Chapter 1101 - 1109: Defying the Heavens

~3 min read 586 words

"I don’t need anything right now, but I’ll let you know when I do," Jane told Bright Sampson without any formality. After all, he was her own younger brother, and she saw no need to be polite about asking him for a favor.

She did think about Bright Sampson’s current salary and then considered the cost of Apple products.

"Send me your bank card so I can transfer some money to you for the things you’re getting for me," Jane said.

Bright Sampson instinctively wanted to say it wasn’t necessary, but before he could speak, he thought better of it and changed his mind, saying, "Okay."

It wasn’t that he was unwilling to buy things for his sister, but his salary was just too low.

Considering the things Jane used, like a purse, Bright Sampson would probably have to save up several months of salary just to afford one.

"Send your bank card number to my phone, then go back to sleep," Jane advised with sincere concern. "And try not to pull too many all-nighters from now on. You may be young, and it might not matter now, but as you age, you’ll see how damaging it is to your health."

"It’s as if you’re old yourself, sis," Bright Sampson laughed out loud, "You only seem older because you married early and that gives you the illusion that you are older. Anyway, I’m really scared of your nagging now and have to go."

After that, Bright Sampson quickly hung up the phone, leaving Jane so annoyed she wished she could smack him on the forehead.

"This damn kid," Jane snapped as she put her phone down with a smack onto the dressing table, "Who’s nagging now?"

"You are," Coco Edwards replied bluntly.

Jane was taken aback, gave Coco a glare, and just huffed.

"Talking to your family on the phone?" Hibiscus Wood casually asked.

"My brother," Jane admitted frankly.

"You and your brother seem to have a really good relationship," Hibiscus Wood turned to look at Jane, a touch of envy in her eyes—she and her siblings were never that harmonious.

Even now, when she’d achieved so much professionally, she still didn’t feel close to her siblings.

Jane just smiled. She could sense Hibiscus Wood’s envy towards the sibling bond she had with Bright Sampson, but she wasn’t the type to pry or ask many questions.

At that moment, Bright Sampson sent over the number of his new salary card, and Jane checked her bank balance before transferring $100,000 to him.

Then she sent him a text message.

"Here’s $100,000 as pocket money. Don’t be stingy with yourself in America; the cost of living there is high. Don’t scrimp and save too much. Just buy whatever you want, and let me know if you need more. —Jane.

When the text arrived on Bright Sampson’s phone, he was chatting with his roommate. Hearing his phone beep twice, he asked his roommate to pass him the phone.

After a lazy search through the bed, the roommate handed over the phone and curiously glanced at the display while asking, "Who’s texting you so early in the morn—"

Before he could finish, the boy exclaimed, "A $100,000 pocket money! Damn! Bright Sampson, do you really have to be so hardcore and stun everyone so early in the morning!"

After that, the boy didn’t hand the phone back to Bright Sampson, but instead took it and ran out into the room across the hall, where he woke up three other people.
