Chapter 4655

"It's like this. Our Chanba District talked about an investment attraction project, which is a Hong Kong listed enterprise. Originally, it was talked about very well with the district, and it was about to sign a contract, but it was intervened by Baoping City halfway. The Baoping Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government proposed more generous conditions and policies to that enterprise. Now that enterprise is more inclined to invest and build a factory in Baoping City. Comrade Xiao Zhao's meaning is to ask you to help intercede with the leaders of Baoping City and give this enterprise to their district. They have spent a lot of effort for this investment attraction."

"Hehe, isn't this investment attraction a fair competition? How can I say this to the leaders of Baoping City?" Li Qike politely rejected his wife's idea.

Hearing her husband's words, Zhu Xiufang looked at him with some dissatisfaction and said, "Comrade Xiao Zhao came to me for this matter, and I promised him. You can't make me lose face, right?"

Judging from his wife's reaction, Li Qike felt that she was really quite concerned about Zhao Desan's affairs, so he chuckled and said, "Hehe, Xiufang, you are really quite concerned about Comrade Xiao Zhao's affairs."

"What kind of talk is this! Comrade Xiao Zhao came to me, and I promised him. If you don't help, how can I tell him!" Zhu Xiufang pretended to be a bit angry and pulled a long face when she heard Li Qike's words.

This somewhat abnormal reaction of Zhu Xiufang made Li Qike have to suspect that Zhao Desan was the man his wife had seen at the hotel. Looking at her flushed face, coupled with the abnormal behavior of taking a shower as soon as she got home, Li Qike had to believe that his wife had betrayed him. However, Li Qike himself was also messing around outside and was not clean. Besides, there was no solid evidence to prove that his wife Zhu Xiufang had betrayed him. Coupled with the fact that Zhu Xiufang was also a state public servant, both of them worked in government agencies. Even if there was solid evidence to prove that his wife had an affair, considering each other's status, position, and social influence, for the sake of his future in his official career, Li Qike could not expose this matter in front of his wife. But not exposing this matter in front of Zhu Xiufang didn't mean Li Qike would ignore it. He had already made a decision in his heart to investigate this matter thoroughly to see if it was Zhao Desan who gave him a green hat. He thought that if it really was that kid, then not to mention letting him help him, he would definitely find an opportunity to take revenge on that kid!

Thinking this way, not wanting to arouse his wife's suspicion, Li Qike reluctantly agreed and said, "Alright then, I'll find time in these two days to call the leaders of Baoping City and talk about this matter, and see what they say."

"That's right. Whether it can be done is one thing, and whether to help with this favor is another. You made the call, and as for whether it succeeds or not, I can give Comrade Xiao Zhao an answer, at least I've saved face." Seeing her husband agree, Zhu Xiufang said with a smile.

Although Li Qike agreed to his wife's request on the surface, he had a knot in his heart. From the incident of accidentally meeting his wife at the hotel this afternoon, Li Qike had an extra concern in his heart. At the same time, when he worked in Baoping City, his old parents had proposed more than once for him to transfer back to Xijing to live with his wife Zhu Xiufang, fearing that Zhu Xiufang would have an extramarital affair, which was also a matter his old parents were worried about. This made Li Qike have to suspect that Zhu Xiufang had already put a green hat on him, and this person was very likely Zhao Desan, who was ten or twenty years younger than him and looked tall and handsome.

"This Comrade Xiao Zhao is really something. Why didn't he just tell me directly? Why did he have to ask you to pass it on to me?" Li Qike deliberately looked at his wife Zhu Xiufang with a confused face and asked.

Zhu Xiufang smiled as if nothing was wrong and said, "Comrade Xiao Zhao was embarrassed to tell you directly, so he asked me to pass it on to you."

Li Qike chuckled twice with a fake smile and said, "So you're saying Comrade Xiao Zhao's relationship with you is better than with me?"

Zhu Xiufang seemed to have realized something, paused, rolled her eyes at Li Qike, and scolded, "Look at what you're saying. I'm definitely more familiar with Comrade Xiao Zhao than you are. It's reasonable for him to find me. It's just that he's afraid that if he finds you directly, he'll be rejected by you!"

"That's true." Li Qike saw that Zhu Xiufang was a bit angry, so he smiled and didn't continue to test her. Following that, he had another jolt in his heart and said to his wife Zhu Xiufang with a wicked smile, "I'm going to take a shower first, wait for me on the bed!"

"Hmph! Not in the mood!" Zhu Xiufang hummed lightly and walked toward the bedroom.

Seeing his wife's reaction, Li Qike felt even more uneasy, because usually every time he came home, it was almost his wife begging him to go to bed. Today he was so active, and she actually said she wasn't in the mood, which made Li Qike have to be suspicious! Standing in place for a while, Li Qike finished his shower in the bathroom. When he returned to the room, he saw his wife lying on the bed reading a book, ignoring him. In fact, Li Qike didn't really want to do anything with her. He had been tossing around with a beautiful woman in the hotel all afternoon, and his whole body was almost limp. Where would he have that energy now?
