Chapter 1009 - 1017: No Such Thing
The guard team saw Jane Sampson’s message, and James Black’s mouth twitched.
Was she pretending to be confused, or did she truly not understand?
The young wife always had a way of annoying him in spurts.
Jane had wanted to ask how soon "very soon" was, but in the end, she held back the question.
After Jane finished her makeup with Coco Edwards, they left the makeup room just in time to run into Thomas Forest coming out from the next door. Jane had a lot of scenes with Thomas Forest today, so they decided to find a spot and rehearse their lines to get into character before James Chip called for action.
Once Thomas sat down, Coco brewed a cup of honey chrysanthemum tea for him and Jane. Thomas thanked her, accepting the tea with a smile, "Jane, do you have a particular fondness for chrysanthemum tea?"
"Not at all," Jane shook her head, "I like eating ice cream, I like drinking milk tea with lots of ice, I like cold drinks."
If Coco weren’t watching, Jane would have already sneaked some for herself.
Hearing Jane’s candid response, Thomas was stunned for a second, then burst out laughing, "Many girls like cold drinks, but they’re not good for your health if you have too much. Had I not asked, I really would’ve thought you were a different, more health-conscious girl."
With that, Thomas took a sip of his tea and sighed, "Entering this film set, thanks to you, I’ve been drinking tea every day. I haven’t felt the dryness of autumn this year, and my throat feels a lot more comfortable even speaking so much."
Thomas was truly a blend of rough manliness and delicate boyishness, a contradiction. His assistants were both boys, and not as detail-oriented as a girl like Coco. That’s why, before, when Thomas filmed, he often ended the day parched and thirsty. "As an actor like you, Brother Forest, you should take more care of yourself. You work hard and are under much stress. You can’t change some things, but you can always change what you eat and drink. That’s the least you should change," Coco lectured earnestly, "After you’re done with your scenes, come here and drink more chrysanthemum tea. Little Jane may not have much, but she does have tea."
Thomas curved the corner of his mouth into a smile, took a couple of sips to moisten his throat, and then he started rehearsing lines with Jane.
When James Chip came to call them personally, he saw how diligent and self-motivated the two were; his old face creased into a beaming smile of pride. "If every actor in the crew was like you two, it would save me so much trouble," he remarked, then gestured for them to get ready for the scene.
Though Jane didn’t come from a drama school background, her acting skills pleased James Chip, except for the occasional need for him to explain some detail. Jane often delivered a performance that satisfied him.
Watching the delightful pair, James Chip thought to himself, "Back then, when I read on the internet that Jane Sampson’s acting might even be better than some classically trained actresses, I decided to pay special attention to her.
I can safely say, this girl has not disappointed me.
Every time I check on her after a while, I find she has become even better. It’s clear she’s constantly learning and improving, unlike some who think it’s all right to stop trying once their popularity and fame have peaked."
