Chapter 1103 - 1111: Antibodies Against Dampness
"Hurry up and dry off; after being cooped up all day, if you get sick, your loved one back home would be heartbroken," Coco Edwards said as she reached into Jane Sampson’s hair at the roots to check, "It’s not too bad, thanks to the wig on the outside it’s not extremely wet. Look at Hibiscus Wood, her hair is so wet it makes you feel cold just looking at it."
Hibiscus Wood’s scenes today required light makeup and a very plain look because they were shooting the part of the drama where the female lead is sent to the cold palace by Honored Princess Consort Dawn. With Hibiscus Wood rolling and crawling in the snow, Jane felt cold just watching her.
By the time Hibiscus Wood came in, Jane was almost done packing up, so she left her hairdryer in the tent for Hibiscus Wood to use. There was quite a distance from there to the small pub where they were staying, and it would have been tough to get back with a drenched head.
"Thanks, I’ll put it away for you after I’m done," Hibiscus Wood said, who indeed needed the hairdryer, so she didn’t stand on ceremony with Jane and took it with gratitude.
Hibiscus Wood had a night scene to shoot later, so she couldn’t go back yet. She took advantage of the rest time to dry her hair, which was better than continuing to endure the bone-chilling cold.
Jane’s scenes today were fairly light, and once they were finished, she didn’t have anything else to do, so she greeted James Chip and returned to the small hotel with Coco. In any case, every minute spent outside the hotel, where there was no heating, was an ordeal for her.
The film crew had drivers, so Jane and Coco got in the car and went straight back to the hotel, heading directly to Jane’s room. As they entered the door, they were still discussing the morning’s unresolved question about whether people from the southland were more prone to rheumatism.
The winter in the Northland is very cold, but it is a dry cold, unlike here in the southland, especially in the deep mountains, where the air seems to be wringing wet.
"Maybe southerners have a dampness antibody," Coco said with a grin, "We have floor heating at our house, and didn’t they say on the internet that southerners endure winter by shivering through it?"
Jane chuckled and replied, "Before, I didn’t understand what shivering through it meant, but now I’m experiencing it firsthand."
After speaking, Jane slumped onto the sofa and then said to Coco, "Here, what’s most unbearable isn’t just the damp cold, but also, we’ve been eating at the hotel for a whole week, and they never change up the dishes. Just the thought of eating makes me dread the topic."
"No choice, the chef at a small hotel has limited skills; they can only do the same few things over and over, of course, mainly because we’ve stayed too long," Coco patted Jane, "I’ll go run the bath for you first, soak in a hot bath to ward off the chill.
"Thanks to the beautiful Sister Coco," Jane nodded but was still too lazy to move.
Coco didn’t dare delay any longer and went to the bathroom. Once Coco had run the bath, Jane went to the bathroom for a comfortable soak. When Jane came out of the bathroom, Coco had already gone back to her own room next door.
Wrapped in a bathrobe, Jane sat at her dressing table, applying skincare products to her face.
Recently, having to wear heavy makeup every day for the shoot, she’d spend at least an hour on skincare whenever she got the chance.
Like today, after finishing her scenes early, she’d do a facial mask and then, despite the tediousness, apply those layers of skincare products one by one to her face.
