Chapter 1179 - 1187: Pretty Good

~4 min read 693 words

With a gentle closing of the door and a loud bang, Jane Sampson’s heart suddenly felt a bit empty.

She breathed deeply, as if she could still smell James Black in the air.

The parting was sudden; she hadn’t been prepared at all.

Reluctance flooded over her overwhelmingly.

Standing in front of the patio window, she saw James Black leaving the hotel, stretching his hand to hail a taxi at the doorway.

The sky outside was still gloomy, but Jane knew, that figure was James Black.

It was as if there was a telepathic connection between them.

Before he opened the car door to get in, James instinctively looked up at the upstairs behind him, his gaze landing straight on the window of the room he had shared with Jane.

He saw someone at the window.

Upon closer inspection, it seemed the person waved at him.

James looked for a few seconds, waved back at the person behind the window to say goodbye, then got into the car and closed the car door, saying, "Master, please take me to the train station."

His woman, when she was being delicate, made him want to hold her dearly, cherish her, but when she was independent, it especially pained his heart.

She could run into his arms with a smile, and she could also send him off in a rush with a smile when he had to leave.

She neither cried nor made a fuss, nor did she let him feel she was aggrieved or unhappy in any way.

When he was with her, she was like a child that had never grown up, extremely tender by his side; when he was away, she would suddenly become composed, revealing her other side.

James thought, in the end, he owed her.

After all, which woman wouldn’t want to be the cherished little woman forever?

However, since that was not possible, she had to learn to grow up, had to learn to be strong.

The Jane of today was fine.

But perhaps too fine.

So fine that it pained James’s heart.

He actually wished she would cry a bit, make a scene, and he could comfort her.

After watching James’s car drive away, Jane Sampson slowly closed the patio window and lay back on the bed; he hadn’t been gone long, and the bed still bore his scent everywhere.

Jane tossed and turned, finally lying in the spot where James had slept last night, surrounded by his scent, as if she was still lying securely in his arms.

She slept a little longer, and when she opened her eyes again, the sun was already high in the sky.

She picked up her mobile phone to check the time, and it was already 9:30 in the morning.

Seeing a new text message notification on her mobile phone, Jane opened it to find it was from Lucy Brisk, who had sent it early in the morning.

Lucy told Jane that she was staying in the room next to hers and asked Jane to call her once she woke up; Lucy was ordered to accompany Jane around today and asked where Jane wanted to go.

Jane knew without asking that it must have been something James and Lucy had arranged.

Despite his hasty departure, he had managed to arrange these things, probably while he was on the car to the train station.

After washing up, Jane called Lucy back. The phone was picked up, and Lucy’s energetic voice greeted her, "Sister Jane."

"Have the other actors from the film crew started work yet?" Jane asked.

"No one has started yet; the director said to give everyone one more day off, and we’ll start work officially tomorrow," Lucy replied. "Everything was pretty much handled yesterday, and later the director personally came over as well, so today, wherever Sister Jane wants to go, I am at your service to the very end."

"I think I’ll just stay in the hotel to rest and perhaps read the script a little more. If you want to go out, you can go by yourself; I’m not leaving the hotel, so don’t worry about me," Jane said.
