Chapter 536: Green Spirit Observing Sha Technique

The middle-aged cultivator nodded and said, "It seems you know why I've sought you out, so there's no need for me to waste my breath! Just as you said, the conditions Bin'er offered are beneath you. If I were in your shoes, with your strength and methods, I would find them beneath me as well! I wonder, little friend, would you be interested in hearing the conditions I have to offer?"

Lin Zhangqing sighed inwardly, knowing he had brought trouble upon himself after all. But at this point, he had no choice; after all, those few cups of Fourth-Grade Pure Heart Tea were not drunk in vain. Thus, he spoke up: "Senior, please speak. This junior is all ears."

The middle-aged cultivator understood that since Lin Zhangqing was willing to listen to his terms, the matter was already five or six parts settled.

He then formally began: "I am Bai Jingling, an Outer Affairs Elder of the Bai family, currently at the mid-stage of Golden Core. I ask for your assistance, little friend, to help my grandson, Bai Shangbin, complete the mission of slaying a pair of Third-Grade Purple Cloud Eagles.

The condition I offer is this: as long as you are within the Bai family's sphere of influence, you shall be the most honored guest of the Bai family, and no one shall be permitted to touch you.

Furthermore, if you truly help Bin'er complete the mission, I will, in the future, act on your behalf once, unconditionally! What do you think?"

Upon hearing this, Lin Zhangqing remained silent, his mind involuntarily weighing the offer.

On the surface, the conditions Bai Jingling offered seemed quite good!

But upon closer inspection, it was actually highly unfair. If Lin Zhangqing wanted to complete the mission of slaying the Third-Grade Purple Cloud Eagles, he would have to go all out.

He might even have to deploy Lin Changliu; on the surface, it felt like a brush with death.

Yet, for Bai Jingling to act, it would likely be nothing more than a wave of his hand, which was why this was the most unfair part.

One side had to go all out, perhaps even facing a brush with death, while the other side merely had to lift a finger. That was why Lin Zhangqing remained silent.

The three of them remained in silence until, finally, Bai Jingling spoke: "It seems, little friend, that you are not satisfied with these conditions. How about adding this?"

Having said that, he took out a small jade box and placed it before Lin Zhangqing.

Lin Zhangqing sighed, picked up the jade box, and opened it to find, surprisingly, a jade slip.

Lin Zhangqing hesitated for a moment before taking it out, pressing it to his forehead, and examining it.

To his surprise, the content within was the complete text of the Observing Sha Technique. The full name of this secret art was "Green Spirit Observing Sha Technique."

Lin Zhangqing said in surprise, "Senior, this..."

Bai Jingling chuckled lightly: "Do not be too surprised. It is merely an auxiliary secret art and does not truly involve the core inheritance of the Bai family.

Besides, I obtained this secret art by chance while traveling; it is not unique to the Bai family. Although I have already presented it to the family, I still have the right to dispose of it!"

Lin Zhangqing nodded. In truth, this secret art was optional for him, as he always overwhelmed his opponents with sheer strength.

He didn't care much about whether an opponent was strong or not, but his family members and the clansmen of the Lin family needed this secret art.

So he said, "Very well! Since Senior has said as much, if I were to refuse again, I would be far too ungrateful!"

Hearing Lin Zhangqing say this, Bai Jingling laughed heartily; it was clear he was in a very good mood.

Afterward, he took a jade pendant from his person and handed it directly to Lin Zhangqing before saying, "This is my token. In the future, by relying on it, you may enjoy the treatment of an honored guest on Bai family territory, and you may also use this item to have me act on your behalf once.

However, in the future, I will recognize the token, not the person, so you must keep it safe!

I am here, and you cannot relax, so I will leave the remaining matters for you young people to discuss yourselves!" Having said this, he rose and left the garden.

Lin Zhangqing and Bai Shangbin both stood up and said, "Respectfully send off Senior Bai!"

"Respectfully send off Grandfather!"

Once Bai Jingling was out of sight, Bai Shangbin spoke: "Fellow Daoist Zhang, please sit. Let us discuss how we shall coordinate to complete this mission!"

Lin Zhangqing nodded, sat down, and asked directly, "Have you already located the target? What is the cultivation level of that pair of Purple Cloud Eagles?"

Bai Shangbin nodded and said, "I already know where they are. The ten mission targets for this trial were all specifically designated by the elders of the family.

They are all at the early stage of the Third-Grade. It is only my bad luck that I drew this mission.

Everyone else only needs to slay one Third-Grade demonic beast, while mine is a pair, which is why I absolutely had to find a powerful helper."

Lin Zhangqing curled his lip upon hearing this; there was definitely something fishy here that he didn't know about.

He believed that as the great-grandson of the Old Ancestor White Eyebrow, no matter how strict the rules were, Bai Shangbin would certainly enjoy more and rarer resources than others.

If he could obtain the position of a core disciple just by accepting the same trial as everyone else, that would truly be unfair.

Therefore, the fact that he drew the mission to slay two Third-Grade demonic beasts was likely the result of coordination behind the scenes.

However, since he had already accepted the mission, Lin Zhangqing didn't want to dwell on the reasons, so he asked, "Introduce me to the rules of this trial!"

Bai Shangbin nodded and said, "The rules this time are very simple: each person can find three helpers, but they can be no higher than the Foundation Establishment Great Perfection!

The time limit is three months; if this time is exceeded, the mission is considered a failure!

It is also forbidden for one's own elders to provide help above the Second-Grade; otherwise, it is also considered a failure!

Are those all the rules, or are there others?"

Lin Zhangqing thought for a moment before asking, "Then have you already found your other two helpers?"

Bai Shangbin said triumphantly, "Of course I have! One is at the late stage of Foundation Establishment, just like me, and the other is at the Foundation Establishment Great Perfection! They are absolutely reliable candidates; the two of them are Outer Hall suppliers who have defected to our lineage.

Furthermore, they have married into our lineage and have children within the family, so they are absolutely reliable.

Now, with you added, the team is complete, and we can depart at any time!"

Lin Zhangqing looked at him seriously and continued to ask, "Don't be in such a hurry. Let me ask clearly before we talk about departing! If I deal with one Purple Cloud Eagle alone, can the three of you handle the other one?

And how can you guarantee that the Purple Cloud Eagles will come down to fight us? Don't you dare tell me we're going to slay them in the air.

These avian spirit beasts are naturally adept at flying; we low-grade cultivators are no match for them in the air! If you harbor any delusions of slaying them in the air, that is purely seeking death, and I will not accompany you!"
