Chapter 1022 - 1030: It Can Only Be This Person

~4 min read 622 words

"Grandparents always told me not to waste food," Jane Sampson sighed. "I can restrain myself."

The Sampton Family never lacked food or clothes, their family wealth was substantial, and the Black Family was even more affluent. However, Jane had been taught not to waste food indiscriminately since she was young.

Therefore, with Peter Gingery absent, Jane forced herself to eat the egg white.

"By the way, you called me early in the morning," she said. "Surely you weren’t calling just to ask if I had eaten breakfast, right? Coco Edwards, that traitor, would tell you about such a small thing every evening anyway. Do you really need to ask me directly?" Although Jane did not mind, it did not mean she was unaware that Coco had turned towards James Black.

Whether she ate well or rested well every day at the film and TV town, Coco would tell James about it.

"The information you asked me to look for has just come in," James said. "How did you meet this Mona Calm before?"

"I met her on Director Wilson’s film crew last time," Jane recounted. "Back then, I was living in a room at a rural schoolyard, and she was staying in the same courtyard with a few other minor roles. Remember when your comrade sent me a bag of fruits? It got thrown away later, and amidst so many people in that courtyard, it was Mona who came to comfort me."

Talking about it, Jane could not help but sigh. "I was really upset when the fruits were thrown away. So at the time, I felt quite grateful to Mona."

The subsequent interactions between Jane and Mona could be traced during the investigation.

Thus, James knew what had happened later.

Listening to James’s slightly heavy breathing over the phone, Jane’s voice gradually became much softer, and her mood shifted as well.

"What’s wrong?" she asked slowly and cautiously. "Is there a problem with her?"

"Yes," James did not hide it from Jane.

Of course, James knew that Jane had quite a few dealings with this Mona, who seemed to be one of the few friends Jane had made since entering the circle.

But James also knew that since Jane had initiated the request for him to check on Mona, Jane would surely be able to handle the answer, whether Mona was a demon or devil.

"I’ve got Mona’s information in my hands now," James said. "You could say that anything that can be traced has been found."

Jane uttered a sound of acknowledgment and, after a few seconds, asked slowly, "Her information... there’s something wrong with it?"

"The information isn’t wrong; what’s wrong is the person," James responded. "In looking into her, I unexpectedly found some other messages. Do you remember back when you were filming in the southland, the blogger who leaked that you had changed your assistant, and that your fruits were thrown away at the crew location, isolating you and claiming your character was bad and you were unpopular? Later on, I had someone contact this blogger, but they refused the money, saying they wanted to stick to their professional integrity and wouldn’t reveal where they got the messages."

At this, Jane bit her lip lightly, not daring to ask further or interrupt James’s words.

"Last night, while looking into Mona, I unexpectedly found out that she and that blogger are from the same hometown. More importantly, the two have been boyfriend and girlfriend since their second year of high school, and they haven’t split up to this day," James revealed. "I gave that studio so much money back then, and that person remained unmoved. But later, Kane Forest gave them money, and some issues were resolved then."
