Chapter 1177 - 1185: Postponed
Although she grumbled in her heart, when Jane saw James changing into his pajamas, she still instinctively scooted over to make room for him. After James lay down, she immediately scampered with a giggle into his embrace.
"When are you returning to the Capital Province?" Jane inquired.
"I’m taking an 11 o’clock flight back to the Capital Province tomorrow night," James said. "Rest early tonight, and when you wake up tomorrow, I’ll take you mountain climbing."
Jane was momentarily stunned, then she mused with a frown, "Strange, why hasn’t James Chip told me that filming starts tomorrow?"
"Because I told him that you’re unavailable for these two days I’m here," James explained. "I asked him to postpone your scenes."
Seeing that Jane was silently blinking at him, James said, "Jane, after much thought, I still feel more at ease keeping you within my sight. If it weren’t for not wanting to upset you, I would wish to take you back to the Capital Province with me tomorrow."
Thinking of the two recent events gave James a lingering sense of unease.
"I really wish I could tuck you into my pocket and take you back," James playfully patted Jane’s head.
"But I’m too big~" Jane protested, barely shielding half of her head with her hand.
"So, after thinking it over, the best compromise is that while I’m here, you don’t leave my sight for a second, until I return to the Capital Province," James sighed helplessly.
"I’m a grown-up now; I can take care of myself. Besides, I’m just here to shoot a movie, what could possibly happen? And you don’t have to worry about any accidents, I’m not that unlucky to always encounter them, especially with so many people from the crew around," she reasoned.
Seeing how worried James was made Jane feel quite guilty.
But guilt aside, she wondered if she could opt out of that mountain...
Just the thought of mountain climbing made Jane’s legs hurt.
Why did other couples go shopping, watch movies, or have romantic dinners, while her own dates had to involve mountain climbing?
Jane let out a long sigh towards James, asking, "Do we have any room for negotiation about tomorrow’s plans?"
"No."
As expected, Jane sighed deeply once again.
"Let’s sleep," James said, fully aware of the laziness hidden in Jane’s bones.
She could come up with so many excuses just to escape morning runs; there was no telling how many she’d find for a full day of mountain climbing.
As the room dimmed, James gently patted the back of the person in his arms.
Neither spoke further, and it didn’t take long for Jane to fall asleep in James’s arms.
Although it was James who had wanted to sleep early, he held Jane for a long time, taking advantage of the dimly lit room to watch her sleeping face before finally closing his eyes to summon sleep.
It was a tranquil night; her breathing was soft, and she lay in his arms without any guard, half her face buried in the quilt, sleeping sweetly.
Half a year ago, James could never have imagined that one day, he would be so infatuated with the sight of Jane sleeping.
The person who used to crouch in one corner of the bed, with a posture that signaled no sense of security, now could sleep peacefully in his arms. James could sense the change in her mindset.
She smiled more than before, and her smiles, along with her life, had become more genuine.
And it was precisely this vivacious woman who had firmly established herself in the depths of his heart.
Ironically, the man who had promised to take Jane mountain climbing couldn’t follow through with his plans to take her for exercise.
