Chapter 95: Let Him Never Forget
Gu Die and Liuli were in the car, not knowing whose phone rang.
Liuli recognized it as her own phone ringtone, so she wanted to push Gu Die aside to answer the call.
But Gu Die wouldn't let go of her no matter what, and didn't care who was calling.
"Let me answer the phone first..."
Liuli said, but Gu Die didn't hear her at all; he now didn't want anyone else to disturb them.
Liuli finally managed to get her phone, saw it was Ze Yan calling, and she couldn't possibly not answer his call.
That's just how she is with Ze Yan; she herself doesn't know why.
Liuli had no choice but to push Gu Die aside and go answer the phone.
Gu Die was very curious whose call it was that made her so eager to answer.
"Ze Yan ge, is something up?"
After Liuli connected the call and asked, Gu Die, upon hearing it was Ze Yan, wanted to throw her phone away.
It turned out she was in such a hurry because she wanted to answer his call.
"Liuli, do you have time?"
Ze Yan asked.
"Yes."
Liuli almost answered instinctively; when it came to Ze Yan, she simply wouldn't say no.
She always felt she had seen Ze Yan before, and also felt she couldn't refuse him.
Liuli also found this feeling strangely inexplicable.
She and Cheng Li are friends, but with Ze Yan she has a feeling that isn't quite like friendship.
But she also knows that the person she loves is Gu Die, and her heart holds only him.
But her feeling toward Ze Yan is different.
"Then I'll come find you."
"Okay."
Liuli agreed without thinking, even forgetting that Gu Die was beside her.
She knows she is now his wife and shouldn't get too close to other guys, but she just wants to understand Ze Yan, just as she wants to understand Gu Die.
She always feels that her familiarity with Ze Yan is different.
Just as she also wants to see Mrs. Chu and Mr. Chu more, she also wants to see Ze Yan more.
In her mind she seems to have tried hard to recall their appearance, but in the end it remains blurry.
Forgetting the person she shouldn't forget, the harder she tries to remember, the more she can't.
"Whose call was it?"
Gu Die clearly knew it was Ze Yan, but still wanted to ask; he just wanted to know.
Only then did Liuli remember that Gu Die was still beside her.
"It's Ze Yan; can I go?"
Gu Die heard that she had already agreed earlier, and now she was asking him, making him feel a surge of annoyance.
"You already agreed, didn't you?"
Gu Die coldly retorted.
Clearly Liuli knows that Ze Yan and Gu Die have a bad relationship, even like enemies.
As his wife, why does she still want to see him?
Moreover, Ze Yan kidnapped her last time; why does she still want to see him?
And the way she looked at him when she held Ze Yan, he can't forget either.
It's as if he has always been an extraneous person.
He wants to know whether there is a place for him in her heart.
He feels that as long as it involves Ze Yan, he is the extra one.
"I... there's nothing between me and him; he just has something to ask me."
Liuli explained.
"What's up? Do you want to come see me tonight?"
"It's still pretty early now, not too late."
"Go ahead, I'll pick you up later."
Gu Die could see that Liuli really wanted to go, so he didn't say anything more.
"Okay, husband, I love you."
Liuli hugged Gu Die again and said.
Gu Die saw her walking away looking happy, his inner annoyance grew, but he still endured and said nothing.
After Liuli walked away, she sent Ze Yan a location, and he arrived quickly.
"Ze Yan ge, what do you need from me?"
After getting in the car, Liuli asked.
"Uncle and Auntie want to see you; I wanted to ask if you have time to meet them."
Liuli immediately realized that the "uncle and auntie" Ze Yan referred to were Mr. Chu and Mrs. Chu.
"Now?"
"Yes, I can tell they really want to see you, so I..."
"Then let's go."
Liuli almost blurted out the second half of the sentence; she also wanted to hear what they would say.
"Okay, they'll definitely be happy to see you."
Ze Yan laughed, and seeing his smile, Liuli felt satisfied, though she didn't know why.
"Uncle, Aunt… I've hardly met you before, so why would you be happy?"
Liuli always felt it was strangely odd to call them uncle and aunt.
Ze Yan pondered for a moment, then understood Liuli's question.
"They think you're warm—that is, they like you; they liked you at first sight."
What Ze Yan said probably also applied to himself.
When he first saw her, he also liked her, but besides Si Yun, he didn't want to develop feelings for anyone else.
"Is it because I resemble Si Yun?"
Liuli asked curiously, she really didn't like people liking her just because she resembled Si Yun.
As for Gu Die, she also didn't want him to like her only because she resembled Si Yun.
As for Ze Yan, she also didn't want him to approach her and be friends just because she resembled Si Yun.
The same went for Mr. and Mrs. Chu; she hoped they liked her for herself, as Chu Liuli, not as Chu Si Yun.
"I've told them already—you and Si Yun are not alike."
