand aside, and said in a small, aggrieved voice, "No... no one hit me."

"Was it Li Li Shanshan?" He guessed. In the bureau, besides Li Li Shanshan, there was no one else who had a grudge against her.

Bai Ling turned her face away and remained silent.

"It was her, wasn't it?" He demanded. A wave of fury rose in him. The beautiful woman who had left such a good impression on him now appeared in his mind like a demon. "Cheap slut!"

"Comrade Xiao Zhao, don't blame her. It's me... it's my fault. I shouldn't have had that happen with you... she likes you." Bai Ling felt it was her own fault and didn't want Zhao Desan to stand up for her.

"But I don't like her!" Hearing her submissive words made him angry. "You're being bullied by her and you're still speaking well of her!"

Bai Ling turned her face, gazing at him with watery, affectionate eyes for a moment, then lowered her head and said, "Comrade Xiao Zhao, I waited for you today because I wanted to tell you something. I didn't come to complain to you."

"What is it? Speak." He said, huffing as he pulled out a cigarette and lit it. ===== CHAPTER 466 =====
