Chapter 1083 - 1091: Guessed Correctly
After finishing, Oliver Brownstone looked at his friend and asked, "Why do you seem so interested in James Black?"
"I’m not, just asking," the man replied, lifting his wine cup to clink with Oliver’s before tossing his head back to down a couple of sips.
Seeing that his friend didn’t ask further, Oliver assumed he was merely curious and had asked a couple more questions.
However, curiosity was futile, as Oliver himself didn’t know much about James Black either.
On Twitter, there was first a tweet by Rock Bell announcing he would sue Mona Calm, followed by Amber Edwards’s veiled insult tweeting at Mona Calm; in just a short while, all the comments on Twitter had shifted in favor of Jane Sampson.
Most people still believed that Mona Calm must hold a grudge against Jane for not forgiving her and causing her to be banned, which is why she deliberately slandered Jane.
And just like that, the issue was effortlessly resolved.
Therefore, when Jane later called James to talk about the incident, she managed to do so with a laugh.
Jane had handed all the studio’s affairs over to Rock Bell, so, recently, Rock had indeed been as busy as a spinning top, turning non-stop every day.
Jane was overwhelmed by many of the procedural matters, usually, Rock would bring over documents for her to sign, and after a cursory glance, she would sign them.
As time went on, one document after another made Jane’s head spin.
Time flew by in a flurry of busyness, passing as quickly as the blink of an eye.
Before she knew it, Friday had arrived.
Jane got up exceptionally early on Friday with her spirits high. She awoke very early that morning, and her work attitude was consistently good throughout the day.
It was as if she couldn’t feel the fatigue, busy until the sun set.
Jane didn’t have filming in the evening, so she finished work before 6 o’clock. She changed out of her costumes, and without even time to remove her makeup, dragged Coco Edwards back to the hotel.
Jane had intended to get back to the hotel early to remove her makeup and wait for James to find her, but what she hadn’t expected was that upon swiping her room card to enter, she found James already inside her room, organizing her stuff.
"Why are you just standing in the doorway? Aren’t you coming in?" James, having neatly folded some clothes and placed them into Jane’s wardrobe, turned his head to address the person standing silly and motionless in the doorway.
Jane then started moving, closing the door and walking in.
But after just two steps, she broke into a run, darting towards James, crashing straight into his arms, and wrapping her arms around his waist, her face eagerly nuzzling into his chest.
"Why did you come so early! And why didn’t you tell me you were here?" Jane complained with her mouth, but her eyes were brimming with laughter, "Also, how did you get into my room?"
"If I want to get in, naturally there are plenty of ways." James rubbed the top of Jane’s head with his hand, chuckling softly as he asked, "Are you happy to see me?"
"Not at all!" Jane instinctively retorted.
"You never say what you mean anyway; you barely speak a truth," James chuffed. "Running all the way over here, aren’t you happy?"
"Just a little bit," Jane admitted, pinching her fingers together to show ’just a little bit.’
"Just a little?" James arched an eyebrow. "Holding on so tight, could it be that since I dropped you off, you’ve been counting the days with your fingers until today?"
Jane’s expression froze on her face, stupefied.
Seeing that, a smile spread irresistibly across James’s face.
"So I guessed right?" This answer brought waves of delight to James’s heart, and he wrapped his arms around Jane’s waist, leaning down to kiss her on the lips.
