Chapter 127: Opportunity, Obsession

After roughly checking a few places he was interested in, he still returned the jade slip to his grandfather with great reluctance. He would wait for his grandfather to copy one for him before he would examine it slowly himself!

Chatting and drinking tea with his grandfather, the pot of tea was soon finished. After saying a word to his grandfather, Lin Zhangqing returned to his room.

Lin Zhangqing's cultivation was already at the peak of the seventh layer of Qi Refining. He was considering whether to consume a hundred-year Vermilion Fruit or a little Hundred Flowers Drunken Soul Wine, and wait until he advanced to the eighth layer of Qi Refining before switching to cultivate the Five Elements Chaos Scripture.

This way, the spiritual energy in his dantian would be a bit more, and the cultivation base remaining after switching would also be a bit higher. Moreover, after breaking through to the eighth layer of Qi Refining, he estimated that his divine sense would also increase a bit.

Suddenly, a thought occurred to him; perhaps he could try to break through directly without using the Vermilion Fruit or spirit wine. Anyway, there wouldn't be any loss.

In fact, Lin Zhangqing was already at this cultivation level before the beast tide began. He had experienced the baptism of the beast tide and had also accepted the task from his Great-Grandmother, taking a trip into the Ziyang Secret Realm.

He had already settled enough and should have broken through long ago; it was just that he had always wanted to switch to the Five Elements Chaos Scripture, so he had dragged it out until now.

He set his posture, sat cross-legged with his five hearts facing upward, looked at his nose, and his nose looked at his heart. After entering meditation, he began to circulate the heavenly cycle and practiced the Five Elements Return to Origin Scripture. After a few cycles, he confirmed that the spiritual energy in his dantian was full and abundant.

Then he began to guide the spiritual energy in his dantian to impact the acupoints in his meridians. There was only one acupoint left. He would also try to impact it during his usual practice, but he had never succeeded.

In the dark, there was a very strong feeling that he would definitely not fail this time.

So Lin Zhangqing gritted his teeth; he didn't want to wait anymore. He would just follow his feeling. Spirit, will, and intention were combined into one. In one go, he fully guided the spiritual energy to dash toward that acupoint.

A strong stinging pain came, and then he heard a loud "boom" in his mind. Subsequently, the surrounding spiritual energy surged rapidly toward Lin Zhangqing's body.

A wave of refreshing feelings came. Having had the experience of breaking through many times, Lin Zhangqing wouldn't be too excited now. Taking advantage of this breakthrough opportunity, Lin Zhangqing was carefully feeling the changes happening inside and outside his body.

A cultivator's body is a huge treasure. Lin Zhangqing hoped to have more understanding of his own body, but the extremely clear feeling after the breakthrough soon disappeared and could no longer be captured! At the same time, a layer of grayish-white filth was discharged from the surface of his body, and his aura also surged by a large margin.

Since that feeling had disappeared, he should concentrate his spirit and consolidate the realm he had just broken through to! Looking at the tenth meridian that had been completely opened, he continuously circulated the heavenly cycle, and the spiritual energy finally flowed into his dantian, cycling like this many times.

This consolidation took several hours. By the time Lin Zhangqing opened his eyes again, it was already the next morning.

Fortunately, the spiritual energy in his dantian had gradually become full, and his cultivation of the eighth layer of Qi Refining had gradually stabilized.

He checked his divine sense and found that, as he had expected, his detection range had increased by another ten zhang. Now it was about ninety zhang, which was about 270 meters.

His dantian had also expanded accordingly. After a rough estimate, it should be about fifty percent more spiritual energy than the seventh layer of Qi Refining.

Looking inside at his dantian and the ten meridians that had been completely opened, Lin Zhangqing still felt quite a sense of accomplishment.

And now that his cultivation was higher, his safety on this trip to Tongshan Village in Jinzhou Prefecture would certainly be more guaranteed.

The human body has twelve meridians. From the first layer to the sixth layer of Qi Refining, opening one meridian allows one to break through one layer of cultivation.

But from the seventh layer to the ninth layer of Qi Refining, one must open two meridians for each layer. By the ninth layer of Qi Refining, all twelve meridians must be completely opened.

Then one begins to polish the spiritual energy in the dantian, preparing for the next stage of breaking through to the Foundation Establishment stage.

In a very comfortable mood, he cleaned the filth off his body and changed into a new set of clothes before Lin Zhangqing went to the cave abode hall. His grandfather was already waiting for him there.

