Chapter 1033 - 1041 Knowing It by Heart
This was the first time Jane Sampson had encountered such a matter, so, leaving it to James Black, relieved her greatly.
"True, with your guy there, there’s definitely no need to worry." Coco Edwards nodded. "Sister Tin also said the company doesn’t even need to be involved; your guy says he’ll handle it all."
As they were talking, Jane Sampson’s mobile phone suddenly rang, and her eyebrows furrowed at the sight of the caller ID.
Coco Edwards saw Jane’s expression, glanced down at the phone, and let out a sigh as well.
"Do you want me to answer it for you and say you’re busy?" Coco Edwards saw the word ’mother’ on the caller ID and felt a headache on behalf of Jane.
Although she didn’t know much about Jane’s family affairs, Coco Edwards was aware that Jane and her family were not on good terms.
Seeing how Old Master Black behaved towards Jane when he visited the set, it seemed like Jane’s relationship with her husband’s family was significantly better.
"No need," Jane shook her head. "You can hide on the first day of the lunar month, but not on the fifteenth. When they come with a purpose, they’ll persistently keep calling."
After saying this, she then answered the phone.
The word ’mother’ hovered on her lips, but before she could utter it, she heard Mother Sampson’s voice on the other end.
"Jane, you’re not busy at the moment, are you?" Mother Sampson asked gently, her gaze occasionally shifting to Julie Sampson next to her, then said, "Why haven’t you come home for a meal recently? I had the driver deliver food to you, so why did you send it back?"
"It seems you’ve forgotten I can’t eat spicy food," Jane replied bluntly, not leaving much face for Mother Sampson.
Hearing Mother Sampson pause her breath on the other end, Jane let out a light snort of laughter, "So, I’m a bit puzzled, why during that period, you specifically had the driver deliver Julie’s lunch to me just to show me what it was."
"I..." Mother Sampson was taken aback by Jane’s straightforward reproach and reflexively began to apologize, "Jane, I’m sorry, it was an oversight on my part, you haven’t come home for a meal in so long, I’d forgotten your tastes."
"Is that so?" Jane didn’t bother to find any evasive words to cover for Mother Sampson, simply responding with a noncommittal counter-question.
As for whether it was true or not, the person answering the question knew in their heart.
Mother Sampson was at a loss for words. Julie Sampson felt contempt for her mother’s uselessness, not being able to handle even a foster daughter and constantly getting stung by her words.
"Mom, just tell her quickly." Julie Sampson gestured with her mouth, mouthing the name "Thomas Lancaster."
Mother Sampson then snapped back to reality, disregarding the previous topic entirely and directly spoke, "Jane, last time you weren’t happy about matching your sister with President Forest, but mom has been thinking, President Forest and your sister really aren’t suitable; the age difference is evident, and that’s something that can’t be changed."
Jane raised her eyebrows, the unpleasant words that crossed her mind, she was now too lazy to say.
Hearing that her mother wasn’t planning to continue insisting on her setting up a match between Julie and Kane Forest, Jane also heaved a sigh of relief.
Under no circumstances would she help with that.
But what Jane hadn’t expected was that although Mother Sampson disapproved of Kane Forest, she had her eye on someone else.
"Jane, you’re on quite good terms with Thomas Lancaster and the others; he’s been back in the country recently, and I went to inquire the other day and found out he’s started teaching at Capital Province University. At such a young age, he has a boundless future ahead, and most importantly, Thomas Lancaster doesn’t have a girlfriend. Jane, you’re best friends with them, could you set up a connection for your sister with Thomas Lancaster?"
