Chapter 1071 - 1079: 3 a.m. Extra Meal

~4 min read 792 words

Jane Sampson thought to herself that she really didn’t believe these two were also here just for a walk.

James Black’s gaze swept coldly over the two significantly annoying grinning faces.

What a coincidence?

To hell with coincidence!

"Wife, wait here for me for a while." James Black patted Jane Sampson’s shoulder, "Don’t go anywhere, just wait here, I’ll be right back."

Having said this, he handed the stuff he had in his hand to Jane Sampson to hold for a while, and before he even started walking, the two team members quickly said goodbye to Jane Sampson and ran off.

They reacted quickly, but James Black was also fast.

Jane Sampson watched as James Black caught up to them in just a few seconds and brought one person back toward the direction from where they had just come.

James Black didn’t even ask any questions, directly dragged the person to a corner at a bend in the road where he and Jane Sampson had first encountered people. When he got there, a large group of people was frantically running towards the dormitory as if fleeing for their lives.

James Black huffed a laugh, so, was he supposed to believe that if he hadn’t shown up, this whole group of over a hundred people would be hiding here waiting to "coincidentally" meet him and Jane Sampson?

"Chief... uh, we should also head back to the dormitory now." The expression of one of the team members still in James Black’s grasp was one of tearless sorrow, this unloyal group just ran off without anyone staying behind to save the two unlucky ones caught in the Chief’s clutches.

The people before had no problems, even able to chat cheerfully with the sister-in-law for ten minutes, so why was it so unlucky for them to get caught by the Chief?

When did the Chief realize they were lining up here?

James Black let go of his grip abruptly, which startled the two team members.

"Still not leaving? Standing here waiting for me to personally escort you to the dormitory?" James Black raised his eyebrows.

"Let’s go! Let’s go! We’re leaving now!" The two ran off, terrified they might get dragged back if they were even a second late.

They ran fast, so they did not see James Black standing in a dark corner of the wall pulling out his mobile phone to make a call.

"Liam Woody, Company One and Third Troop will have an extra meal at 3 a.m. for two hours. You arrange the details." After saying this, James Black hung up the phone without giving Liam Woody a chance to ask why.

These little rascals, dealing with them doesn’t even require him to step in personally.

If he doesn’t find them some lessons to remember, the next time Jane Sampson comes to the guard team, these dimwits would dare to act out another drama of a coincidental encounter.

After hanging up, James Black directly went back to find Jane Sampson. Seeing that Jane Sampson was still standing there swinging the bag she was holding without playing on her mobile phone, James Black involuntarily softened his steps as he approached her.

"Did you beat them up?" Jane Sampson asked tentatively as James Black returned, "Or just a hit each?"

"You knew?" James Black asked in surprise.

"If by ’you knew’ you mean knowing about the not-so-few people hiding at the corner, then yes, I knew." Jane Sampson nodded with a smile, "One after another, it seemed like as soon as one disappeared from our sight, another two would show up. It was clearly not a coincidence; it was clearly a lined-up act."

Jane Sampson had seen through it all along but didn’t speak of it; on the contrary, she found the team members quite amusing.

She liked the atmosphere of the guard team. Here, she could be herself, not the Jane Sampson from the screen. She didn’t have to wear a mask, and she could stand boldly beside James Black and talk to his subordinates.

This made her feel very relaxed.

And Jane Sampson could also see that those team members greatly respected her as James Black’s wife because of him.

"Looks like they aren’t too foolish." James Black took Jane Sampson’s hand again and complimented her, then he looked at the sky, worried that Jane might get tired, and observed her complexion before asking, "Ready to go back?"

Jane thought for a moment and nodded, "Okay."

Going back, she could take out the birthday gift she had prepared for James Black and give it to him. Truly, Jane Sampson was quite looking forward to seeing how James Black would react to this birthday gift.

Or rather, she was quite eagerly anticipating it.