Lin Zhangqing hurriedly stepped forward to pay his respects and greet him, and told him the news that he had successfully broken through to the eighth layer of Qi Refining yesterday.

Hearing Lin Zhangqing's good news, his grandfather laughed heartily before saying to Lin Zhangqing, "I felt the spiritual energy fluctuations from your room last night and guessed that you should have broken through."

"It seems yesterday was definitely a good day; our family can be considered to have had three happy events in one day." Lin Zhangqing also smiled and said, "Yesterday, I was also influenced by Father and Second Uncle, so I decided to try to break through. Fortunately, I succeeded."

His grandfather nodded and said, "Cultivation also pays attention to opportunities and triggers. Yesterday, when your father and the others succeeded in Foundation Establishment, the shackles of obsession in your heart gradually faded. For you, that should have been an opportunity."

"Just like when I practiced yesterday, I also felt that my cultivation had improved a bit more than usual. It should be for the same reason. The saying 'constant thinking will surely lead to a response' should be the principle."

Lin Zhangqing listened and suddenly realized. He felt that what his grandfather said was correct and very reasonable. Cultivation is not just about practicing the body and mana; it is also a cultivation of the mind.

Lin Zhangqing stood up and thanked his grandfather solemnly, "Thank you for your teaching, Grandfather. Grandson has learned much!"

His grandfather nodded with gratification, "There is one more thing. Your cultivation is already at the eighth layer of Qi Refining, which is the same as your mother's. Among the Five Spirit Roots recorded in the Lin family, your cultivation speed should be the fastest."

"So you should still keep the Hidden Spirit Technique running in your daily life to hide one or two layers of your cultivation. This way, you won't attract too much attention, and at critical moments, there might even be unexpected surprises!"

Lin Zhangqing hadn't thought about this aspect before. Now, hearing his grandfather's words, he chuckled. He didn't expect his grandfather to be so experienced; he was indeed an old hand who often walked outside.

"Grandfather, you are an old hand. Grandson will listen to you. I'll just hide one layer of cultivation. Otherwise, if I become a mid-stage Qi Refining cultivator, others might think I'm easy to bully!"

His grandfather nodded, agreeing with Lin Zhangqing's decision.

Lin Zhangqing began to run the Hidden Spirit Technique, hiding some of his cultivation, and externally, he still showed the seventh layer of Qi Refining.

After getting used to it, Lin Zhangqing began to brew Green Jade Tea, and the grandfather and grandson began to chat. In fact, they were mainly waiting now.

His grandfather was waiting for Lin Zhangqing's father and second uncle to consolidate their cultivation and come out of seclusion to confirm that his two sons had successfully completed Foundation Establishment. After all, the grandfather and grandson had speculated yesterday that they had succeeded in Foundation Establishment, but they still had to see it with their own eyes to be at ease.

As for Lin Zhangqing, he remembered that he had promised his father that he would come to welcome him when he succeeded in Foundation Establishment and came out of seclusion. Now he could be considered to be fulfilling his promise to his father completely. However, the grandfather and grandson didn't wait for them to come out of seclusion that day. It wasn't until the afternoon of the third day, while the two were drinking tea and chatting,

that they suddenly heard a "crack!" sound from the cultivation room where Lin Zhangqing's father was in seclusion; the sealing restriction on the door had been opened.

His grandfather had already stood up excitedly, while Lin Zhangqing hurriedly ran to the door of the cultivation room to wait.

Soon, the door was opened, and his father, Lin Maosheng, walked out with a smile on his face.

Sensing the second-stage spiritual pressure emanating from his father, he confirmed that it was indeed a successful Foundation Establishment.

Lin Zhangqing was so happy that he couldn't help but rush up and hug him, shouting happily and loudly, "Congratulations, Father, on your successful Foundation Establishment! From now on, may you have longevity and may your immortal path flourish forever!"

Seeing his son had returned safely and had come to welcome him when he succeeded in Foundation Establishment and came out of seclusion,

Lin Maosheng was also especially happy. He didn't mind his exaggerated words and just patted his son's back hard.

Then he came before his father, Lin Fandao, and paid his respects very seriously, saying, "Father, your son has not failed your expectations; I have successfully completed Foundation Establishment!"

Lin Fandao nodded, the corners of his eyes slightly moist. It took a while for him to adjust his emotions.

He said happily, "Good, succeeding in Foundation Establishment can only be considered taking the first step formally on the immortal path. In the future, you must continue to practice hard. The next goal is to break through to the Purple Mansion stage."
