Chapter 24: Chapter Twenty-Four: Only He Is Not Allowed
Yu Ke was so engrossed in looking that she came back to her senses, laughing embarrassedly.
"It's so noisy!"
Cheng Li, who had been woken by the noise, gave a cold glance and said.
"You're here to help—what are you still sleeping for?"
Yu Ke retorted.
"What are you here for?"
"How come? Liuli asked me to come—is that not allowed?"
Yu Ke clung to Liuli's arm, deliberately annoying Cheng Li.
Cheng Li had just woken up and couldn't be bothered to argue with her.
"Being young is great!"
Uncle also woke up, stretched a big yawn, and the flesh on his belly bulged even more.
"Since you all want to help so much, let's get busy—I won't stand on ceremony!"
"Uncle, just tell us what needs doing!"
Cheng Li instantly perked up.
"Uncle, I can help too!"
Yu Ke chimed in, eager to speak.
"Don't rush, there's plenty to do! Why don't you clean the whole shop?"
"All right!"
Yu Ke and Cheng Li answered as if competing.
Soon, one wiped tables while the other mopped the floor.
Bai Xu stared at their vigor, dumbfounded, and hurriedly looked for something to do.
"Uncle, these people aren't bad, right?"
Liuli laughed, seeing their posture really like they were about to go all out.
"My little shop can't handle their tossing about!"
"Add me one, and let your shop be completely renewed."
After saying that, Liuli followed them to get busy.
Uncle watched them while continuing to rub his big belly.
The four of them didn't really know what they were busy with, but their busy appearance made Uncle laugh.
Soon, the sun slowly set, and they also needed to prepare to start receiving guests.
But after waiting a long time, no one came; finally, a few people arrived.
Uncle didn't feel anxious either, as if it didn't matter how many people came, and making money seemed unimportant.
Liuli, however, felt that there were noticeably fewer people than before, not knowing if it was her imagination; she always felt she had burdened Uncle.
"Liuli, have you seen your grades?"
Yu Ke saw Liuli spacing out and asked.
"I haven't looked yet—have the grades come out?"
"You really are—can't say you don't care just because your grades are good!"
"How am I not caring?"
She really did care, and was thinking about the scholarship, but she had only just gotten over her grandmother's matter and hadn't had time to check her grades.
"The grades have been out for several days, okay? Do you want to check them yourself, or should I just tell you?"
Yu Ke asked.
"Just tell me."
"Guess first."
"I won't guess."
Liuli reached for her phone to check her grades herself.
"Can't I just tell you? First place!"
Yu Ke hurriedly said.
Liuli's heart eased; thus the scholarship might still be attainable.
"Can't you let someone else be first place once?"
"Who would that be?"
"Like me!" Yu Ke raised her eyebrows.
Liuli laughed upon hearing that—not mocking Yu Ke, but because Yu Ke's grades were not just slightly poor; she always ranked at the bottom.
"How come? You look down on me?"
"No, I believe you; next time you'll be first place."
"And she's supposed to be first place?"
Cheng Li stepped in to add a cutting remark.
"What's wrong with me?"
"What's wrong with you? You're not even as good as me."
"Hey!"
Yu Ke saw Cheng Li's smug look and was about to explode with anger.
"Liuli, you rein him in!"
Liuli merely glared at Cheng Li, and Cheng Li went to the side.
Still, my Liuli is formidable.
Yu Ke put an arm around Liuli's shoulder.
Seeing that, Cheng Li felt really unpleasant.
Before, only he could be this close with Liuli, but now she is that close with someone else.
Friendship can also be jealous.
At night, however, more and more people came, most of them girls, and they even took photos with their phones.
Look, being handsome is still useful.
Yu Ke whispered in Liuli's ear.
The girls who came stared straight at Cheng Li and Bai Xu, as if they had forgotten this was a barbecue restaurant, only caring about taking photos and not ordering food.
Then which one do you like?
I think he's not bad.
Yu Ke looked at Bai Xu, who was greeting the customers.
Seeing Liuli laugh, Yu Ke then realized Liuli was just probing her.
His name is Bai Xu.
Who cares what his name is!
Fine, I don't care—look, those two girls are asking him for his WeChat!
What does it have to do with me!
I'm just letting you know.
Liuli laughed.
Hello, what do you need?
Yu Ke still couldn't help but go and block Bai Xu's way.
Can I add your WeChat?
The two girls who wanted WeChat were still talking to Bai Xu.
No thanks.
Yu Ke didn't expect Bai Xu to refuse so straightforwardly.
The two girls left embarrassedly, and Yu Ke didn't forget to roll her eyes at them.
Hearing you call Liuli 'sister-in-law', since you're close with Liuli, that means you're close with me—let's be friends!
Yu Ke said to Bai Xu, and Bai Xu nodded.
Then let's add WeChat first!
Okay.
As soon as Bai Xu agreed, Yu Ke took out her phone, eager.
She didn't expect Bai Xu to be so easy to persuade, and just like that she added his WeChat.
She really has no resistance to handsome guys, loving every one she sees.
If you want to call her fickle, she's quite famous for it.
