Chapter 707

~10 min read 1,807 words

The wife behind him felt very lost; her own man cared less and less about her now. But she was only in her forties, after all, and she didn't have to do any work at home, didn't have to face the wind and sun, used high-end cosmetics, and kept her figure with a protruding front and back. Although the two high mounds on her chest were slightly sagging due to age after giving birth, they were still very white, tender, and smooth, and the skin all over her body was maintained to be jade-white and tender; she wasn't exactly a "yellow-faced woman." At such an age of strong physiological needs, being forgotten by her man in this regard early on made her feel very empty inside. She glanced disappointedly at Zheng Tulu, who was already fast asleep beside her, lay flat helplessly, and closed her watery eyes. The image of Zhao De looking back and smiling at her that night floated into her mind, and she gradually began to fantasize.

Last night was too tiring. Zhao De opened his swollen eyes, struggling weakly to sit up, and said, "Sister Su, leaving so early?"

"The nine o'clock flight, if I don't leave now, I won't make it," Su Qing said while organizing her bag. Seeing his exhausted look, she smiled charmingly and said, "Are your legs feeling weak today?"

Zhao De chuckled and nodded, "My back and waist are aching."

"Who told you to watch that thing last night? Once I saw that thing, Sister couldn't hold back either. But fortunately, women aren't as affected," Su Qing said with a gloating laugh.

"It seems I have to sleep well for a whole day today," Zhao De said with a bitter smile, noticing that after being irrigated by him last night, Sister Su looked very good today, her complexion rosy and glowing, making her look much younger.

"Aren't you going to Director Zheng's house?" Su Qing reminded him, slinging her bag over her shoulder.

Once Su Qing reminded him, Zhao De suddenly remembered he had promised to go to Zheng Tulu's house as a 'guest' on the weekend. He twisted his sore neck and said, "I'll go over in the afternoon, I'll sleep for a while in the morning first."

"Then sleep well. Sister won't be here for these two days, so rest up and build your strength. I'll want more when I get back," Su Qing said with a flirtatious laugh, saying it on purpose.

"If you want it, you'll get it. Who's afraid of whom?" Zhao De said, not to be outdone. Anyway, she was going to Beijing for a meeting for two days, so he would rest well for two days, and when she came back, he would have recovered his vitality; he wasn't afraid of her.

Su Qing smiled charmingly, glanced at the watch on her wrist, and said, "Alright, Sister won't babble with you anymore. If I don't leave now, I won't make the flight. Sister is leaving, call me if anything happens." Saying this, she turned around with her leather bag on her back and walked out gracefully.

A moment later, he heard the living room door make a sound. Zhao De knew she had gone out, so he lay back down to catch up on sleep.

Because Zhao Desan had promised Zheng Tulu that he would visit his home on Saturday, Zheng Tulu had instructed his wife early this morning to go to the vegetable market outside the residential complex to buy more groceries. He, who never did housework, also appeared very diligent, cleaning the living room inside and out. This left Zheng Ru, who had just woken up, showered, and emerged from the bathroom in her pajamas, completely bewildered. She stood to the side, watching the old man—who was usually too lazy to even empty an ashtray at home—actually mopping the floor, and said in surprise, "Oh my, has the sun really risen from the west today? Our family's high-and-mighty official is actually cleaning?"

Facing his precious daughter's teasing tone, Zheng Tulu didn't tell her the truth that Zhao De was coming to the house today, fearing that if he said it in advance, Ruru would be unhappy. He just looked up and said with a smile, "Can't your old man exercise his body?"

"Sure," Zheng Ru said with a smile. She looked around and didn't see her mom, so she asked curiously, "Where's my mom?"

"She went downstairs to buy groceries," Zheng Tulu said while mopping the floor.

Zheng Ru said "Oh" and walked into the bedroom scratching her hair. Zheng Tulu said to her while mopping, "Ruru, don't always wear pajamas at home. It's impolite if a guest comes."

"Is a guest coming today?" Zheng Ru asked, poking her head out from the doorway. "I was wondering why you were so diligent early in the morning. Is it another friend coming to ask you for a favor?" She looked at him with a mischievous smile.

"You'll know when they come," Zheng Tulu said with a mysterious smile, keeping his mouth shut and not telling her who was coming today.

