Chapter 1110 - 1118: Not Deaf Again
"Right, when I stepped out just now, I ran into Director James Chip. There was a theft in the supporting staff’s area, and they called the police immediately. The police arrived and the director came back with everyone else. I heard a lot of people lost quite a bit of stuff, including us, so I reported our missing items as well."
Coco Edwards sat next to Jane Sampson and said, "There was a set of jewelry borrowed from a collector, and since it hadn’t been used yet, it was always locked in a room safe by the person in charge of props. The person in charge came back specially to get it for tonight’s evening scene, and that’s when they found out today that the safe was empty. No one knows which day it was taken."
"This is just too..." Jane was truly stunned.
She knew about that set of jewelry; it was invaluable, one of a kind, and its owner was also a shareholder and a long-time friend of James Chip. James Chase himself is known for his perfectionism, so he managed to borrow the set after much persistence and cajoling.
And to think such a thing would happen.
"This hotel is like a black market shop!" Coco cursed, "I don’t understand now, what would someone do with my mother’s underwear?"
Jane took a glance at Coco’s chest, her eyes revealing two words: envious.
"Maybe they wanted to get a feel of how big your chest is?" Jane said languidly.
"..." Coco rolled her eyes, "You’re so weird!"
Jane giggled and then looked down at her chest, murmuring softly, "Jasmine Seven and the others all say that touching makes them grow, so why are mine still so small? Could it be that James Black is touching them wrong?"
"..." Coco nearly spat out a drink of water, "Jane Sampson! Shut up! I don’t want to hear anything about you and your Mr. Black— not one bit! Have you ever considered the feelings of us single dogs?"
"You can hear me when I speak so softly?" Jane was shocked.
"I’m not deaf!" Coco exclaimed, hopping mad, "Dogs are human’s most loyal friends, so please, be a little kinder to the single dogs!"
Jane turned her back and faced the mirror on the dressing table, touched it and sighed deeply.
Her chest, it seemed, was beyond saving in this lifetime.
As Jane was pondering over her chest size, it wasn’t long before Hibiscus Wood and James Chip came over, knocking on Jane’s door, which Coco opened.
"Little Jane, I heard you lost an incredibly expensive lipstick. I’ve brought a police officer to take your statement," James Chip confirmed that Jane was presentable before letting the police officer in.
Jane acknowledged and quickly tied up her hair, dressed casually before stepping out to see a police officer at the doorway and smiled at him.
Taking the statement wasn’t a hassle. After the process, the officer started chatting with Jane and the others.
"This scenic spot has only been developed recently and has never been very popular. This hotel, after opening, nearly went bankrupt at one point, so they went through major staff cuts. With your arrival, they suddenly found themselves short on employees. They didn’t have time to rehire and retrain the employees they had let go, so a large chunk of the hotel staff, especially the cleaning ’Aunts’ and kitchen staff, were hastily recruited from nearby villages to fill in, with practically no pre-employment training or checks. As a result, the quality of the staff here is quite inconsistent."
