Chapter 29: Chapter Twenty-Nine: No Matter How Many Times You Ask, I Am His Wife
Gu Die knew that besides his Gu Qing, no one would give the company to someone else, but taking over the company was not what he wanted.
Of course, it was also not something he could choose.
"Why?"
Gu Qing asked, although Gu Die had always been opposing him, usually being immature was fine, but this matter he had no right to choose.
"I don't want to."
"Do you think you can choose?" Gu Qing looked at Gu Die, his tone both gentle and threatening.
"Today's meeting is over, thank you everyone."
Gu Qing bowed to those present, then walked away with the secretary beside him.
Everyone also returned the bow.
After everyone left, Gu Die remained seated; he didn't leave, and she also didn't feel good leaving.
"Why don't you want to take over the company?"
She broke the silence and asked.
"This is not what I want."
What he wants is not money and status, but to spend a lifetime with the person he loves, just like ordinary people.
Even if he had no money, he still wanted this life.
He looked at her, he saw stars in her dark brown pupils, she saw the universe in his cool brown pupils.
Thus they stared at each other for a long time.
"Young Master, there is a document you need to look at."
A young woman knocked on the unclosed door and called out softly.
The woman looked, she seemed only one or two years older than her.
The women around Gu Die were also truly many, and they were all great beauties.
"Okay."
Gu Die got up, finished the document, Liuli still followed behind him, the woman followed beside Gu Die and walked shoulder to shoulder with him.
She hadn't walked shoulder to shoulder with him before, had she? She inevitably felt a bit uncomfortable, feeling like a lightbulb tagging along behind.
Arriving at the office, he sat in front of the desk looking at documents, the assistant stood beside him.
He didn't pay attention to her; she sat in a chair by the window, finding a spot as far from them as possible.
This is the sixteenth floor; the world below is fully visible.
Gu Die actually had no mood to look at documents; usually he'd just glance once or twice, think it's fine, and sign, but today the document in his hand lingered without being put down.
"Young Master, is there a problem?"
Seeing he hadn't signed for such a long time, the assistant asked.
"No." He then came to his senses and signed.
Liuli was still looking out the window, looking and looking, she saw a familiar figure downstairs.
From the sixteenth floor she could tell, that black long curly hair had to be Feng Wei.
It seemed she was coming again to find Gu Die; this woman was quite smart, coming to the company to find him, she could both avoid her and not be rejected by him.
At the company he still had to give Feng Wei face.
Of course Liuli didn't think that either; the last time Gu Die had publicly kissed Feng Wei, who knows if he actually has feelings for Feng Wei.
Liuli also felt fortunate she happened to be here; from now on she'd have to come every day, lest Gu Die someday give her a green hat without her knowing.
"How are you here?"
Feng Wei came to the office, saw her and asked.
"You can come, but I can't?"
Liuli retorted.
"What are you?"
"Such a childish question, can you stop asking? No matter how many times you ask, I am his wife."
Seeing the two in this situation, the assistant tactfully left.
Gu Die just quietly listened to their conversation.
"You're truly shameless!"
"Are you shameless or am I? You've run up to this floor more than once, right?"
While saying this, Liuli didn't forget to look at Gu Die; of course these words were also meant for him to hear.
"Do I need your permission to come? I was originally his fiancée; who knows where you came from?!"
"What was, was; what is, is."
Liuli also couldn't understand how she and Feng Wei ended up arguing over Gu Die, while Gu Die himself said nothing.
"Gu Die, don't you have anything to say?"
Seeing Gu Die watch them argue heatedly yet remain indifferent, Liuli asked.
"What do I have to say? What do you want me to say?"
He turned the question back on her.
"Then when you're together, be careful, after all everyone outside knows I'm your wife; as long as you don't get caught giving me a green hat, you can do whatever."
Liuli said that and left; staying another second in this place would make her unable to breathe.
Gu Die himself saw her and Feng Wei arguing over him, he was actually quite pleased, though he didn't show it.
The next second her words were like her slapping him hard.
She and Feng Wei argued; hearing those words, he thought she cared about him, but he didn't expect she just didn't want people to see that he and Feng Wei were giving her a green hat.
The only thing she cares about is her face.
"Die, what's the point of keeping a woman like her by your side?"
Feng Wei saw Liuli leave and then said to Gu Die.
"Little Wei, you know I've always regarded you as a sister."
"I've said it many times, I don't want to be your sister." A tear flickered in Feng Wei's eyes. "Can't you give me a chance?"
"You know it's impossible, don't waste your time on me."
"What about Chu Liuli? Do you really have her in your heart or not?"
Gu Die didn't answer; he couldn't say he loved her, nor could he say he didn't.
But Feng Wei understood—he loved her; given his nature, he would either directly say love or directly say not love, so you can't tell whether he actually loves her or not.
