Chapter 1162 - 1170 Aren’t You Moved?
James had been unresponsive for over a minute, so Jane Sampson couldn’t help but speak up first, "Aren’t you going to ask me why I’m looking at you?"
"Nope." James responded without hesitation.
Jane’s mouth twitched almost imperceptibly—this guy was deviating from the script again.
It was always against the script, leaving her unsure how to respond.
No matter, even if he didn’t ask, she was determined to say it.
Keeping it all inside was too uncomfortable.
Jane directly reached out, turned James’ face toward hers, and said with a sour tone, "Fate, huh? Who would have thought we’d meet here?"
James took the hand that was bossing around on his face and removed it, not angry but laughing instead, his laughter deep, "What? Jealous?"
"Ha~" Jane quickly placed her hand back on the table, picked up her chopsticks casually, and bit into a piece of meat, "How could I be? Who~ Who’s jealous? What’s so good about vinegar? It’s sour and awful; I don’t like vinegar at all!"
"Is that so?" James’ tone was questioning but he didn’t continue to expose Jane.
But after waiting for quite a while, Jane couldn’t help herself first, leaning on James, she whispered, "That girl said she’s been looking for you for three years, three years! TV doesn’t even dare to act like this, don’t you feel moved?"
"So, speaking of which..." James gently placed his chopsticks on the bowl, turned his head towards Jane and calculated, "Our marriage contract was set when you were eleven and I was eight years older, that year I was nineteen."
"Uh-huh, and then?" Jane nodded, somewhat puzzled, waiting for James to continue.
"In our nation, the legal age for boys is twenty-three and for girls twenty. When I was twenty-three, you were only fifteen. By my calculations, to marry you, I waited a total of nearly five to six years. TV doesn’t even dare to act like this, so..." James’ voice was gentle as he asked, "Jane Sampson, are you moved?"
"Moved my ass." Jane blurted out these four words.
James shot a look directly at Jane, who subconsciously cowered and shrank her head.
Right, no swearing in front of daddy Black.
That was daddy Black’s rule.
"If five to six years didn’t move you, what’s a mere three years?" James said and then started to open the remaining half bottle of Cola to drink.
Jane stared at him wide-eyed.
"You, you’re going to drink all that’s left?" Jane’s voice sounded incredibly aggrieved.
She was thinking of acting sweetly, stubbornly, or sneakily so that the rest of the half bottle would still be hers.
"Don’t think I don’t know what you’re plotting," James said. "Once I drink it, there’s nothing left for you to pine for."
"But... but..." Jane puffed up her cheeks, visibly unhappy, but after a long while, she couldn’t justify her complaint.
Seeing that James was really about to drink, in a moment of quick thinking, she shouted, "Cola kills sperm! You can’t drink it! You won’t have babies if you do!"
After saying that, Jane quickly reached out to snatch it.
James hadn’t expected Jane would eventually come up with such a thing after ’but... but...’ He was stunned for a moment, but when Jane came to grab it, he reacted quickly and lifted it up to dodge her, then used one hand to push the restless person back.
"Then I’ll just throw it out." James capped the bottle nonchalantly and put it back.
