Chapter 1190 - 1198: Already Grown Up

"Forget it, asking you wouldn’t make any difference," Bright Sampton said, "Anyway, when my brother-in-law gets back, I’m definitely going to have him straighten you out, Jane. Nothing is as important as your own health. You can push yourself, but not to the point of risking your life. You’re not alone, you have me. Whatever you want to do, I’ll help you with it."

"I..." Jane Sampson opened her mouth, trying to say something, but seeing that Bright Sampton had no intention of listening to her explanation, she hadn’t even spoken when Bright Sampton had already stood up from beside her bed to open the door for Lucy Brisk.

Lucy Brisk had returned. Making medicine took time, so naturally, she couldn’t have brought it back so quickly, but she did bring up breakfast. It was porridge.

Lucy glanced at Jane Sampson and, seeing her nod, hummed a response and then left Jane’s room.

Jane Sampson was weak all over with a high fever and had no appetite to speak of.

Bright Sampton sat next to Jane, personally brought the bowl to her, and said, "Sister, I know you’re not feeling an appetite, but even without an appetite, you have to eat a few bites. No matter how unappetizing breakfast is, it can’t be worse than medicine, and you can swallow that. Look, this porridge is very thin, just like rice soup."

"You’re becoming more of a warm-hearted man," Jane Sampson said, raising her hand to gently rub Bright Sampton’s head, "Our Bright Sampton has grown up."

"I grew up a long time ago, it’s only you, sister, who still treats me like a little child," Bright Sampton smiled at Jane Sampson, "With my brother-in-law gone, I definitely have to take you back from him and take care of you until he comes back and I can hand a well-taken-care-of you back to him."

Thanks to Bright Sampton’s cajoling, Jane Sampson managed to eat nearly half a bowl of porridge and sat in her room after eating, talking with Bright Sampton. She didn’t have much energy and mainly listened to him talk about his work stories.

Bright Sampton talked about his colleagues and his teammates, and what he encountered and where he went during his month abroad.

"Actually, I bought quite a few gifts for you, sister, but this trip to King Town was so sudden, when I left, I only remembered to get your medicine, completely forgetting to bring your stuff." Bright Sampton sighed, "I brought back a bunch of dolls for you, and I thought you’d definitely like them."

"I’m just working here for a while, then I’ll be going back. What’s the point of bringing them? When I return to Capital Province, I’ll just pick them up from you," Jane Sampson said, "Do you think my room is lacking in stuff? I’m already dreading how to bring all this back."

When James Black came to King Town, that day she had bought quite a bit stuff on the old street, and while buying, she was quite happy, but once she got home, she started wondering how to get everything back.

"Nowadays, express delivery is so convenient, what is there that can’t be sent back?" Bright Sampton said nonchalantly, "Before you go back, just ask your assistant to help pack everything up and send it all back by express delivery. It saves you the trouble of carrying luggage around, which is a hassle and heavy."

The two of them talked for more than two hours in the room, until Lucy Brisk came knocking on the door with the hot medicine. After taking it, Jane Sampson couldn’t hold up any longer and, hugging her quilt, fell asleep. Bright Sampton then lay down on the sofa in the room and fell asleep for a while too.