Ze Yan replied, he also understood what Liuli was thinking, and wanted to tell her that it wasn't because she resembled Si Yun that they liked her.
"How do they feel?"
Liuli asked, she just wanted to know—about all the questions, especially how Mr. and Mrs. Chu felt about her.
She felt it would be wonderful if they were truly her parents.
If she weren't Si Yun, she might also envy such parents.
An inexplicable sense of warmth, wanting to get close to them.
"They just feel they like you—specifically, they like Chu Liuli."
Ze Yan explained again.
"Ze Yan bro, do I really resemble her or not?"
Ze Yan knew who Liuli's "she" referred to, but he didn't know how to tell her.
Mr. and Mrs. Chu had never said Liuli resembled Si Yun; they simply liked Liuli plainly.
"She resembles her, yet she doesn't."
Although Ze Yan had told Liuli before, he still patiently answered her questions.
He knew she would certainly be curious, since someone thought she resembled another person, so she would surely want to know what that person looked like.
If someone said he resembled another person, he would also be curious about what that look-alike was like.
"Your tastes may differ, but the feeling you give me actually lets me recall her."
Upon hearing Ze Yan's words, Liuli didn't know whether she felt happy or unhappy.
He had waited for Si Yun for so many years, yet he never got to see her.
If one said he saw Si Yun in her, that would also be nice for Ze Yan.
She wouldn't think it bad to feel she resembled Si Yun, since at least Ze Yan could get a glimpse of that feeling.
So she felt quite happy, yet also regretful, because she wasn't Si Yun.
If she were Si Yun, and if she hadn't met Gu Die, she would surely be with Ze Yan.
She didn't know why, but that's how she felt.
"Letting you recall her is also nice."
Liuli looked at Ze Yan and said, thinking of how long he had waited for Si Yun, she would feel heartbroken for him.
"But I don't want to recall her."
He would inevitably recall Si Yun, couldn't help thinking of her.
But after each recollection, upon realizing Si Yun was gone, an empty feeling in his heart would arise, over and over.
He didn't want to have this feeling, yet he still did; even if he tried not to recall Si Yun, her face would still appear.
Although, her face remained as it was in childhood.
He had also imagined countless times what Si Yun would look like if she were still alive, how she would have grown.
In his mind, her childhood image had already become blurred and indistinct.
As for her later appearance, he couldn't imagine it at all; there was always an unseen silhouette that frequently appeared in his mind.
It made him unable to forget her.
Later, when he felt Liuli resembled Si Yun, that mental silhouette gradually became clear.
It turned into Liuli's likeness.
He never allowed himself to rest even for a moment; although his family was wealthy and he had nothing to worry about, he still refused to stop.
Because if he stopped, he would think of Si Yun.
But he also didn't want to recall Si Yun, because recollection was pointless.
Only he knew how painful it was.
"If we don't want to recall, we won't; we won't dwell on unhappy things."
Liuli comforted him.
"Okay."
Ze Yan replied, beneath his silver-gray hair, those eyes still exuded a sense of sorrow.
Liuli gazed at him, feeling she really wanted to do something to keep him from being so sorrowful, yet she herself could do nothing.
Upon arriving at the Chu Family, Mrs. Chu and Mr. Chu saw Liuli and Ze Yan and hurriedly went to greet them.
Mrs. Chu was very happy—not only had Ze Yan come twice in one day, but she had also brought Liuli.
"Ze Yan, Liuli, have you eaten?"
Mrs. Chu walked ahead of Mr. Chu, and upon seeing Ze Yan and Liuli she hurriedly asked, afraid they might leave in the next second.
Sometimes when Ze Yan was in a bad mood, he would just rush in to take a quick look at Mrs. Chu and Mr. Chu before getting back to work.
So Mrs. Chu always makes sure to keep Ze Yan for a meal first, so he can stay a bit.
"No."
Ze Yan replied.
Liuli was still thinking about how to answer, and she was actually seriously considering the question.
Because just now she and Yu Ke had eaten hot pot, but she had only eaten a little, and she doesn't like eating it.
Then she and Gu Die were preparing to go eat something else, when Ze Yan called her again.
So this meal counts as both eaten and not eaten—she wasn't really full.
"Then stay for dinner—I'll cook myself."
Mrs. Chu said happily.
"Okay, Auntie, thank you for your hard work. I haven't eaten your cooking in a long time—this time it's thanks to Liuli."
Ze Yan joked, "Because last time Mrs. Chu was thinking that if Liuli came again, she would personally cook and make some food for her."
"Thank you, Auntie!" Seeing Ze Yan thank her, Liuli also hurriedly thanked, "I'm able to eat Auntie's cooking thanks to you."
"You come every day, and I'll cook for you every day!"
Mrs. Chu answered with a smile.
"Exactly, Ze Yan—if you often bring Liuli next time, I'll be able to enjoy Auntie's cooking again thanks to you."
Chu Feng spoke.