"Pfft!" Zheng Ru curled her lips in disdain, pulled her head back into the room, closed the door from the inside, turned on the computer, and logged into QQ. She scrolled the mouse to find someone to chat with, but not many people were online early in the morning. She dragged it to Zhao De's avatar and clicked on the star-marked space, wanting to see what good things were in his space. Who knew the space was password-protected.

When Zheng Tulu finished cleaning, his wife also returned from buying groceries. As soon as she entered the door and saw him cleaning the living room until it was clean and tidy, she looked at him in surprise for a while. They had been married for so many years, and she had never seen him take the initiative to clean. He was used to being an official; every day when he returned home, he would only put on official airs and order her to serve tea, pour water, wash clothes, and cook. Today's action really made her feel surprisingly astonished.

"What are you looking at? Why don't you go to the kitchen to wash up and prepare?" Zheng Tulu instructed when he saw her stunned. He raised his wrist to look at his watch; it was almost nine o'clock. In July, nine o'clock in the morning was already mid-morning. Why hadn't this Zhao De come yet? Zheng Tulu was a bit anxious, so he took his mobile phone, walked to the balcony, found his number in the address book, and dialed it directly.

When Zheng Tulu called, Zhao De was making up for the sleep he had missed from lingering with Sister Su for most of the night. The phone on the bedside table buzzed and vibrated. He initially thought it was a fly circling in the room, so he turned over and covered his head with the quilt, but the buzzing sound kept going. Only then did he think it must be his phone ringing. He impatiently lifted the blanket, reached out his hand with difficulty to grab the phone, squinted his sore, sleepy eyes to glance at the screen, and vaguely saw it was Director Zheng. He hurriedly blinked hard, shook his head vigorously to make himself a bit more awake, sat up from the bed, pressed the answer button, put the phone to his ear, and asked him with a warm, chuckling greeting, "Director Zheng, what instructions do you have for calling me so early?"

"Xiao Zhao, didn't we agree to come to the house as a guest today? Why haven't you come over yet at this time?" Zheng Tulu said with a leisurely chuckle, "I specifically pushed back several social engagements today to wait for you to come over at home."

Damn, this guy must be crazy for that Vacheron Constantin watch, calling me to bring it over so early. Zhao De thought, and said with a tone of sudden realization and a hint of apology, "Oh, Director Zheng, I'm really sorry. I didn't sleep well all night last night, and I suddenly fell asleep until dawn. If you hadn't called, I would have almost missed your time and made you wait in vain at home. I'm coming over right away, coming right away." Saying this, Zhao De lifted the blanket, got out of bed, walked out to sit on the living room sofa, and lit a cigarette to refresh himself.

"Mm, then come over early if you have nothing else to do. Your aunt specifically bought a lot of food today waiting for you to come over and cook. Ruru is also at home and hasn't gone out. Come over and chat with me properly." Zheng Tulu's tone sounded very amiable, completely unlike the guy who put on official airs, bullied people, and was aggressive when he had a conflict with him at the restaurant that night.

Zhao De squeezed a cold smile at the corner of his mouth, thinking that officials are all the same, all like they've been smeared with lubricant, saying one thing to people and another to ghosts. While secretly mocking him, he hurriedly agreed with a chuckle, "I'll wash up and come over right away. I'm really sorry to keep you waiting for so long, Director Zheng."

"No matter, no matter," Zheng Tulu chuckled, and added, "Just come over yourself in a while, no need to specifically bring other things."

"Director Zheng, I know," Zhao De understood what he meant by this sentence and chuckled with mutual understanding. Isn't he just reminding me to bring that watch? He thought, took out the watch box he had placed under the coffee table, and put it on the coffee table, ready to stuff it in when he left in a while.

Zheng Tulu chuckled with satisfaction and said, "That's fine, just come over directly in a while."

After hanging up the phone, Zhao De dragged his exhausted body to the bathroom for a hot shower. He came out, walked to the refrigerator, took out two boxes of Mengniu Telunsu, opened them, tilted his head, and gulped them down into his stomach, which counted as replenishing his strength. He returned to the bedroom, opened the wardrobe door, selected a casual T-shirt to wear, chose a stylish pair of jeans, and paired them with a pair of brown leather shoes. The whole person looked sunny, handsome, and imposing, completely different from the stiff look of his work uniform when he went to work. The only thing that didn't look very good was that he had been squeezed dry of vitality by Su Qing last night and hadn't rested well, so his complexion didn't look very good.
