Chapter 68: 68
68 "Left, see you after a while."
Just then she had been worrying about that person's injury, so because she was distracted, the paper cutter in her hand cut her hand.
Fortunately she reacted in time, so it wasn't particularly serious; she just nicked herself and bled a little.
Afraid of getting blood on the yellow paper, she spent a little time staunching the bleeding, which caused the delay.
"Um, how about..."
Fang Qingyi's words were interrupted by a sigh from Tushan Jiu.
Tushan Jiu looked at her and said gently, "It's fine, I still need to go to Trade City to buy some other things; take your time cutting, no rush."
After saying that, she called out to the boss, "How much? I'll pay first and come pick it up later."
The boss stated the price, and she scanned the code to pay.
After paying, she thought and asked Fang Qingyi, "Want to add as friends? Send me a message when you're done."
Fang Qingyi immediately nodded, pulled out her phone and opened the scan function, "Okay, I'll scan you, thank you for your understanding, thanks so much."
Tushan Jiu tapped a few times, pulled up her friend code, "No problem."
Ding!
After the friend request was added, Tushan Jiu asked her, "What's your name? I'll make a note."
Fang Qingyi blinked in surprise.
Tushan Jiu smiled and explained, "I can't just note you as the funeral shop staff; that would be rude."
Fang Qingyi's face flushed, she pursed her lips, "My name is Fang Qingyi: Fang as in upright, Qing as in clear, Yi as in suitable."
Tushan Jiu tapped a few times to finish the note, then introduced herself: "I'm Tushan Jiu, I'll be going now."
The boss hurriedly laughed and saw Tushan Jiu off, then urged Fang Qingyi, who was still standing there: "Get back to work! You're lucky to have met someone so easygoing!"
Before entering the shop, Fang Qingyi unconsciously glanced at Tushan Jiu's back, a flash of gratitude crossing her eyes.
Inside Trade City it was even livelier than outside.
There were also plenty of people strolling inside.
Tushan Jiu had originally planned to buy what she needed and leave, but now she decided to wander around a bit first.
She didn't let Wu Shuoyue follow her, knowing this place was near his mother's home, so she let him go home to visit his mother.
After wandering for about forty minutes, Tushan Jiu bought a lot, and she bought them in various styles.
Because she discovered that the nail clippers here came in many cute little animal shapes.
So she bought one box of each of the twelve zodiac animals, twelve boxes in total.
Because she bought so much, the store offered a free delivery service.
Tushan Jiu told the boss the address.
The boss looked at her several times and said, "Are you sure this is the address?"
Tushan Jiu nodded.
The boss didn't say anything else, just stole a few more glances at her.
He was a local of Nan Cheng, and upon hearing the address he knew it was the residence of the richest family in Nan Cheng, the Xie Family.
He wondered why the Xie Family would buy so many nail clippers.
Tushan Jiu noticed the boss stealing glances at her, but she didn't mind.
Her phone chimed; she glanced at it and saw a message from Fang Qingyi saying the yellow paper she wanted was ready.
She replied, "Okay, got it, I'll be over shortly."
Tushan Jiu looked up and asked the boss, "Boss, where is there a pharmacy around here?"
"There's a pharmacy inside Trade City; go out, turn left, go to the end, then turn right and you'll see it."
Tushan Jiu thanked him and then left.
Fang Qingyi packed up the items, then continued with her work, doing it while waiting for Tushan Jiu to come pick them up.
The boss went to the neighboring shop to chat with someone, so she was alone in the store.
Actually, she had been doing this for many years and was quite skilled; today she was just a bit slow because she had something on her mind.
But after what just happened, she didn't allow herself to drift off again; she focused and quickly finished today's work.
She straightened her back, picked up her water cup to take a sip, but accidentally kicked the cremation urn sample on the floor beside her; she looked down, her pupils constricted, and the hand holding the cup trembled.
She closed her eyes, took a big gulp of water, her cheeks puffed out, then she swallowed hard.
She capped the cup, took a deep breath, opened her eyes, and set about righting the cremation urn.
What Tushan Jiu saw through the glass shop door was exactly this scene.
She helplessly shook her head and murmured, "It's fine, just wait a bit longer; you'll reap rewards after hardship, and later your sister-in-law will look out for you!"
After muttering that, she then pushed open the shop door.
Fang Qingyi looked up and saw it was Tushan Jiu; she quickly straightened her back, put on a smile, and said, "Miss Tushan, you've come; I've packed the items for you—let me know if they're correct."
She lifted the items from the table over, saying, "Take a look; if they're correct, I'll help you bring them to the car so you don't have to touch them."
Tushan Jiu took them, but then put them back on the table and, with a backhand, pulled Fang Qingyi's hand.
Fang Qingyi looked at her, puzzled, not knowing what she intended to do, "You..."
From the bag in her hand she pulled out an iodine cotton swab and a box of cartoon little sheep band-aids.
Tushan Jiu tore open the packaging, snapped off one end of the cotton swab, and the medicine quickly soaked the other end.
Only then did Fang Qingyi notice that she was holding a small medicine bag in her hand.
Was she going to apply medicine to herself?
Suddenly, she recalled that earlier, when they were outside, she seemed to have glanced several times at her hand.
Tushan Jiu didn't explain either; she simply took the tissue that Fang Qingyi had loosely tied around her wound, opened it, tossed it in the trash, and then gently disinfected her wound.
"Your wound looks small, but it's quite deep; try not to soak it in water these few days, otherwise if it gets infected it'll be troublesome. You got cut by a knife, right?"
"Her extremely gentle tone and actions had already left Fang Qingyi standing there, dazed."
"I just thought this girl was nice, but I never expected her to be this good!"
"Besides that person, no one around her had ever been so patient in showing her kindness."
"But why?"
"They only just met today!"
"Tushan Jiu didn't hear her reply, but she didn't mind; she carefully applied the band-aid, smiled at her, and said frankly:"
"Are you wondering why I bought you medicine?"
"Fang Qingyi slowly nodded."
"Tushan Jiu also didn't hide it: 'I won't be good to someone for no reason; I got to know you through someone, and we'll have many chances to meet in the future.'"
"She placed the medicine bag on the table, then lightly picked up the stack of yellow paper and cinnabar on the table, and said:"
"However, after meeting you, I've realized I really like you; you're very strong, and even if you're in darkness, you still strive toward the light, but don't worry—these are only temporary."
"Fang Qingyi was completely bewildered, her misty fox eyes full of a dazed look."
"Tushan Jiu waved at her, saying, 'I'm off; we'll meet after a while.'"