But his silence shows he's seriously thinking about it, taking it seriously.
Feng Wei held back tears and ran out.
She had spent so long and still couldn't get even a foothold in his heart, yet Chu Liuli, in less than a month, made him place her in his heart.
She couldn't understand how Chu Liuli, who was inferior to her in every way—family background, looks—could so easily enter his world.
"Liuli, where are you?"
Liuli had just left the company when Zi Han called her.
"I'm at the company."
"Which company?"
"Gu Clan."
Zi Han had been wondering if it might be the Gu Clan, and Liuli's answer made her entirely excited.
"Who let you go?"
"Can't I come on my own?"
Liuli countered.
"Of course you can! Being able to enter the Gu Clan is impressive—it shows they now regard you as one of their own!"
Zi Han was saying this excitedly on Liuli's behalf.
"I don't want to be treated as a member of the Gu Clan!"
"Liuli, don't think that way—my cousin may have a bad temper, but he's still a decent person."
"What's good about it? All he does is fool around with other women every day."
Liuli said irritably.
"You're just jealous, aren't you?"
Zi Han's laughter came from the other end of the phone.
"Those are all fake; he only has you in his heart!"
"What I saw with my own eyes could still be fake?!"
"What you see isn't necessarily true!"
"Never mind that—just tell me how you were yesterday!"
Liuli got into the car while still on the phone; the sun outside was really strong.
"Me? It's not convenient to say now; I'll tell you tonight when I get back."
"Alright, are you at the barbecue place now?"
"Yes, do you want to come?"
"I'll come over then."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Liuli focused on driving.
Arriving at the barbecue restaurant, she saw many people bustling about, and the crowd was far larger than before—who knows how many times more.
The people Gu Die had summoned were all young, handsome guys.
Most importantly, they were both handsome and capable; Yu Ke, watching them from the side, was practically drooling over their muscles.
Bai Xu could only stand in front of her to block her view, but with so many people, he could block her from seeing this one but not that one.
"Liuli, you weren't supposed to come today, were you?"
Cheng Li saw Liuli arrive and stepped forward to ask.
Zi Han also came over, smiling.
"I originally had something to do, but now I've finished and just came over to take a look."
"Isn't she Gu Die's cousin? Doesn't Gu Die look after her?"
Cheng Li glanced at Zi Han, then asked Liuli again; Zi Han hastily gave Liuli a look.
"Gu Die is so busy every day—where would he find the time to look after her?"
"Then the Gu Clan is so big—can't you just bring her back?"
Cheng Li said this without even trying to avoid Zi Han.
He had practically been driven crazy by Zi Han the night before.
Zi Han secretly made a dissatisfied expression.
"I forgot yesterday."
Liuli laughed.
"How can someone so big forget?!"
Cheng Li questioned, now feeling that the two of them were in cahoots.
"Liuli, come quick! Every single one is a handsome guy!" Yu Ke saw Liuli and pulled her over to look at the handsome guys.
Zihan didn't see any of those people; her eyes were only on Cheng Li.
"Do you think this young guy is handsome?"
Yu Ke gestured with her eyes for her to look at a guy with thick brows and big eyes.
"Pretty handsome."
"Handsome, right? I think so too!"
"But Bai Xu is the most handsome!"
"Don't have designs on Bai Xu!" Liuli blurted out unexpectedly, scaring Yu Ke into thinking she had feelings for Bai Xu.
"Why? You still don't have feelings for him?"
"Who said I don't have feelings for him!"
"Then why are you still here looking at others?"
"I'm just looking, and none of them catch my eye!"
"You mean only Bai Xu can catch your eye, right?"
"Not exactly! Maybe half-way!"
"If you keep looking, Bai Xu will be snatched away by another woman."
Liuli watched Bai Xu being surrounded by a bunch of girls, then glanced at Yu Ke.
"Who made him so handsome! Really annoying!"
Yu Ke said it in a humblebrag way, and Liuli almost spat blood from hearing it.
"What are you doing? This is my boyfriend."
Yu Ke rushed into the crowd of girls to rescue Bai Xu.
Bai Xu, hearing her speak so confidently, was a bit stunned.
"Ah? You have a girlfriend?"
"What a pity!"
The girls could only sigh and walk away.
"Thank me, okay?"
Yu Ke crossed her arms over her chest, lifted her head, and said.
"Thanks."
Yu Ke didn't expect Bai Xu to actually thank her.
"What's there to be polite about!"
Yu Ke laughed.
"Uncle, you're in a particularly good mood today!"
Liuli saw Uncle lying on the rocking chair, still humming a little tune.
"You're not busy today? How do you have time to come over?"
Uncle asked.
"I'll come over once I'm done."
"When did you make so many new friends?"
Uncle smiled so wide his mouth almost couldn't close; he was happy for Liuli.
"How about it, Uncle? My social connections are good, right?"