The weather itself was hot, and it was even hotter by the barbecue grill; Liuli, in charge of grilling, was already drenched in sweat.
Cheng Li was helping her on the side, and he was also hot to the point of being unbearable.
Yu Ke and Bai Xu were responsible for serving dishes and wiping tables; all four were busy.
Uncle also didn't bother them, not saying a word, not caring how their barbecue tasted; he just felt this kind of life was wonderful, and he hadn't felt this relaxed in a long time.
It wasn't until after ten that the customers mostly left, and they should close the shop.
The four of them had no time to chat, just busy cleaning up the shop.
Soon, the shop was spotless.
All four were too tired to speak.
How about it, kids, are you tired today?
Uncle laughed loudly.
Not tired at all!
Yu Ke replied, pretending not to be tired.
Cheng Li said nothing, obviously with so many people helping it was already enough to tire him out, yet he didn't know how Uncle managed to do it alone.
Really?
Then you should come often from now on!
Uncle was joking with Yu Ke.
Good! If Liuli comes, I'll come!
Yu Ke answered in agreement, then looked toward Liuli.
So it's settled? Liuli asked, she really didn't know how long Yu Ke would persist.
Of course!
Cheng Li was watching Bai Xu play games on the side, and didn't hear what they said; otherwise he would have thought Liuli was fickle.
Liuli rested for a while before remembering the phone Gu Die gave her today.
The phone is new; he bought it for her after seeing her phone was broken.
It contained his phone number, as well as all the photos from her previous phone.
Seeing the photos on the phone, she was touched by his thoughtfulness.
There was only one contact on the phone, labeled 'Gu Die'.
Just as he thought of Gu Die, he came to pick her up.
As soon as Gu Die arrived at the barbecue restaurant, he saw Bai Xu playing a game.
"Are you done?"
He asked Liuli.
"Done."
As soon as Bai Xu heard that voice, he didn't dare to play the game; yet somehow he happened to be seen by him playing games, whereas when he was working, he wasn't seen.
He didn't even dare to look at Gu Die's sharp gaze.
"Today totally wore me out!"
Bai Xu couldn't avoid Gu Die's gaze, so he said something, but then didn't know what to say.
"I just finished my work and then played a game for a while." Seeing Gu Die not speaking, he continued explaining, while giving Liuli a look.
"He did a lot today; without him we wouldn't be able to keep up."
Liuli understood Bai Xu's meaning and then helped explain.
"How come he's like your dad?"
Cheng Li glanced at Bai Xu and asked.
"You don't know his temper; I'm so smart, I wouldn't provoke him!"
Bai Xu whispered to Cheng Li.
"Like this?"
"Of course!"
"Let's go back."
Gu Die said to Liuli, Bai Xu, having escaped disaster, secretly let out a sigh of relief.
"Hmm."
"Yu Ke, why don't we send you home first?"
Liuli said to Yu Ke.
"I'll have someone come pick me up later, you don't need to worry." Yu Ke didn't want to be a third wheel.
"Then I'm leaving."
"Okay."
"Sister-in-law, don't worry about me, hurry back with Gu Die."
Before Liuli could ask, Bai Xu shamelessly said.
"Uncle, I'm going back now, please rest early."
"Okay."
Since then, Uncle has taken a dislike to Gu Die; seeing him is like seeing a plague god, and he wishes he would leave quickly.
Just thinking about Liuli being with someone like him, while he has nothing to offer Liuli, he gets a bit angry at himself.
Seeing Liuli and Gu Die leave, Yu Ke called her family's driver.
Cheng Li was rather unhappy; sometimes Liuli wouldn't even ask him anything.
Although he lives nearby, it's not to the extent that she wouldn't ask him at all.
Soon after, Yu Ke's family's driver arrived.
"Uncle, I'm leaving! Goodbye!"
"Okay! Come play again when you have time!"
Just as Yu Ke was about to close the door, Cheng Li and Bai Xu got into the car.
"Give me a ride along the way."
Cheng Li said.
"Me too."
Bai Xu laughed.
"You two! Really!"
Yu Ke was already speechless toward the two of them.
"How was today?"
In the car, Gu Die asked Liuli; he only takes the initiative with her, and with others he is indifferent.
"Not bad." Liuli, who was facing the window and feeling the breeze, looked at Gu Die, his profile reflected in her eyes.
"Thank you for buying me a new phone."
"Of course."
Was he saying that because he broke her phone, or that as her husband buying her a phone is expected?
She was only thinking about these things.
"From now on, stay away from Shen Zeyan; it's best not to meet."
His tone left no room for refusal.
"Can you stay away from your flowers and plants a bit?"
Liuli said dissatisfiedly, 'How come he himself flirts with flowers every day, yet won't let her make new friends?'
"If you want, I can."
"I don't want to, I don't want to manage you, and you shouldn't interfere with me either."
"Except for him, Shen Zeyan, that's not allowed."
After parking, Gu Die leaned against her side and said.
She didn't ask why he couldn't; she pushed him away and got out of the car.
She did indeed have a good impression of Shen Zeyan—gentle and considerate—but it seemed he and the Gu Family really had some kind of generational feud.
In front of Ze Yan, she had no sense of propriety left.
