Chapter 506: A New Look

The next day, the two estimated that the Great-Grandmother should have finished her cultivation, so they went to the mountaintop to see her according to their appointment!

The two were also very familiar with this place and didn't need anyone to lead the way, and along the way, they kept greeting the people they met!

When they arrived at the courtyard where the Great-Grandmother lived, she already knew they had come and was waiting for them in the living room. The two stepped forward to pay their respects and greet her. "Grandson! Greets Great-Grandmother!"

"Grandson! Greets Great-Grandmother!"

The Great-Grandmother looked them over and saw that both of their cultivation bases had improved by three layers, which she felt very satisfied with.

So she nodded and said, "Alright! No need for formalities, we are all family, find a place to sit yourselves!"

Lin Zhangqing answered and sat down below the Great-Grandmother.

Chen Zi Ya, however, very consciously took out a tea set and began to brew Jade Snail Spring Tea for the Great-Grandmother! The Great-Grandmother's main attention was still on Lin Zhangqing; there were very few descendants of the Lin family who could catch her eye! So she was truly more satisfied the more she looked at him, and she said to Lin Zhangqing, "Qing'er, tell me roughly about your experiences in this trial!"

Lin Zhangqing knew that the Great-Grandmother would definitely ask this, so he didn't hide too much, except for the part that couldn't be told.

He recounted all his experiences in the secret realm, including meeting up with Chen Zi Ya, discovering the purple bamboo forest, and subduing the Spirit-Shocking Cicadas,

hunting demon beasts, counter-killing for demon cores, and the final great melee at the sacrificial array, etc., all of which he recounted to the Great-Grandmother!

The Great-Grandmother deduced the content she heard in her heart and didn't find anything done incorrectly, feeling very happy! Especially when she heard that Lin Zhangqing had achieved first place in the Foundation Establishment stage and had also obtained a divine ability seed,

she felt even more that his performance in this trial was quite good and could be considered impeccable! At this time, Chen Zi Ya also said, "Great-Grandmother, we also discovered something inside this time.

We didn't know if it was good or not, so we brought it over this time to ask you to take a look!"

Upon hearing this, Great-Grandmother immediately knew that this item was certainly not simple; otherwise, they wouldn't have specifically brought it over for her to see! So, she said with a beaming smile, "Then why don't you take it out quickly? I really want to see what kind of good thing it is that you had to specifically bring for me to look at!"

Hearing this, Chen Zi Ya giggled and took out the jade slip from her storage bag; inside was the refining method for the Heaven-Defending Soul Shield! After the Great-Grandmother took it, she checked it directly; a Golden Core cultivator's divine sense was very powerful, and in just a short while, she had finished checking it! However, after the Great-Grandmother finished reading, her brows remained slightly furrowed, and after thinking for a while, she said, "This thing should be considered part of the core inheritance of the Black Soul Sect!

In terms of divine soul defense, it is indeed considered very outstanding, but the Black Soul Sect's reputation is very foul!

They once harmed cultivators of many sects on the Xuan Yan Continent and are considered the common enemy of all sects on this continent! And this kind of Heaven-Defending Soul Shield is their sect's signature magic treasure. If discovered by others, it might be difficult to explain clearly!

So if you really want to use it, you must be extremely cautious and must not let any news leak out; otherwise, there might be endless troubles!"

Lin Zhangqing nodded; he knew a little bit about the Black Soul Sect, so he had never dared to mention it to anyone! However, Chen Zi Ya didn't know the origin of this Black Soul Sect, so she couldn't help but ask curiously, "Did the people of the Black Soul Sect do something that angered both men and gods? How did they become the common enemy of the Xuan Yan Continent and suffer resistance and pursuit from everyone?"

The Great-Grandmother looked at her and explained, "It seems they used the souls of mortals and cultivators to refine a kind of soul liquid used to cultivate the divine soul.

But as for the specific matters, I am not too clear either! Anyway, it is definitely not a good path! The sect has records that anyone who falls into their hands basically ends up with their soul flying and scattering, and they have no chance for reincarnation.

Therefore, it angered very many cultivators, and in the end, they were jointly exterminated by many large sects! I heard that there are still some remnants hiding in remote places, struggling on at death's door, so it is best not to have any connection with them!"

Hearing the Great-Grandmother say this, Chen Zi Ya finally understood and knew that this thing was not as simple as the two of them thought; they might not be able to get the Heaven-Defending Soul Shield! She couldn't help but feel a little disappointed, so she couldn't help but ask, "Then can we not use this thing? Can it be slightly modified, or directly given a new look? Otherwise, it's a pity that such a good thing cannot be used!"

Hearing this, the Great-Grandmother chuckled and said, "When the Black Soul Sect was exterminated, those large sects that participated must have obtained the inheritance of the Black Soul Sect to some extent! Do you think they would let go of such good things? It must have already been given a new look; otherwise, why are soul-system materials so hard to find on the market? Even if I am not an artifact refiner specializing in artifact refining, I know that soul-system materials are precious and hard to obtain; isn't it because most of them have been collected by large sects!"

Hearing this, Lin Zhangqing and Chen Zi Ya both nodded; this matter was considered common sense, and even the two of them knew it!

The Great-Grandmother continued, "Don't think about this thing for the time being! Leave the jade slip with me for now; I will discuss it with True Person Ziyan to see if handing the thing to her for research can complete the work of giving it a new look!

Also, this matter definitely won't be that fast, so don't worry about it; it's best to act as if this matter never happened and cultivate with peace of mind!"

Lin Zhangqing and the other heard this and knew that this matter definitely wouldn't be that smooth, so they didn't hold such high hopes now!

The Great-Grandmother turned her gaze to Lin Zhangqing and asked, "Qing'er! Now that the trial is over! What are your plans for the next step?"

Lin Zhangqing also smiled and said, "Let's rest for a month or two first, and then travel around! However, I haven't thought about the specific destination yet. Does Great-Grandmother know of any good places to give your grandson some pointers?"

Upon hearing this, the Great-Grandmother couldn't help but laugh and said to Lin Zhangqing, "No wonder Jieyi always says you are craftier than a monkey when you get fur.

I just revealed a little bit of information, and you latched onto it; what a clever little fellow! However, I have just arrived on this Xuan Yan Continent, and the things I know are limited.

But on the way back this time, I did hear that someone in the Puppet Sect of the Wanfeng Region has successfully formed an Infant, and they will hold a Nascent Soul Grand Ceremony in half a year."
